  1. But hasn't his M.O. been more about getting rid of the free or costly-to-operate elements of the resorts he has bought? I feel like Adventuredome probably is profitable enough to leave as is, even if he doesn't seem fit to invest any more into the property. I saw an article that states Phil Ruffin's primary objectives for the Circus Circus were Slots of Fun being underperforming and he wasn't sure if the RV Park and the Events Center as being the best use of the property. There was no mention of any changes to the Adventure Dome. Unfortunately, the private equity firm Z Capital is also known for cutting expenses to the bone and they own Strat and Buffalo Bills, so who knows what rides are ultimately safe in Vegas.
  2. Knott's might be getting a new 2020 attraction from Triotech. There will be an announcement on Nov. 19th. This makes me a little worried about Mystery Lodge but hopefully, that fear is misdirected. https://www.ocregister.com/2019/10/23/knotts-berry-farm-drops-hints-about-new-attraction-for-100th-anniversary-celebration-in-2020/ "What does Knott’s Berry Farm have planned for its 100th anniversary celebration? Let the guessing game begin as the Buena Park theme park teases a new attraction for the 2020 season. Knott’s and Triotech will make an announcement on Nov. 19 about a new attraction coming in 2020 that will once again pair the park with the ride maker behind the Voyage to the Iron Reef interactive dark ride. A press conference is scheduled during the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions Expo 2019 in Florida with a tantalizing tagline: “Together with Knott’s Berry Farm, Triotech will announce a new attraction celebrating the park’s 100th anniversary.” Knott’s Berry Farm will make an announcement soon, officials said."
  3. That's true. I know a lot of adults that have to work Saturdays and if you have kids in school M-F, then Sunday is your only errand day to go shopping, etc... Chic-fil-a seems to get adequate lunch and dinner traffic during the week to stay profitable enough for its owners without being open on Sunday. With mall stores struggling though, I wouldn't want to give up a busy weekend day unless I was getting a rent adjustment for it.
  4. So, you have to pay to park and it is located in the only county in the USA that forces all of the retail stores to be closed on Sundays. How did they convince any stores to rent there when half their weekend is shot and people have cheaper options on parking?
  5. If you read the Yelp and TripAdvisor reviews for Buffalo Bills, it is completely vacant most of the time. If you stop by on a Saturday when they are having a concert that weekend, the coaster might be open. The rest of the time, it sounds like there are less than 10 people in the whole place, so no use for any entertainment, most of the restaurants, or even table games, to be open.
  6. If Cedar Six Flags is anything like Wall Street, they will find a way to combine Dorney Park, Michigan's Adventure, any Six Flags crap, plus all the takeover debt, into some other spinoff company with just enough reserves to last a couple of years before it sinks to the bottom of the ocean. I think they will call it Parques Titanica.
  7. Unless everyone in your company is a thrill/rollercoaster junky, I would go with Disneyland / DCA over Magic Mountain. Disneyland is probably the most once in a lifetime park for most people if you are traveling from far away. All the parks will likely be busy on that Saturday, so you might want to include the cost of the line-skipping pass in your cost estimates. Knott's is also only open 9 am - 5 pm that Saturday because of the haunt.
  8. I think you are too late. Scandia Screamer / Big Coaster is no longer listed on Rides4u.com. They either pulled the listing or sold it. You can still pick up the PNE Playland Corkscrew though
  9. It really isn't any more stressful to drive here if you can accept the fact that you might average 30 miles per hour and have a GPS driving program with realtime traffic like Google or Apple Maps / Waze. I drive 20,000 miles per year on Southern California roads and they aren't really different than any other major city. You will save some money by not paying for parking at 5 places if you take Uber but the trips could be expensive going across town. The only other option is Metrolink and Metro but you wanted stress free travel, so they would not apply with their holiday schedules
  10. Good, I hate when they do that sh*t on log flumes. I don't mind as much with seat dividers but still, I'm more than okay with this. Ever since I have gone to amusement parks as a teenager with guy friends; I have told the grouper "one person" on a log ride or the Disneyland Matterhorn and always got my own seat. Is there a park that makes you ride with someone else in your lap if you don't want to? Just tell them that your religion prevents you from sitting in another woman's/man's lap if they give you an issue.
  11. I have been on it twice during the week since the seat remodels and most of the logs were being dispatched with 2 people with an occasional 3 people, so it was taking a lot longer than normal. I am guessing the seat dividers added weight to the logs because they do take on more water during the drops. They were seating 2 people in the middle of the log with no attempts to join 2 parties of 2 together to make a log of 4 people.
