  1. I am kind of thinking we will get two new coasters. # 1 - They will re-track Apocalypse and re-name it again into something new. and # 2 - A new recording breaking Mack coaster that will have loop-de-loops and last about 30 seconds. Perhaps, somehow they will interact with each other.
  2. It was my 23rd park visit of the year today. It was also my 23rd Boardwalk BBQ meal and I can honestly state that I am starting to get sick of the BBQ but Boysenberry cider is just as delicious. The extra half-hour in the morning for pass holders and hotel guests really helps to get a lot of rides in. I rode Xcelerator 3 times and Hangtime 5 times between 9:30 - 10:15 am before the regular guests got to the back of the park. Most of the lines during the regular part of the day are under 20 minutes now except for Ghostrider line that still appears well over one hour. The fire in south Orange Couty hills is visible behind Silver Bullet on the Sky Cabin. With many k-12 schools heading back next week, I hope the park is a little more dead. Fire in OC hills Fire in OC hills Xcelerator line during early entry. I had ride to myself for a couple of laps. Hangtime line during early entry Monte has re-opened after valleying at some point. Boardwalk BBQ meal # 23 for the year. Probably about 100 ciders since January too.
  3. The addition looks really nice. Kids should love it. Thanks for the nice report and photos.
  4. PNE looks fun. Does PNE get any additional rides during the fair or is it just what they normally have?
  5. "According to the Kansas City Star, an attorney representing an affiliate of park operator Schlitterbahn said Thursday that the 17-story slide called Verruckt would start coming down a week after Labor Day. The process is expected to take about three weeks." www.nydailynews.com/news/national/ny-news-ny-water-ride-caleb-schwab-20180713-story.html
  6. Nice report but what is wrong with Gold Striker? I always wanted to get up there to ride it.
  7. The Boardwalk BBQ has boysenberry bbq sauce, boysenberry cider & beer. They might have a boysenberry wine too but I can't remember. I think it is the only restaurant that has boysenberry year round except for the punch that is at multiple locations.
  8. Another busy day today with a row and a half of the parking lot being full of school buses plus the normal summer crowds. Ghostriders lines was out the door and heading towards Pan for Gold. App said 1:50 min. The other major coasters, including Hangtime were about one-hour. Chanel 4 was there filing Ghost Town Alive and then moved over by Hangtime. Ghost Town Alive Ghost Town Alive - Channel 4 was filming for news Ghost Town Alive - Channel 4 was filming for news Near Hangtime - Channel 4 was filming for news Near Hangtime - Channel 4 was filming for news Fountain is full of water that looked pretty good today Wipeout Wipeout Monte was broken and resting out of the station
  9. I am just curious where you are from? Is it Florida, where you can just yell "I am standin' my ground" and then open fire into the group of thugs?
  10. Don't know about teh 18th, but the past two weeks have seen weekdays very busy with middle school students on their 8th grade graduation trips, it seems. Lotta line cutting, flirting teenagers, loud rap music on iphones in line.... On the bright side, yesterday both Ghostrider and HAngtime were really tackling their operations issues. Hangtime was actually sending out a train as soon as one came in. I would like to add that on every flat ride I rode, some teenager took out their phone to film it. Ride operators would just yell at them, but they don't listen. This should be a bumper year from Knott's. The economy is still doing really well and they opened their first looping coaster since Silver Bullet. This year at least seems a lot busier than it did the last two years.
  11. Knott's was slam-packed busy on Friday. There must have been 30 - 40 school buses there. If the line for French Fries, "La Papa Loca", should require a FastLane, then Cartman is right and I need my own theme park. Does anyone want to help throw in a part of a million dollars to help me buy Lakeside when I get out to Denver this summer? You can't visit the park as I will be the only one allowed inside the park, but I will get you a cool tee-shirt or something for contributing. Please send one million to my go fund me page now! BTW... the Knott's app showed 2 hour waits for Ghostrider, HangTime and Silver Bullet. I didn't verify any of those, but Monte was close to 40 minutes like the app claimed. Wipeout Wipeout Hoedown but I had no part Donnie Darko bunny carousel Ouch! Ouch! French fry line
  12. I braved a park visit today for a few hours today. Ghostrider's line was out the door and half-way to the gold mining facility. Xcelerator came in second on lines with a line to the vending machines. Hangtime stated a half-hour wait on the app, but a ride breakdown caused me to wait about one-hour. Waits for all the flats were approx one to two cycles. SOL Spin has re-opened. The Calico Mine Stage is coming along nicely and apparently will have log rolling and trampolines. Wipeout's reconstruction is actually at the ride vehicle stage. And if it wasn't for school groups, it would have been pretty dead today. Stage work in ghost town Log rolling and trampolines Wipeout sounds so surfing related Wait times around 2 pm on Thursday Wait times around 2 pm on Thursday
  13. The park has been really busy this week, so this Sunday should likely be busy too and it will be hot near 90 degrees. I would run to either Ghostrider or Hangtime first. Both coasters will have waits in the 1:30 - 2-hour ranges. Xcelerator and Silver Bullet will be closer to 1 to 1:30-hour waits. The rest of the park will range from 10 minutes to an hour waits.
