  1. ^ I'd rather have a hot woman deliver it in a Ferrari, then let me drive it and take her with me... Eric
  2. ^ Actually, I think you're right. Now that I think about it, some of Tatsu is pretty faded. Eric
  3. I think Scream! was the last SFMM coaster to be painted with regular paint. If they repaint it (same or different), it'll get the good, long-lasting stuff. Honestly, I've always liked the current blend of three colors and don't have any problem with keeping it the same. Eric
  4. ^^ Sour milk this morning in your Cheerios? Read the disclaimer at the bottom of the page. Eric
  5. Wasn't a ride like this put into a mall somewhere in Asia? Eric
  6. Shane, your park looks like a blast! And it wins on the fact alone that you serve Coca-Cola products! I'd like to check it out sometime. Eric
  7. One other thing that has improved is that the season pass coupon books are already here. For the past couple of years, they weren't available till late January or later. Mine is here at home waiting to be used, and it isn't even 2011 yet! About Thrill Shot, I haven't heard any more about it, but the last few times I've been to the park, it isn't up and running, and I don't recall seeing anything about pricing to ride it like there is for the Cyclone 500 go-karts and Dive Devil. Eric
  8. "...the must ride coasters at Knott's are Xcelerator, Silver Bullet, GhostRider, and Invertigo..." Not to get too nitpicky, but could you have meant "Boomerang?" Eric
  9. ^ No deals that I'm aware of. And just a note, if you got all of the Funatics awards, the last one was 25% off of your 2011 pass. However, if you're getting the Xtreme pass, the discount doesn't apply. But no biggie---it pays for itself in no time and is already underpriced in my opinion. I was at SFMM last Sunday and renewed my pass for 2011. Apparently, according to one person I spoke to, they've closed the season pass office inside the park and are only using the one outside on the right just past the metal detectors. Eric
  10. Riding public transportation in L.A. is...interesting...to say the least. Eric
  11. Weather reports are calling for yet another big storm to come through the area, but we'll see what actually happens. Eric
  12. "I do know that Universal has made their queue lines large enough for people with wheel chairs to be pushed through them." (jjune4991) Most newer queue railings at all parks are designed to be wide enough to push a wheelchair through them. I believe that's a part of the Americans With Disabilities Act. Having a person in a wheelchair wait till an able-bodied member of their party waits in the regular line reaches the boarding platform seems like a fair and reasonable solution. In the case of someone with ADHD, as has been stated, there can be some sort of system that works like a Fastpass, which would allow them to do something else while they "wait" in line. As for autism, I have a 16-year-old nephew who is autistic. Whenever he has to wait for something, he just gets into his video game and the sense of time goes away. Of course it varies depending on the person, but the whole idea of letting people take cuts on the basis of some problem or condition doesn't fly. We already have some people renting wheelchairs and scooters for the sole purpose of priority boarding; we don't need people claiming to have a disability as well. Eric
  13. Contrary to my post right above here, I took a chance and went out to SFMM since it was in fact NOT raining (why I don't always take weather reports seriously). My main purpose was to renew my pass for next year, but I went into the park anyway. After walking up to X2, I saw a lot of people leaving and figured that something was wrong (trains were running while I was waiting at the tollbooth, though). One person said that the ride was down "indefinitely." This was about 1:30. I walked up to Rapids Camp and down the other side to see how long the line was for Terminaclypse, and it looked to be in the 30-40 minute range so I skipped it. Riddler, of course, was running the only train it has, so I went over to Batman. Two-train wait for the front; most other rows were empty. Next was Scream!, followed by Goliath (two- to three-train waits for each), then I walked to the front of the park. Along the way, I noticed that Thomas Town has all of its Thomas signage removed, along with a barrier in front with a Closed sign. (I left my camera in the car, so no pictures of that---sorry). I stopped at the Cyber Cafe and posted this report, then took the Orient Express up the hill to ride Ninja before stopping to ride Viper on my way out. Eric
  14. I keep seeing that people want D- and E-Ticket attractions at DCA. While a few would be nice, some B- and C-Ticket attractions are needed to balance out the park. As for the entrance area, I do like the new Art Deco style planned for the entrance, but I also like the giant C-A-L-I-F-O-R-N-I-A letters---particularly how their colors/patterns were changed to fit the seasons or holidays. Those will be missed (by me at least). In a few years, I look forward to the "finished" product. Also, I wonder what might be up the Imagineers' sleeves for Disneyland over the next decade or so. But that's for another thread. Eric
  15. So they could use up all of their Scrabble letters and get the triple points for naming them. Why did they divide the year into twelve months instead of ten (which would have given us a metric year)?
