  1. So, how did the guy get Boomerang car home and is it sitting in his living room for all his friends to see? Here is the shakey-cam video tell all: PS: I just found video while browsing Youtube. I don't know the person.
  2. I am glad you had fun. Boomerang has a pretty wide horse collar restraints and I don't get much head banging on it either. None of the rides at Knott's beat you up anymore since they fixed Ghostrider.
  3. Park is starting to get some spring break crowds. Lines on Thursday at 1 pm were 90 min for Ghostrider and 15 min to 60 min for pretty much everything else. Sol Spin was up in the air with a couple of people working in it but it was not spinning yet. 4. Park was busy on Friday so I guess spring break crowds are here. All of the coasters had 30 - 85 min waits. I took a few photos, walked around, and left. Water slide parts Water slide construction Water slide construction Restaurant near Sky Cabin Final month Sol Spin Sol Spin Sol Spin

  6. 7. I don't believe Buena Park has specific noise limits but the noise has to be reduced to a certain level by the time it reaches residential and certain commercial zones so the noise can't bother people outside the park. They usually have to conduct noise studies and if the city council doesn't like the report findings; they require modifications like scream shields or modifying the ride layout to be further from the perimeter of the park.
  8. I agree with those points but you could also add safety. I believe most of the B&M deaths are people or workers that wondered into the coaster train or passenger's foot. Those are issues with people. Intamin has issues with snapped cables or rider ejections injuring people and I don't hear about coaster failures with B&M injuring people as much.
  9. I spent St Patty's Day weekend 3/17 - 3/19 at Arcade Expo in Banning, California. Arcade Expo is a yearly event with over 1,100 pinball and arcade games all set to free play. There were also a few food trucks, beer, wine, camping, and entertainment. I believe it was well worth the money. They are only open a couple of weekends a year but they also host private parties. http://www.museumofpinball.org/ http://www.arcadeexpo.com/ One of the rows on pinball One of the rows on pinball One of the rows on pinball Overview of the pinball room St Patrick's Day Pinball Closer view of pinball machines Closer view of pinball machines Closer view of pinball machines Closer view of pinball machines Closer view of pinball machines Closer view of pinball machines Closer view of pinball machines There was a giant room of arcade games too There was a giant room of arcade games too There was a giant room of arcade games too Overview of arcade games room Billy Mitchell "King of Kong" was mingling with guests Dirk didn't make it Billy Mitchell "King of Kong" was very friendly Dirk the Daring Hardbody Pinball! 10. While I don't take Screamscape as Gospel, I guess we know why now the event was switched to Magic Mountain. Like with RMC Mean Streak, I'm team KBF2018 Yeah sorry but Screamscape is merely a fanboy site and does not generate actual news. Cedar Fair has a yearly budget. They cannot spend whatever money they want. The two RMCs are going to take most of that budget, leaving the rest for a flat ride or two, some events, and park upgrades. For 2018 I can see KBF getting a new flat ride and maybe their own version of Winterfest but a new coaster, let alone a large B&M, is just not possible with not one but two others coming in the chain. Not only that but the land occupied by Boomerang and its surroundings is a very poor place to put a coaster. It's better to wait for other land to clear to put in a nice ride. I can't find it now but there was another California coaster site that had a rumor a couple of months ago about Boomerang being removed for a B&M Dive Coaster. Since Boomerang being removed came true; I am at least giving their rumor some chance of happening. Knott's could add coaster elements above the old splash down pool, Hammerhead's site, and down near Xcelerator. If they don't have the money in the budget for 2018, they could drag feet and not open until 2019. It is just a thought. Speculation is all good and fun until you are eventually disappointed with the actual facts.
  11. Me too. I'm ecstatic that Knott's decided to take out their POS Boomerang and repaint and refurbish their Schwarzkopf shuttle loop (which is a MUCH bigger pain to take care of, I imagine). Just goes to show that they really care about their unique classics. Speaking of classics, is there any chance Sky Cabin's days are numbered as well? I know the "K" on top is considered an icon or whatever, but if that thing got removed too, we're talking about a decent plot of land to work with. I keep seeing them work on Sky Cabin each week when I visit so it seems like they are trying to re-open it. If it were to be closed at the end of April for a new ride construction; I would think they would give up working on fixing the cabin so I am guessing the cabin isn't part of what is replacing Boomerang. Personally, I would like to see them add a Polar Coaster with combination drop ride, observation tower, restaurant and relocate "K" to top the top of that tower; but, I think the unofficial former rumor was a B&M Dive Coaster or Hyper Coaster for replacing Boomerang. It is nice that they got rid of Boomerang instead of Monte, and even if Boomerang doesn't find a home at another Cedar Fair Park; it could end up on a boat from Long Beach to somewhere in Asia. It might even look nice at Castle Park so I have more scenery while I pass by on the 91 freeway commute
  12. You get extra point for keeping the stream in the toilet and not on the floor. Either that or we could all line up at the urinal at the same time and wait for bathroom attendant to tell us to start peeing. Whomever keeps their stream on target the fastest and longest; pops a balloon and wins a prize. But not a stuffed animal as that would be gross in a bathroom. Should be a prize a bathroom attendant would give out like a stick of gum, spray of cologne or shoe shine.
