I don't know where you are, but here in Camarillo CA we have All-City Computers. That's where I got mine in July 2007. Their computers have a local reputation of lasting for many years beyond what an "off-the-shelf" system does. Check 'em out here. I've been happy with my computer. Basically, it has an Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 2GB of RAM, 160GB hard drive, a bunch of USB ports, a high end video card (for CAD applications), one CD/DVD read/write drive (all that in one drive!), and a mouse and keyboard. We didn't get a new monitor because our previous 17" CRT worked just fine, though we're looking at a 20-24" wide screen flat panel to replace it. My system cost about $1400. Hope I've helped. Eric

^ Better put it back or you won't have anything to sit on! Eric

Here I sit, waiting for it to be lunchtime. Why? Good question... Eric

No and yes. Does your town have both a train station and an airport?

Where in the world are Robb & Elissa? Part III
ebl replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I just watched the Mindbender video and honestly thought that you two had been to Edmonton for that credit long ago. It looks like a great ride...too bad we'll never see anything like it here in the U.S., though the old Texas Tornado/Zonga/etc. was probably the closest. Eric -
"L.A. people" are not wanted in Santa Barbara, either. At one point, one of the bridges over U.S. 101 heading up that way had a message scrawled on it in black paint: "L.A. Go Home." Ventura County isn't too bad and I like it here, but it's not the same as it was when we first moved here (ironically to escape the Valley) back in 1986. The "L.A. influence" has made its way here to some degree. Eric

"I haven't quite got the hang of this whole camera thing yet!" (TPDave) 1. Aim at subject, push button down halfway. 2. Wait about three seconds. 3. Push button down the rest of the way. 4. Look at display to verify that desired image is captured. 5. Move on to next picture. Hope I've helped... Eric

I've lived in Southern California all of my life and like living here despite the high prices/taxes, traffic, etc. You can't beat the weather, and we're one of the few places where you can visit a theme park any time during the year. Fresh, locally grown produce is available pretty much all year (for me that's a plus). It is crowded, and a lot of people are pretty lame. It's all about physical beauty, perhaps because of the proximity to Hollywood. Public transportation can certainly be better---especially in L.A., but it's really spread out too far to make bus transit work well. It is developing a rail system, but it's almost too little too late. I live in Ventura County---far enough away from L.A., but close enough to everything should you want to go there. For us, we got into the real estate game when prices were low (1998 to be specific), so that's not an issue with us. Eric

You made him eat his vegetables, right, Chuck? After all, he is a growing boy! I look forward to seeing you out here, Colin. Coming to the Bash in two weeks? Eric

I've heard varying tales of whether Mulholland Madness would even stay in the park---rethemed or otherwise---but I'm glad they're keeping it. To me, it's a fun little coaster and I've always taken a ride or two on it each visit. In all the years the park's been open, I've only ridden Orange Stinger one time---and that was on my most recent visit last September. Underwhelming to be sure; it's just a wave swinger inside a building with the sound of bees buzzing. But I believe the park needs rides like that, as well as remakes of classic rides like the Fun Wheel and Golden Zephyr---people do enjoy them. Eric

Funny thing about bacon...I don't each much of it, but it is a part of my diet. I'm diabetic and actually have a cholesterol level of well under 200 (as of the results of my blood work last summer). But it's been like that for a couple of years now, and nothing's changed, so I don't expect the results to change on my test from last Thursday. Eric

^ Maybe it would be a good idea to let a few people respond before you do. My guess? I also thought it was a bowling ball or a marble, but now I'm stumped. Eric

^ See? I knew that with you Brits, it's all about...you... Eric

^ Congratulations! Now send some of your luck my way... Eric

Six Flags Magic Mountain Terminator Salvation: The Ride
ebl replied to robbalvey's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
As I've said, I've heard that ROAR! at SFDK (Vallejo, CA) is still a good ride. But it's the first to have had the Millennium Flyer trains on it, so chances are, that's what's kept it good. I'm finally beginning to be able to trace the layout of Terminator. Looks like it's going to be great! Eric