  16. ^ With a prediction for more rain, I'd bet that if the park isn't closed, the crowd will be pretty light. Eric
  17. Note: The Mrs. was thrilled with the tickets. I didn't know it, but she's never sat in the 100 section, so this will be a memorable game for her. Eric
  18. ^^ I was also at Goliath's media day and rode it in the rain several times...kinda hurts your face. Thankfully, I haven't experienced too many breakdowns---more or less the usual "lift chain stops momentarily" or "train stops on block brake and sits for a minute" kind of things. Perhaps the "weirdest" one was at last year's West Coast Bash. I hadn't ridden Deja Vu in awhile, so I got on it in the last row. We backed out of the station as usual and started up the first lift. When the back of the train got about a third of the way into the curve from horizontal to vertical, the whole ride just...stopped. We sat there for about ten minutes till they could get someone out to fix it. Once fixed, we rolled forward back to the unloading point and they let us off. That was a bit strange. But I did go back and get a full ride on it later on. Eric
  19. "Considering how fast Ninja goes, I wouldn't be surprised if the track is cracking and the ride is having a lion's share of maintenance issues at SFMM. It'll either be the next to go, or face a Vampire-level facelift, which would really be cool for that ride, providing the trains give a smooth ride." (PayneTrain) I've been concerned about Ninja in that sense as well, but at the last WCB, Jay said they were planning to keep it. Of course, Jay is no longer at SFMM, so anything goes now. If I'm not mistaken, Ninja only has two of its original four trains running now; the other two having been used for parts or just plain worn out. I always thought the Vampire trains would greatly improve Ninja, and hope that the park considers it. But we also have to remember that Ninja is close to 23 years old. Unfortunately, I never had the chance to ride Big Bad Wolf, but that particular ride isn't where my concern is---it's the fact that there are already not many suspended coasters left. For me, this is a type of ride that truly gives a unique experience. No doubt there will be something new and exciting in Wolf's old spot. Eric
  20. Because they have BIG ASS TEETH and will chomp your face! Why do we say "Merry"Christmas rather than "Happy" or "Jolly?"
  21. Golf 'N' Stuff out here in Ventura County could use something like Sierra Falls. Right now they have two 18-hole courses, an arcade, bumper cars, and bumper boats. Of course, where they'd put it is another story. Now I'm trying to picture how Mr. Flash is going to look in that spot. Eric
  22. Has anyone ever made toast and put feta cheese on it instead of butter? That's actually pretty good... Eric
  23. "Eric, I'd jump all over those seats!" (BeemerBoy) Well, I didn't jump all over them, as with my lack of coordination, I'd fall and get hurt. But I did talk to my friend and purchased two of them. Section 114, Row 18. $73 apiece. The game is January 15 against Edmonton. I think she'll enjoy the heck out of that game. Eric
  24. ^ The petting zoo barn was built in 1972, so if it is going to stay, I'd say a new roof is in order. Otherwise, what you saw was the beginning of its removal. Whether it will be relocated is another story, but I can't think of anywhere else they'd use it. So, was SFMM open today? If so, did anyone go? Eric
  25. ^ LG does make a good phone. My previous LG VX4500 served me well for nearly six years. Honestly, the only reason I got my new one (see above) is that Verizon was offering a buy one, get one free deal on the Droid. Eric
