Please help TPR's Jack Crouse!

I had to donate cash on a credit card. Guviment took my bitcoin! -
"I have been wondering about that for YEARS on all of the hills with anti rollbacks and these wheels, and I could not understand what they were for or did as there were no motors driving them, yet after trains passed over them you could see them still turning. I too thought they were kicker wheels to help the trains crest the hills or 'push' them over if they ever stalled, but it didn't make sense too me there was nothing driving them." I believe those are anti-rollback wheels. The wheels have lubricated ball bearings and will keep spinning like a bicycle tire will keep spinning to reduce resistance against the train. The wheels have a ratchet mechanism so they will only spin in one direction and stop the train if the chain breaks.

I visited on Friday, 3/11 for a couple of hours. Sierra Sidewinder had two trains on today with no wait. Monte is open again. Silver Bullet's second train still has a couple of parts next to it but hopefully they get it up by Spring Break because it had a half hour wait around 1 pm. Lots of work on Ghost Rider but it looks the same as no top rail.

Rollercoaster doubts
SoCalJasonland replied to Henry M's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I doubt a giant Fireball is a roller coaster. If I had my own amusement park, I would buy one and call it "Carnival ride, not a roller coaster!". -
whoa now, SFMM had at least two good wooden coasters. They just aged poorly. If Ghostrider doesn't hold up well at Knott's after the remodel; it may be just time to give up wooden coasters in California. Between the seismic building requirements, frequent earthquakes and our parks' year round operating schedules; they don't make a lot of sense.

I was there last Friday and lines were 20 minutes for log ride and 10 minutes for all of the coasters. People will be in school on Friday so it should be pretty dead. I would not spend the money for it. I attached a picture for the line for Xcelerator and them having to evac us from Sierra Sidewinder after it broke down as my first coaster of the year. Xcelerator line around 1 pm on Friday Sierra Sidewinder evac at break run

Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread
SoCalJasonland replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
this is not a joke please ask this. Will dorney park ever get a custom coaster again?" -patient dorney fan WTF? Did you READ what we posted? What would you like us to ask ABOUT VALRAVN. Seriously. Why would we ask a Dorney Park question at a Cedar Point event?!?!!? If you have a question about ValRavn, please post it, but don't waste our time. You could ask them if it is hard to work on VALRAVN when it is very, very, very cold outside and your fingers hurt. I always wondered that living in So Cal You could also ask them if one of those VALRAVNs would fit in Knott's but I am guessing that question would also be inappropriate? -
Do enthusiast opinions matter?
SoCalJasonland replied to neil009's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I am guessing that their opinions matter but like rabid sports fans; they are not always impartial or non-biased. I am also guessing that like my former boss at work that they don't like it when the employees or enthusiasts bag on a project that they believe in or have already built or implemented. -
I would say the lateral tracking wheels and continuous rail added by RMC made the loops, 90 degree plus banked turns and several other elements possible and comfortable. Regular wood coaster stay on course by crashing and bouncing off of the turns making for an out of control but uncomfortable ride. The smoother ride of RMCs also allows the coaster to maintain momentum through out the course with some fun elements. Yet they do feel more hybrid wood / steel than an actual wood coaster.

Smoothest Coaster You've Ridden?
SoCalJasonland replied to TheDark8's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I guess a smooth coaster can still be uncomfortable. I would consider Green Lantern First Fight crystal smooth but that doesn't help with the uncomfortable restraints or jarring sudden but smooth stop on a dime from full flip into the break run. Tatsu feels smooth but the restraints will get to you after a couple of rides. Even the G forces will make most people nauseous on Goliath before the bumps and bruises set in. Some coasters are also relatively smooth like Xcelerator or Full Throtle but get a slight high speed wind wobble or rattle that can't really be avoided and don't distract much from the experience. -
Big thrills for a low price!
SoCalJasonland replied to gerstlaueringvar's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I think a Knott's and a Six Flags MM Gold Passes. I get about 20 good coasters that I care to drive to with none of the maintenance costs associated with owning your own. I gotta share but my yard is kind of small and can only afford a couple hundred per yer anyway -

I would like to see them come out with the statement that since they can't have people prove they are disabled that they must treat everyone as they could be disabled. So from hence further; we have renamed our "regular line" the "disabled line" and everyone is free to enjoy it. Congratulations! You are all special, enjoy.

I almost lost a phone out of cargo shorts. The worst are baggy thigh pockets with flap covers that only button in the middle. Try sliding your phone up in the pocket with your fingers pushing up from below it. If you can get it to slide out a gap near top of the pocket; you might be in trouble. A phone can bounce around and fall out if you are shaken enough. Zipper pockets work best but not many have one.