  13. Here are all of the items in the Knott's Memorabilia Auction at the end of the month. It looks like you can bid on the items online. www.pe.com/articles/knott-827084-farm-items.html https://comics.ha.com/c/search-results.zx?N=52+793+794+791+1893+792+2088+4294944574&ic5=CatalogHome-ActionArea-BrowseAll-071515 Some of the larger items and artwork will be available for viewing two days before the live auction. Viewing times are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. March 29 for Knott’s season ticketholders; and the same times on March 30, free, for the general public. Viewings will take place at the barn that once housed Bud Hurlbut’s Amusement Company near the farm. (Hurlbut designed and built many of the famous rides at Knott’s.) There will be free parking for the viewing in the Knott’s north parking lot, 7621 La Palma Ave., in Buena Park. Then follow the signs for a short walk to the barn. Details on the live auction, including photos and descriptions of all lots available for bidding, can be found on Heritage’s website at ha.com; type “Knott’s” in the search function. Anyone interested in bidding can register in advance at the Heritage Auctions website, though registration also will take place the day of the auction at Knott’s. In addition, proxy bidding on all items will take place in the 24 hours before the start of the live auction.
  14. Dining is not valid during the haunt so you would have to get your meals in during the day before the park closes. I don't know if the all season drinks will be good for anything at Knott's. We haven't received any word that it will be introduced at our park yet.
  15. Here are a few photos of the park today: Train track almost ready Monte painting Sky Cabin is getting worked on and will hopefully re-open soon. Benches were leaning against the fence for repairs. Part of rear wall of cabin was removed so you can see through cabin. Cabin wa raised later in day but didn't take a photo. 16. My guess is that Monte got painted because it looked so faded and sat right behind the new Sol Spin ride so they are trying to make the area look nicer. There were a couple rumors floating around that Monte or Boomerang was being removed for the next coaster but neither seems to have been conformed by anyone. We are just having fun speculating at this point and it could be a couple of years before we get a new coaster anyway. Knott's has saved rides like GhostRider, Log Ride, Mine Train and Sky Cabin and did a decent job but they have largely run out of space so at some point they will remove again.
  17. Aren't most or all of the other Schwarzkopf launched coaster like this one retired? My guess is that at some point, the launch mechanism wears out and you either custom mill everything new or choose to retire it because it isn't worth the cost. You can put a new train on Revolution or restraints on boomerang to give it a new feel for not much money. I think Monte will eventually need a lot more work than just new trains and might get replaced with a magnetic launched coaster. They should keep the classic station though. Now, I don't know that it is leaving but that is my guess as to why Monte might be one of the next coasters to leave if something is removed.
  18. Alpha Beta's hate nerds. Down with nerds. Sports rule!
  19. I would love another full length coaster of some sort but with my luck they will probably remove Monte and replacing it with a Sky Scream typed launched coaster in the existing station. It might be cool but Knott's has enough low capacity rides. I did stop by the park on Tuesday. There was a section of Ghostrider track missing before the lift. The left wheel's track and the layers of boards underneath had been stripped back. It also looked like there were several maintenance people below the track working on the supports. I didn't ask anyone when it would re-open. The Calico Railroad was closed and the section of railroad track near the water tower had been removed and they were rebuilding the rail bed. The log ride was closed but the rapids are back. I saw several people in completely soaked jeans getting off the rapids. 20. Knott's is having an auction of some older items from their warehouses. Even if you can't afford the stuff, OC Register has a slideshow of some of the items. I need some bears in my foyer. www.ocregister.com/articles/knott-740497-park-auction.html
  21. After watching the video, I am a little jelly. The ride is psycho though with crazy torque on those gears; no wonder it broke.
