  1. So little kids can't push food they don't like into a corner and hide it there. Why is the fat in nuts good for you, but the fat in a thick, juicy steak bad for you?
  2. "How about they put in a man-made lake and put on a water ski show?" (rba13) Good idea, but it'd get old and they'll just buldoze it and put in a water park or something. Eric
  3. Not a one because I couldn't care less about sports. Have you ever gone parasailing?
  4. I agree with Elissa about building a coaster with a 42" height limit. If I'm not mistaken, don't some Arrow mine trains have a 42" limit? Big Thunder at Disneyland is 40" and Revolution was 42" when it opened (upped to its current 48" when the OTSRs were installed). A junior woodie would be a good choice. I haven't ridden any small wooden coasters, but don't some of them have 42" limits? Eric
  5. I have Verizon FiOS here at home, so loading this site is usually pretty quick anyway. But it does seem better today. Eric
  6. I heard Led Zeppelin's Kashmir today at work. Eric
  7. ^ Agreed. Though I'm not a fan of drop towers personally, that really is an ideal spot for one. The mountaintop location is what makes Tatsu as good as it is. Going around the so-called "egg turn" is one of the highlights of the ride for me because you're so high at that point and it's a great view of the west side of the park---and even better at night. Eric
  8. ^ Has one of my quotes in his signature. < Has a car that's paid for. V Has a car that's lived in!
  9. I've mentioned this several times, but I think it's possible. Imagine a waterslide that started at the edge of Hurricane Harbor closest to Colossus that left the park and wound around and through the first turnaround of Colossus, then came back into Hurricane Harbor, where riders finally got out. They could build something like that into the world's longest waterslide. Sounds like a joke, but I think it'd be something really cool and different. It wouldn't take up any extra land because it would run over land already in use. Of course it would be an enclosed slide, if for nothing else to keep riders inside. But they wouldn't have to use dark tubing---clear would work. Eric "Just dreaming again" L.
  10. ^ Yeah, I remember that commercial. Cheesy indeed. Back to back coasters at SFMM isn't a bad thing, as long as they don't restart the crazy coaster building trend of the late '90s/early '00s. If I had to predict what the 2010 coaster will be, I'd say some sort of smallish family ride. The park could really use a couple to balance out their lineup. I like some of the S&S concepts, but they don't have the capacity that SFMM needs. Eric
  11. Because dropping a body into a six-foot deep hole isn't funny---someone might get hurt. Why hasn't anyone built a coaster where you ride standing on your head?
  12. "You'll have to come see me when I'm out there in early April." (colincoon) Definitely. When you're here---or about to arrive---send me a PM. Perhaps we can meet up at SFMM. And I may be in better financial shape then. Eric
  13. Because you don't buy it ice cream. What's the difference between Marine World and Marineland?
  14. That was...interesting. But very enjoyable. I'd love to learn how to do something like that. Eric

    X2 Trains

^ I never had headbanging on X, and I haven't on X2. But there was the issue of leg banging (at least for me), and it's still a bit of an issue with the new trains. However, they did add some padding to the part that your legs rest on, so it takes a little of the pain out of a ride. Eric
  16. Let's not forget Six Flags Magic Mountain. We all know that it came close to meeting the wrecking ball a couple of years ago, and under new management, cleaned up its act and is a whole lot better than in the last ten or so years. But the park nearly closed just a few years after it opened back in the '70s. Originally, it was a joint venture between Newhall Land & Farming and SeaWorld. The park's first few years did not bring in as many people as they had hoped, and SeaWorld even pulled out. NL&F went at it alone, trying to come up with a solution. To try and bring in more people, they went with big name entertainment included with admission in the Showcase Theatre (the original name of the Golden Bear Theatre). Enough people came to not only pull them out of the red, but to be able to add big rides like Revolution (1976) and Colossus (1978). Six Flags bought the park in 1979 and had its ups and downs over the years, but for the most part kept the park from the threat of closing. Eric
  17. Certain beverages, when consumed in excess, may cause extended periods of confinement in a rest room. Eric
  18. ^ Stinks. < Thinks. V Clinks!
  19. Because you haven't yet caught the magic leprachaun who holds the secrets to winning the games. Why do glass objects shatter when you drop them, while plastic ones just bounce?
  20. This thread is pure entertainment. Eric
  21. I got the Christmas lights up. Tomorrow, I turn them on. Eric
  22. Haircut, $16 at Supercuts. Plus a $2 tip. Eric
  23. ^ Actually, back about 2000, gas did get to below $1 a gallon. If people maintain their gas saving ways and avoid the big trucks and SUVs, there will be such a glut that gasoline prices can only go down. That is, of course, unless production is reduced. But I have heard that the trend for 2009 is for prices to go even lower, so $1 a gallon gas in some areas is a real possibility. Eric
  24. ^ That does make a lot of sense. Given the quality of GCII's rides so far, I wouldn't even question why they're doing what they're doing. We'll find out come next spring. Eric
  25. I was at SFMM last Friday (day after Thanksgiving) and the crowds weren't too bad. We did wait a 75 minutes for X2, then it broke down and we gave it another 45 before calling it quits. At one point, we went up in the tower and looked down on the Terminator construction site. Nothing new that we could see. Eric
