  1. Two days with Fastlane should be good enough to ride everything. All of July is very busy and attendance will not drop off until mid-August. As you can see from the current wait times that some of the better coasters can be one to two hours without Fastlane on a Monday morning. If you stay on property you also get into the park a little early but I have no idea how much that is worth it to you.
  2. Wow, I missed this thread but Parque Reunidos is also responsible for running our local park, Castle Park in Riverside California, into the ground. Our log ride broke a couple of weeks ago when a log flipped and ejected people and I think there is a rule that at least three of Castle Park's major attractions must be broken at any one time. Our Screamin Demon coaster, fireball, spider and log ride are all broken/closed.
  3. Well, at least they have Cheeseburgers. I didn't see Margaritas on the menu or a Buffet music channel. The park looks nice but not very Margaritaville.
  4. Your second paragraph centers around Ohio. That area of the country is still losing factory jobs to automation and foreign countries, so the economy isn't as strong as other areas of the country. As far as CGA, I live in So Cal and planned to visit one day on my CF Platinum Pass. Unfortunately, that one good ride hasn't convinced me to spend the money on travel if the rest of the part is substandard to Knott's or SFMM in So Cal. That park was neglected far too long when they were considering closing it.
  5. If you want to hit both parks in one day, I would recommend: 1. Fly into DIA and arrive about 8 - 9 am. 2. Take the "A" train to Union Station, about 40 min / $10.50 3. Walk approx. 1 mile to Elitch Gardens and stay until bored 4. Uber to Lakeside (approx. 5 miles each way from downtown) 5. Uber to Union Station when finished with Lakeside 6. Take "A" train back to the airport from Union Station The light rail train is nice, clean, picks up at the airport, and runs past midnight. You can get discount tickets online for Elitch at their website. Groupon has discounts for Lakeside but you have to purchase two admissions for the discount. If you don't need two Lakeside admission tickets, you might as well pay at the gate as it is not that expensive. I would plan to eat at the airport or downtown. There is nothing really edible within walking distance of Lakeside. This is the schedule for the train that runs from the airport to downtown: www3.rtd-denver.com/schedules/getSchedule.action?routeType=32&routeId=A&serviceType=4
  6. I haven't noticed gang problems or violence at Lakeside. It is just a little run down and spooky in a Silent Hill or Final Destination kind of way. I would definitely not plan on eating or drinking anything at Lakeside though. Elitch is actually a nice walk from the light rail station that runs from the airport to downtown. It is worth taking for one of the legs.
  7. You will need an international drivers permit before driving in Japan and obtain it before you visit. Per the US Embassy: https://jp.usembassy.gov/u-s-citizen-services/local-resources-of-u-s-citizens/driving-in-japan/
  8. Does the expansion plan include any new rides or has that not been announced yet?
  9. Who were those models? None of the people in those water park photos were fat enough to be Jimmy Buffet fans.
  10. I hope Magic Mountain stays open year round. It is awesome during the week. People must be finally forgetting about the Blackfish movie?
  11. I used my shakey cam to get an off-ride video of the rapids ride plus a few photos. [youtu_be] [/youtu_be] Entrance Outside queue Queue house Queue house Queue house Lift
  12. I had an afternoon appt in Rancho Cucamonga on Friday, so I stopped by Scandia for some photos and see the demolition process. The demolition permits have been issued but I don't see a demolition date yet on the city website. All rides appear to have been removed except for the pirate galleon. I got these photos from the fence around the property. Empty bumper boats Golf course No water in the golf course fountains No water in the golf course fountains Front entrance area Big coaster station Old ride buildings Scandia sign and missing drop tower Last ride left Old ride buildings
  13. Since I had to work in Orange Couty twice this week, I went back to the park on Friday. It was drizzling with a lot of school kids for some festival of music, so I didn't last long. First off, I got to commend a disabled person for having the guts to tie up a beagle and take him through Snoopy's home park. Then, for once, a disabled person thought I was crazy and didn't know what I was talking about. Perhaps it was the beagle's choice and led him here. I don't know. Many of you have seen the fake rooster in front of Mrs. Knott's Chicken Dinner. The real rooster is smart and hangs out at the gift shop. Why did the rooster hide at the gift shop? Because the chicken restaurant was around the corner. One puma, and zero men. Please call security. 14. It may have started out like that but most places find that cats prefer to kill all of the birds vs. mice/rats. I read the other day that Australia is going to kill a few million feral cats because they are extincting everything but the mice and rats.
