  1. ^ Drummer. < Not a drummer, but has played a bit. V Dumber!
  2. ^ When I started mine, I drew it on notebook paper, if you can believe it! Sometimes I even incorporated the holes into the story, or as an O in the dialogue. I worked as a drafter for a few years back when we did drawings by hand, so my handwriting got to be very good, and still is today. In my dialogue, I use upper and lower case lettering. That allows me to use all caps to express anger or surprise (or yelling). Sad to say, my drawing skills are...lacking, but everyone says the it's the storyline that makes it what it is. I've never been able to do a short two- or three-panel one with a quick joke that would be used in a daily newspaper. Mine are long adventures with humorous bits along the way. Eric
  3. "...can you only imagine how much more difficult this project would have been when we were kids??" (Shari) I think the Pony Express would have gone out of business! Seriously, I'm still trying to get one to you. My job just got extra busy, so I'll have to squeeze it in. Eric
  4. "I'm actually curious, because I'm a bit too young to remember, where did the Bobsleds and Shockwave board? Did they use the same general area as Psyclone for their stations?" (AllenA07) If I recall correctly, Psyclone's train storage shed was the station for Sarejevo Bobsleds and Shock Wave. For Psyclone, they built the station that it had. It appears that Terminator's station will be somewhere in the middle or far edge of the ride. At some point, we'll see a GCII drawing and be able to determine not only the station location, but the layout as well. Eric
  5. "huge fake cloth diaper." (the ghost) I'd be more concerned if it were a real one... Eric
  6. All of these trips look great, but if I'm able to do any, it'd most likely be the Deep South trip, being that it's only one week long. (I have to consider what my employment situation will be then and how much vacation time I'd have.) But aside from time, that trip covers some parks that I've long wanted to visit. I will take a serious look at going on that one. Eric
  7. I did just typed "PPM" on Yahoo! and got this page. Google might shed some light on this as well. Eric
  8. Jack in the Box is offering an order of five mini-churros with a cinnamon creme filling for $1.29. Eric
  9. Your comic strip is very good, Josh. If I had the time, I'd devote more time to the one I've done for 30 years. Just a tip: you might consider using a computer font (Comic Sans, Arial, etc.) for your dialogue. That'll make it a bit easier to read. But your characters are drawn well and it looks like there are quite a few possibilities for storylines, situations, etc. Eric
  10. We lucked out in that my wife used to make Diana's Halloween costumes from scratch. Kristen is sure cute---and gets cuter as time goes by. Eric
  11. ^ Really likes Halloween. < Halloween...eh. V Really likes National Adopt-a-Tarantula Day!
  12. Most of the ones I've seen, yes. Have you been to Target or WalMart in the last month?
  13. ^ Go into your profile, click the Profile tab, and take it from there. Eric
  14. It really would be nice to do something with those buildings. They're over 30 years old (original Spillikin Corners buildings built in 1976-77). Opening a new "hole" to access the ride would be a great idea, especially if the ride's station isn't where Psyclone's was---and it almost looks like it isn't from the video and drawing. Eric
  15. My mom said that she and my dad took us there when we were kids, but I don't remember it. I do remember going to the nearby Santa Monica pier in the early '70s and seeing the Sea Serpent rotting away and wishing that we could go ride it. As I understood it, one of the reasons that POP closed was that the cost to maintain it was breaking the bank. This park only lasted ten years (closing in 1968, same year as the Pike in Long Beach), but because it was right next to the ocean, the salt air literally rotted the place and it aged terribly in a short time. Eric
  16. I rode the Motorcycle Chase both as individual cycles and as a train. What I don't remember are those little platforms that you can see in this picture. Obviously they were to help evacuate the cycles should that be necessary. All-white Corkscrew! Believe it or not, a picture of it was in my 1976 high school yearbook. At that time, it was quite a novel ride---the first upside down coaster in over 70 years. And I remember visiting the park one rainy night in Spring 1978, just before Montezooma's Revenge opened. I knew of (but had never ridden) Tidal Wave at then Marriott's Great America, and was quite excited at the idea that one of our local parks was getting one! (Little did I know that ours was the newer flywheel launch model, which in my opinion is better!) Also on that night was the one and only time that I ever saw two-train operation on the Corkscrew. Montezooma's Revenge is the only such ride in the U.S. to still operate in its original location. Eric
  17. ^ I've said more or less the same thing many times. Indoor coasters you can theme throughout (Space Mountain being one of the best). But outdoor coasters...no! Aside from theming the station and queue areas, as well as the ride vehicles, once you get outside, it's just a regular coaster---even if you have signs along the way, short tunnels, etc. Terminator will be just a fun woodie. Eric
  18. No, not a bit. Would you date someone named Hester even if she were a total babe?
  19. ^ That path is still there, but of course the mission models are long gone. Henry's Livery was at the southeast corner of the property, right at the corner of Beach and Crescent. That's where one of the main parking lots is now. Eric
  20. They make you do the shipping and handling, and that builds muscle---along with character. Why are log flumes usually painted with that turquoisey blue color? Why not green or purple?
  21. I rode the log ride in 1969 just after it opened. For some reason, it was opened before the inside scenery was completed, and I still recall how unfinished it looked compared to when the scenes were done. Also, I still remember the Gypsy Camp that was where the southern half (KOD, Wheeler Dealer, etc.) of the Roaring '20s/Boardwalk is now. One memory I have (and my mom has pictures somewhere) is riding the cars at Henry's Livery. Similar to the Gasoline Alley cars that appeared in the '70s, these were not on a steel track, but had guard rails on each side of the road to prevent driving off. I don't know when Henry's Livery closed, but I remember having a really good time on it. Thank you so much, Shane, for bringing all of this stuff back. Eric
  22. ^ He told DBru that he wanted fries with that! Eric
  23. I'll sum it up as simply as possible: We won't be disappointed. Eric
  24. ^ It was a thought till they realized what would happen when the trains were upside down at the bottom of the pretzel loop. The idea was nixed. Eric
  25. ^ Allow me to asplain...I no longer care how many times I've ridden a ride. Not having to keep count allows me to just sit back and enjoy the darned thing. I will add a new credit to my spreadsheet, but that's about it. Eric
