I don't think the story was made up. People just reported it wrong on Wikipedia. Knott's made the mistake of announcing they were going to remove Sky Cabin for Windseeker and people got mad. They went to the city of Buena Park and asked about making it a historical monument / site. I believe the City of Buena Park told the group that they would need to get a certain amount of signatures to get it on an election ballot and probably pay some fees. it never made it to the ballot as it was probably dropped or failed to be followed through with the requirements to get it to a ballot. Meanwhile, Knott's found a way to refurb Sky Cabin and located Wind Seeker elsewhere making everyone happy. You can call the City of Buena Park, Buena Park Historical Society and ask them for their current requirements if you still want Sky Cabin saved and think removal is imminent. www.buenapark.com/Home/Components/ServiceDirectory/ServiceDirectory/32/625 City of Buena Park, Buena Park Historical Society: Phone:(714) 562-3570

I am pretty sure you could lock out the individual car from spinning but then you have the queue issues from the change. I think most parks are already dealing with fast passes and single riders that they don't want a third issue to deal with in the their limited queue space. It is kind of like trying to have separate rows for non VR riders. Things back up differently and rows would need to be relabeled to avoid confusion. Probably too much work for what they consider to be limited value when the market is already crowded with non-spinning options.

Most intense brake run?
SoCalJasonland replied to Mikxy's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I got the life slammed out of me when I flipped into the brake run on SFMM Green Lantern First Flight. -
They keep piling rubble in front of Sky Cabin and then a dump truck pulls adjacent to it and then they haul it away. It might be where the small vehicles bring the debris to be loaded to the dump trucks. Aren't crush piles usually soft dirt though? Not saying the Sky Cabin isn't possibly going and I am sure Knott's will not announce anything pre-demolition to minimize any further attempts to get it declared a historical landmark. It is sad that you just got to quietly close and demolish stuff or people will try to sue or change the law to make you keep it. Cedar Point - Space Spiral demolition

I wasn't sure where the attack happened on the property but Disney is going to put up a sculpture. It seams nice. Knott's scans pass at the parking booth and gives you a receipt. I haven't tried to re-enter the parking lot but I believe they told me you just show them the receipt if you return. The season pass will scan multiple times at the gate. I have left the park without a hand stamp and my pass worked a second time at the admission gate without a problem.

Six Flags doesn't own any of the SFMM land. They rent it on a long-term lease that restricts the land to be used as an amusement park or the lease is canceled and the property reverts to the owners. I don't know if they can also build a hotel on the property but they would probably need to start considering a parking garage at that point to make it fit. I doubt a hotel would raise the price of passes as it would be a sperate profit center. SFMM doesn't operate daily like Universal, Knotts, and Disneyland so they would probably need to pull some local offseason weekday business traveler traffic to make a hotel profitable in that expensive of real estate area. Warner Brothers had plans for a CityWalk concept with a hotel/restaurants/shops for the area on what I believe is now the office building they built coming up the hill. As far as I can tell, Six Flags does own the land under a separate LLC known as "Magic Mountain LLC" Delete

The Cal-OSHA report still isn't public from the last breakdown and if Knott's can't make any required corrections or re-open it; I see them demolishing it over leaving the tower SBNO. How do they get the cabin down sooner if the ride breaks down again? Windseeker had to go after the second extended breakdown so Sky Cabin could too. It is a nice ride to take pictures from if the plexiglass wasn't all scratched up by the delinquents.

If they leave the station; then we know that train size is limited by current platform width, so Dive Machine and anything else wider than two seats is out. Would we be down to one of the two new RMCs as coaster options at this point? The Aquatrax didn't look too bad but I don't see Cedar Fair or Six Flags theming anything as well as that previous video from Asia. With all that rockwork and tunnels; it looks more on a Disney or Univeral type attraction that relies too much on scenery to make a family coaster appear more exciting that it would be out in the open as a steel structure with no scenery.

Holiday World (HW) Discussion Thread
SoCalJasonland replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Both can be true. If the park is getting modern attractions with corresponding long lines or other corporate changes; they can always add booze and fast passes to make the wait easier for some people. I can see why some parks don't want to for moral reasons but not everyone is going to want to visit if there is an alternate park choice with bars or beer gardens. -

I say it doesn't reopen but they keep the tower around, sans the actual cabin because it is a Knott's landmark, even if it's not an official one, and honestly it isn't in the way of any future development. In fact I predict that the cabin will be removed soon and the new coaster will wrap around the tower. You heard it here first. Even though I don't ride it much, the Sky Cabin should stay around provided it is allowed to re-open. There is no reason though to leave a rusting abandoned tower standing in an urban theme park, already lacking in space, if they can't re-open it. It would be nice if they saved the "K" and placed it somewhere high instead of a warehouse to be auctioned away, but looking at a permanently closed attraction every day would maddening.

Thoughts on short tunnels?
SoCalJasonland replied to Samuel's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I haven't been on all of those coasters but even a short tunnel can have a head chopper effect, suppress some screams in a particular area, protect riders from falling objects, or look cool as scenery from an off-ride perspective. If the tunnel is too short you can always stop there, back up, change directions again and accelerate out of there like Full Throttle Make that tunnel last. -
It has to do with your version of Windows. Go to google.com and search for "win 98 screenshot" if you have Windows 98. Replace the "98" with your version of Windows. On Windows 8 or 10, the easiest way is hit the Windows Key & Prt Scr and then the screenshot goes to a "Screenshots" folder in your "My Pictures" folder automatically. Your screen will darken slightly if it works.