  15. Wednesday's visit to Knott's was nice. Despite having quite a few busses in the east lot and north dirt lot, the park was relatively dead. Ghostrider and Xcelerator got up to a two train wait at times and log ride had a 10 min wait, but no waits for anything else. There are some cats living in the Ghostrider line on the opposite side of the line from the Pan for Gold attraction. I finally asked why the pan for gold smells good sometimes as they have something heating on a little stove. He said that was chlorine from the water baking off when they dried the sand on the stove. I feel stupid now. Finally, got some pictures of Calico River rapids ride. Cats living in the Ghostrider line near the Pan for Gold Calico River - entrance Calico River - shack Calico River - log Calico River - bear with salmon Calico River - men moving logs Calico River - 2 men and a puma Calico River - 2 men and a puma Calico River - water explosion area Calico River - drenching stations
  16. I'm at the park and there's no line for Ghost Rider. Both trains are running. Possibly all week.
  17. I found these Disney job preview videos on Youtube and some seem pretty interesting: https://www.youtube.com/user/DisneyParks/search?query=Every+Role+a+Starring+Role Every Role a Starring Role - Radiator Springs Electrician | Disneyland Resort [youtu_be] [/youtu_be]
  18. Yeah, why not Buffet-related names like "Parrothead Plunge" or "Wastin' Away Again Lazy River"? The names might be brilliant. They spend millions building this place but nobody hears about it unless you spend millions more on national marketing. So then you name your water slides after Twitter Hashtags and people feel the need to tell everyone else how stupid your names are on Twitter. The true Parrotheads are offended, see how awesome the complex looks on the website, and decide to support their persecuted leader with a visit. The park would rather encourage people to post/advertise everything about their vacation on social media then settle drowning claims for people wasting away in the Lazy River on too many Margaritas. I think that name alone would make you lose any drowning lawsuit
  19. Yes... they have ponds/fountains, dropped food, greenery, and for the most part, they are not harassed or force evicted. Geese and ducks normally nest in shrubbery near bodies of water, so a shrub next to a fountain or water ride containment pool looks like a natural home to them. Six Flad is unwilling to let Yosemite Sam or Elmer Fudd fix the problem, so the geese and ducks never leave
  20. If the lighted wheel concept fails because the wheels wear out too soon, you could just put LEDs on the sides of the coaster trains and use induction chargers above or underneath the trains in the station to recharge them. The wheel covers or anything else on the trains could be lit and not need to modify the wheels. LEDs can follow a chase pattern if you want them to appear to rotate or move, so the wheel rotation is unnecessary for movement.
  21. It really depends on the situation and any of the following can happen: 1. If the ride manufacturer broke a term of the contract then they can be sued and possibly be forced to file bankruptcy if they lose and have insufficient assets to pay the judgment. 2. parties could negotiate and settle out of court. 3. the ride manufacturer can go out of business before anyone has a chance to sue them. 4. the park and manufacturer could settle on a price reduction on a future attraction. 5. the park may just have to eat the loss because the contract was written in favor of the manufacturer.
  22. My Top 10 rankings for 2019 are: 1. Disneyland 2 Knotts 3. SFMM 4. DCA 5. Seaworld 6. Legoland 7. Santa Monica Pier 8. Any of the fairs that show up each year 9. Staying home and playing an old copy of RCT 10. Castle Park
  23. It is a good week to visit Knott's for the Boysenberry festival. I visited the park on April 9, Tue for a few hours and got to try some of the Boysenberry items. The food was good and there were no lines except for Ghostrider, Log Ride, and the front row of Xcelerator, and I would place each of those at approx 30 minutes. The food stands and other rides might have a 5-minute wait. I checked the park cams today and the park also appears dead compared to the last couple of weeks.
  24. I am a little confused. If you live or stay there, are you just allowed to use the water park whenever you want and is it covered in the HOA or hotel fees? It would be cool if you could just float around in the lazy river every afternoon with a margarita.
  25. I visited Knott's and nothing is new on the rapids construction and it looks like the railroad tracks washed out again in the recent heavy rains. Knott's has replaced the taco restaurant near the hat dance in Fiesta Village with a new hot dog place. The location is on the dining plan. "Whether you are in the mood for a good ole classic hot dog or looking to spice it up a bit, you’ve come to the right place! Fiesta Dogs has a delicious selection of all beef hot dogs, dressed up baked potatoes, as well as beer and wine including craft beers, import cans, and Michelada. Feeling adventurous? Try the Spicy Sausage with jalapenos or the Mexican Dog with bacon and peppers, just to name a few. Like your baked potato plain? No problem. Like your baked potato dressed with bacon, chili, peppers, onions, and cheese? We’ve got that too. Kids’ dog, chips, and a Vegan dog area also available. With seating in the nearby plaza, Fiesta Dogs is the perfect place to grab a meal and enjoy the festive environment of Fiesta Village. Gluten-free bun is also available upon request. Fiesta Dogs is a quick service location in Fiesta Village between the rides La Revolucion and Hat Dance. Dining Plan Options Plain All Beef Hot Dog Chili Cheese Dog Mexican Dog with bacon and peppers Bratwurst with sauerkraut Spicy Sausage with jalapenos Foot Long All Beef Dog with peppers and onions Vegan Dog on a bed of peppers and onions All hot dogs served with choice of chips or baked potato."
