^^^ Serious Cat is serious abowt planing to killz u!!1! I've often wondered why the U.S. computer keyboard has a $ sign, but one for cents. And where is the "pound" (currency) symbol on British keyboards? Is it SHIFT + 4 like it is for $ here in the U.S.? Eric

^^ I really enjoyed that post---not only for what was said, but for the fact that it was a perfect response to the post right before it. For the eleventeen millionth time, many coasters nowadays are essentially giant jigsaw puzzles. They're designed on computers using SolidWorks, Pro E, or even AutoCAD. Everything will fit, getting this ride up and assembled will go rather quickly. I'm not even a bit worried about Terminator making its debut right on time. Eric

I just re-read the article, and real-eye-zed that this was not the first time the guy did this. Now he's done it...tw-eye-ce! Eric

West Coast Bash 2009 at Six Flags Magic Mountain

Most likely, I'll be there. Except for losing my camera, I had a good time last year. This was a great event and I regret not going to earlier ones. Eric -
"It tasted better to me than American Coke." (TheRapidsNerd) That was how Coke was made before 1985. That's when they came out with the "New Coke," which was made with the high fructose corn syrup (HFCS). Remember that fiasco? Then the public outcry: "OH NOEZ!!1 U CHANJED TEH COKE??2? NO WAE!1!! PUT IT BACK TEH WAE IT WUZ!!1" Alllll righty...so they came out with "Coke Classic," not as sweet, but still made with HFCS. For awhile, they sold it alongside the "new" Coke. Over time, "new" Coke went away and the "Classic" part of the name faded away. Then we were left with what we have now. But in Mexico, they continue to use real sugar. Of course the corn industry swears it's chemically the same as sugar, but I have my doubts about that. It's all about saving money because HFCS is cheaper than sugar. Eric

I just watched that Colossus video. Did that bring back memories! I miss those original PTC trains---so much better than the Morgans on it now. And I remember the backwards rides in them, too! Eric -
My own license plate frame just says "Diabetics Do It Sweeet!" Eric

Just a note to those of you who drink regular Coke: if you visit a Mexican grocery store, you might find Coke made in Mexico. If you do, pick some up. See, what's different about it is that it's made with cane sugar instead of high fructose corn syrup. I don't know if Pepsi is the same way. Eric

Walt Disney World Magic Kingdom Discussion Thread

^ The only problem with keeping one track as is and adding inversions to the other is that you'd either have to get all new trains, or keep one kind on the non-inverting side, and new ones with OTSRs on the other one. Right now, should they choose or need to, cars could be used on either track (if there's a switch track that allows for it---I honestly don't know). My last ride was in October 2006, and, yeah, it was quite rough. Eric -

My only gripe about Space Mountain at WDW was that it can be a bit rough, but I do like its layout and will be glad to see it remain the same. However, I wonder if the configuration of track/trains will remain the same; that is, the 3+3 inline seating and narrow "Matterhorn-esque" track. Most likely, I'd guess, unless they do add an onboard sound systems which would require a beefier track for the heavier trains. Eric -
If my grandma (Mom's mom) were still alive, she'd have had her 100th birthday yesterday. I didn't post it yesterday because I'd turned off the computer before I remembered. Eric

Somewhere in L.A. (in the Hollywood area, I believe) they had sort of a gallery of various streetlamps that have been used in L.A. over the years; many dating back to the early 20th Century. I'll have to do some research to find out exactly where it is, but it seems like it was on the corner of Santa Monica and Gower, Western, Vermont...something like that. But as one who appreciates old streetlights/lamps, I've enjoyed this report. Eric EDIT: OK. I found a website for this, and it's at the intersection of Vermont and Santa Monica. Nickname of "Vermonica," check out the link here.

I'm actually looking forward to getting back to work tomorrow. Maybe because I'm thankful that not only do I have a job, but that I like it and the people I work with. Eric

I've wondered a few times whether parks with older B&M standups would ever upgrade to the newer design B&M trains. Of course, I don't know what that would entail with respect to chain/anti-rollback dogs, brakes, restraints, etc. Perhaps parks with them might consider it? Eric -

Very nice TR. I hope to visit New York at some point. Actually, I have enough points on my VISA card for a domestic round trip ticket somewhere, and I've narrowed it down to New York, Washington DC, or Chicago. Eric -
^ I can't imagine anyone having the time to read 1067 pages of this stuff. But if they do, great for them! Eric

Earlier today, I spent about $250 on a new LG Storm phone and accessories for Diana. She's going to pay me back, but I get to keep the air miles on my credit card, and I get the rebate when it comes. Eric EDIT: My bad---it's a Blackberry, not an LG.

Prices are creeping back up around here. Premium is just over $2 in many places, and regular is in the $1.80-$1.90 range. Eric