  12. Yes, there are 1ockers of various sizes down by the Ghostrider station.
  13. It sounds like they are not taking out the tram tour from the regular admission, but they are trying to sell the nicer backstage tour that is part of the VIP Experience as a separate add on.
  14. I didn't ride the ones in Europe but the Youtube videos seem to indicate that those cars actually spin. I rode the one at SFMM twice. On one ride, we didn't flip or spin at all and it felt like riding a Ferris Wheel car slightly rocking back and forth through the track. On the other ride, the car only flipped once heading on the final curve into the station. Unfortunately, the brakes in the station stopped the car so violently from the spin, I thought my heart popped out of my chest and felt ill for the next couple of hours. I asked why these cars didn't spin normally and were told they put weights on the bottom of the cars, to keep them more upright and cause less loading problems. Unfortunately, the weights also ruined the ride. I guess you will let us know if they found a way to make the cars spin again when they hook this up for La Ronde.
  15. They also did that with Deja Vu. Once a coaster becomes a problem, they pack it up and move it somewhere else.
  16. Wow, 16 months of Platinum level Flash Pass for $229 in the current sale is probably the best part of it. Come out to only $14.31 per month.
  17. What? How do you manage to get hurt on Scream? It's one of the smoothest rides in the park! It's not even in the top 10 smoothest rides in the park, head banging, rattle galore. I'm was dumbfounded when I rode Bizarro at Gradv, butter smooth and enjoyable. Not sure where B&M went wrong with this one... If the train rattles through the track, then that is normally a maintenance issue and not a B&M issue. If you get a shopping cart at the grocery store and the bearings are bad or dirty on one wheel and the whole cart rattles and seizes up when you try to push it straight, you don't blame the ground; you get another cart. I have had many smooth rides on this, so if it was a track issue, the ride would be rough all the time. many do blame b&m track. it's why b%m rattle is a thing after some years. scream today is one of the worst offenders. is it poor maintenance, track, or wheels, who knows, but scream is definitely not opening day smooth anymore. universal didn't just redo the entire track for the incredible hulk for no reason. I personally could live with the rattle if they designed new trains without OTSRs. Revolution went from an F-rated coaster back to an A-rated coaster for me by removing the OTSRs. No one likes to be batted in the neck with a hard foam-padded bar throughout the ride. If the rattle alone killed me, I would have given up on wood coasters long ago.

  19. Scandia Victorville looks like they got the drop tower and a tilt-a-whirl from the closed Ontario location. Neither is listed on their site yet, but I had to drive near here for work today and took a couple of photos. Unfortunately, the park was closed, so I had to take the pictures from the fence. The Sacramento location added a Norway Flyer attraction but that didn't come from the closed Ontario location. The rest of the rides are still listed for sale. You better hurry if you want something www.rides4u.com/rides/used/packages/20 They are building a Tilt-A-Whirl in front of the batting cage Drop tower from Scandia Ontario
  20. Pickle dog episode was on again today. I guess it is just a way to use dill relish in a corn dog.
  21. I love the Automat. It reminds me of the scene in the movie, Dark City.
  22. Another point is If you pay a lot of money to travel around the country, the last thing you want to do it ride several Boomerangs, many B&M Batman clones, the same Vekoma suspended coaster, etc... Locals that don't travel tend to not notice all of the repeats and don't care. This board is filled with more of the people that travel and don't want to ride the same coaster at different parks.
  23. Now I remember the Carnival Eats episode. Chicky's took a giant dill pickle, cored it with an apple corer, stuck a hotdog in it, battered it, and deep-fried it. It must have been the Big Pickle Dog. I wonder what will sell first? The Corkscrew from PNE or the old Scandia Screamer from Ontario California. The Corkscrew has loops and is half the price, so who knows. www.rides4u.com/view/3234 Corkscrew www.rides4u.com/view/3277 Scandia Screamer
  24. I just saw Chicky’s Chicken on Carnival Eats on the Cooking Chanel. The food looked good.
  25. This is the old folk song we used to sing while we were building' the log ride: I got my first real construction job Got it at the Knotts Berry Farm Worked it 'til my fingers bled Was the summer of sixty-nine Me and some guys from school Worked together and we tried real hard Jimmy quit, Jody got married I should've known we'd never get far Oh, when I look back now That summer seemed to last forever And if I had the choice Yeah, I'd always wanna be there Those were the best days of my life Oh, yeah Back in the summer of sixty-nine, oh We were building that log ride in sixty-nine Yeah