  14. I went to the park on Thursday for a couple of hours. The park was busy because of all of the school groups, so I pretty much got my Boardwalk BBQ, Monte, and a few flat rides before leaving. SOL Spin is for Dummies. Wipeout's pad is almost ready for its return adjacent to the Sky Cabin. Hangtime waits haven't been added to the app yet but appeared to be about one-hour. Plus, I love cat filters now. SOL Spin for Dummies New Wipeout pad Hangtime I waited 20 minutes for Monte so the wait times weren't too accurate
  15. Either trip should be fun: If you decide to go to Cedar Point, I would get a Knott's platinum pass with meals and hit Cedar Point and Kings Island for a few day vacation. If you decide to go to the east coast, I would get a high-level Magic Mountain pass and hit Six Flags New England and Great Adventure. You can also stop by Coney Island and the Jersey shore parks but they would cost extra. or Great Adventure, Six Flags America, Kings Dominion, and Busch Gardens Europe. Any of these trips are worth visiting and you can't go wrong with any choice.
  16. Congrats to Knott's for breaking the top 10 in theme park attendance in the USA. Knott's nudged out Seaworld Orlando and are the only non-Disney/Universal park in the top 10. http://www.teaconnect.org/images/files/TEA_268_653730_180517.pdf Knotts breaks top 10 in attendance
  17. If you want to eat at the park, the Boardwalk BBQ is the only newer place in the park. I like the tri-tip, pulled pork, and half-chicken the best. If you go outside the park, try Porto's or Portillo's. Both are about a mile away from the park in Buena Park. Darn, I wish I was available on Friday for the TV spot. Luckily, I got a lot of rides in last Friday.
  18. Wow! Hangtime is by a small margin, my favorite coaster at Knott's. The entire coaster is exciting from the lift hill to the brake run. I thought Xcelerator made lift hills unnecessary, but leaning back on a 90-degree incline without shoulder restraints is kind of insane in a good way. I managed to get in 15 rides on it during the day without any type of a headache, soreness or bruising from the restraints. I didn't get bored on it either. The only negatives are assigned seating and that I previously overestimated the hourly capacity at 640 people per hour based upon 90-second dispatches. I timed the dispatches when I waited in line once in the morning and again in the afternoon. The best dispatch time was 1 min 56 secs and the worst was over 4 minutes when they had an issue with the restraints. The hourly capacity on this ride will be closer to 400 - 480 per hour. This coaster will probably match Ghostrider for 2 plus hour lines all summer. Boardwalk BBQ changed its menu. The combos only come with one side now instead of two. They did add ribs to the meal plan and the chicken lovers now get a half-chicken instead of one-quarter chicken. Tri-tip increased from 1/4 lb to 1/3 lb. Pulled pork and smoked sausage portions remain the same, so they just pretty much lost a side and gained a dollar in price without gaining anything else. Hangtime dispatch times in the morning - see right column Hangtime dispatch times in the early afternoon - it was only about a 5 train wait until 2 pm Hangtime Hangtime Hangtime Boardwalk BBQ platters lost a side Boardwalk BBQ new menu boards Boardwalk BBQ new menu boards
  19. That's incredible. So do you audition at Knott's or some offsite ad agency?
  20. Just a couple of pictures from 420 day at Knott's. It's getting there. 420 HangTime Progress 420 HangTime Progress 420 HangTime Progress
  21. Hands belong in the air like you just don't care. Wacky and wavy
  22. I went to the park today for a few hours. Everything except for Coast Rider and possibly Jaguar was one train operations. I asked a couple of ride operators if anyone had ridden Hangtime yet and a couple of them told me that they had ridden it during testing yesterday. No one could tell me if they planned to soft open or test with guests. The contractors were working on landscaping so no Hangtime testing during my visit. I was ready to put my life on the line though if they needed me. I am a giver when it comes to coaster testing. Crazy mid-week Xcelerator crowds Can you find the cat in this photo? Hint: he is on the rock to the left of the tree in the middle of the photo. Closer view of kitty BBQ meal # 11 of the year! Pulled pork and cider.
  23. Does anyone know if platinum pass holders get a discount on the boysenberry tasting card? I was thinking of going on Saturday for the food.
  24. That's nice that they bring rides indoors for the weather-challenged people It reminds me of an indoor carnival I visited at the Skylon Tower in Niagra as a child.
