  1. ^ Should wear a vest. < Should get a job. V Should get a flea bath!
  2. I, too, am envious of Big Mike getting to ride Percy's Railway. Since I've always been too tall for it (even in 1971), I don't have that credit. Maybe someday. But I need to pick up some charm somewhere... Eric
  3. Regarding Percy's Railway/Goliath Jr./Wile E. Coyote Coaster/Clown Coaster, I read something recently that Newhall Land & Farming picked that ride up from some local kiddie park when Magic Mountain was built, and that it dates back to the late '40s. Very interesting, I thought. Unfortunately, I can't remember where I read that---could have been Screamscape. Anyway, I'm going to do some more research on this. Two weeks and change till the Bash...I'm looking forward to it. Eric
  4. Because back when you were a kid, phone numbers only had two digits in them! Why did Walt Disney decide to build Disneyland in Anaheim?
  5. Nice report, Joey. One of the things I like about what's been done to Dodger Stadium is the return of its original pastel seat color pattern. That looks much better. Red seats don't belong at Dodger Stadium because red is the color of another Los Angeles team... I did get to visit Dodger Stadium last year for the first time since 1985. Hopefully I can get to a game this year, too, and I'd like to go to one down at the stadium where another Los Angeles team plays... Eric
  6. ^ Not just park rules. From what I understand, it's a manufacturer's spec as well. Percy was made by Bradley and Kaye, and was not designed for adults to ride. Timberline Twister at Knott's is also a Bradley and Kaye ride, but it can accommodate adults up to 5'-9". I have that credit because I'm 5'-8". Eric
  7. That zero car is a great touch to the Manta trains. Even though they look nice as they are, it'd be nice if Tatsu's trains would have had something like this, only a big dragon or something similar on them. Eric
  8. ^ Pirate. < Pumbaa. V Pest!
  9. I'll just stick to Diet Coke. Eric
  10. Why wine and dine when you can eat and run? Eric
  11. No. Actually, I have little to no interest in gaming. Would you spend a day with your grandparents listening to their tales of the "olden days?"

    Rhino Rally

I've only ridden Rhino Rally once, and to me it was...eh. I got to be the navigator on that trip, and I recall riding through the water. Obviously, it must have been working that day. Eric
  13. ^ Puffy fish. < Puffy warthog. V Just puffy!
  14. "...and to our honored Confederate dead. (Yeah, every town in Virginia has one of these monuments about every 20 yards or so.)" What, does Cedar Fair manage this place, too? Diana got to visit Colonial Williamsburg back in 2004 on her eighth grade trip, along with much of Washington DC. I'd like to visit this area of the country someday. Eric
  15. On the way out of Ninja, you use part of what was the queue for Magic Pagoda. It pretty much took place underneath that upper patio area adjacent to Ninja. Ninja itself uses the former upper station of the old Dragon ride as its queue/boarding area. You can still see remnants of the Dragon track when you're climbing Ninja's last lift hill. The lower Dragon Station is still intact, but unused. It sits behind the Soda Shack next to where Spin Out used to be. The Galaxy used what is now Buccaneer and Swashbuckler. It was actually a very troublesome ride, and the park didn't get it to work reliably till the second or third season if I recall. On most of my early visits, it was not open. Eric
  16. ^ It doesn't need water slides---after a good rainstorm, the whole place is one! Having an enclosed theme park was a great idea, but it's obvious that Circus Circus is letting it go to pot. It was fun at one time. I don't remember Miner Mike being there the last time I was there, but it has been quite some time. Eric
  17. If I had to make a guess as to how tall Eagles Flight was, I'd say about 150 feet at its highest. The north/south (Superman) route was the highest and longest of the two lines, covering four towers vs. the two that the other side had. The ride was indeed tall, and riding it in even the slightest wind was a bit scary. In fact, it was not uncommon at all to see all of the gondolas stopped at any given time. I don't know if wind triggered that or what, but stopping up there (I did a couple of times) could be really scary. Regarding the accident I mentioned above, that had nothing to do with wind or the height. What actually happened was that the clamp that is supposed to grip the cable upon leaving the station didn't engage properly for some reason. To my knowledge, that was the only such incident on this ride. I have pictures that I took from both sides of Eagles Flight, and I need to find and scan them so I can post them here. Eric
  18. I'm almost 50, so I pee on myself without a trip report. But this was a treat. Hopefully I'll get to Hong Kong sometime. I'll get a lot of exercise walking up that 25-degree slope everywhere I go. Eric
  19. ^ I found a song by The Hollies (Paul Bliss) called How Do I Survive? The Hollies were big in the '70s, and maybe into the '80s. Click here and check it out. Eric
  20. ^ Married with children. < Married with a child. V Married with a shotgun pointed at him!
  21. Because the No Cal drink justifies their High Cal meal. Balance. Yin and yang. Why isn't there a green monorail at Disneyland?
  22. ^ I bet you could Google the lyrics and find it. I've done that before when I couldn't figure out a song. Eric
  23. Back in February 1978, one of the Eagles Flight gondolas fell from about this point and killed one of the two occupants. This was the park's first fatal accident---ten months before the infamous one on Colossus, but little was ever mentioned about this. I, too, had guessed that an Eagles Flight tower was where that concrete pad was and e-mailed my guess to Dan, but I guess I didn't answer in time. I should learn to type faster! And, by the way, the shorter of the two Eagles Flight lines (the one to where Riddler is now) was dismantled in 1981 to make way for Freefall, which arrived in 1982. Eric
  24. ^ Believe it or not, I can remember a few things from age two. Among them, falling down a short flight of stairs and finding out what a "landing" was. Happy second birthday, Kristen! Eric
  25. Did we ever find out what used to be on that concrete pad in the middle of the lake? I sent a guess into Dan, but I thought about it later and I think my guess was wrong. I have a second guess---should I e-mail that instead? Eric
