According to this Alabama site that is covering the addition of the coffin challenge to SFOG, over 25,000 people applied for the challenge in St Louis, so they extended the challenge to the rest of their parks. I didn't think $300 was much money but 25,000 applicants states otherwise. https://www.al.com/news/index.ssf/2018/09/six_flags_over_georgia_spend_3.html

Lakemont Park changes
SoCalJasonland replied to thrillrider's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
"We'll have roller coasters, we'll have the Skyliner and the world's oldest roller coaster, the Lead the Dips will still be there, we'll have the Tin Lizzy's," said Cohen. I want to ride "Lead" the Dips. I would feel like the leader of the losers. -
That reminds me of an article on historic landmarks a San Diego Architectural magazine did in 1980 when mentioning the the Giant Dipper: "Now there is talk of restoring the roller coaster. There always is.". Not to mention a whole bunch of other Doubting Thomas opinions and look what happened. Unnecessary comments are so easily dismissed. Sorry. I’m certainly not an expert, but I would imagine that the cost of building a pier in California alone is not cheap, let alone building and operating the ride. Hope your mysterious investors have deep pockets—-if they even exist. It's about a $70M project. That includes the pier 14 rides plus the coaster. I'm one of the investors myself. Your coaster model is awesome and your research on the coaster appears impeccable. Unfortunately, I don't see the business model to reproduce the coaster as being successful. These coasters were profitable 80 years ago because they were state of the art at the time and drew big crowds. Disneyland, Knott's and Magic Mountain didn't exist and this coaster was probably the most exciting thing going around for a few years. People lined up and they paid off the fixed costs of buying the land and building the coaster quickly. These days, the older designed coasters are lucky to cover the variable costs of operating and maintaining them, so ACE has to help sometimes. I don't think any of the existing beachside wood coasters would be able to cover the original land acquisition or building costs if they were required to, as those portions were likely paid off long ago. You are better off investing your money in a beach house at Mission Beach or Santa Cruz and letting them worry about how to keep their coasters running so you can ride them.

Just when you think contests can't get any better, they go and do something like this. Spend 30 hours in a coffin and you could win $300. It sounds like bad click banner bait but this is real. https://wgntv.com/2018/09/23/contestants-can-spend-30-hours-in-a-coffin-to-win-300-slightly-used-coffin-at-st-louis-six-flags/

I visited Knott's today and asked a couple of Ghost Rider ride ops if they can run three trains now and both said "no". The ride doesn't appear to have been altered at all over the yearly Sept maintenance. They haven't sped up the loading process either, so adding another train would not do anything anyway. Now everyone put on your Silver Shamrock Halloween masks and gather around the TV. There is a big giveaway at 9 pm.

They should let you smoke a blunt in the designated smoking areas. Get a THC e-cig in fruit or another neutral scent/flavor. This is why we don’t get nice things. It is not legal to partake in these things in public. I wasn't suggesting that people use drugs. I was just suggesting that if you want to use nicotine, alcohol, marijuana or other drugs in public, that courtesy is key. Your habit shouldn't blow into other people's faces, smell up the place or affect other people. I am not putting you down for your comments but just clarifying my position on the matter.

I ended up feeling a little dizzy and left before lunch. I think I was dehydrated, but two questions: 1. Did Knott's send anyone to the lunch to answer questions and did they address if they are re-adding a block brake on Ghost Rider to run a third train? 2. Why do they have extra Silver Bullet track lying around and how big was your prize?

The only differences I could see between regular and gold season passes are parking and bonus friend ticket on select days. If you go to the Flash Sale and look under MEMBERSHIP VS PASS - A GUIDE at the top of the page, it will take you to a checklist of all the benefits for each level. I was only able to capture part of the screen so it best to visit the page yourself. https://www.sixflags.com/magicmountain/store/flash-sale#ref51057

Question about Diamond Elite Member discounts. Right now the 2019 season Gold Season Flash Pass is on sale for $199. If you have the Diamond Elite membership, can you pick up the Flash Pass for $99.50 or is the 50% discount not good on sale prices? I am currently a gold member so I can't try to add it to find out, but I would upgrade if I could get the discount off the sale price.

According to the LA Times, Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge cantina will serve pre-mixed alcoholic beverages. A first at Disneyland for regular park guests. Apparently, they are not going to let people leave the cantina with their drinks and walk around Disneyland though. www.latimes.com/business/la-fi-disneyland-star-wars-land-20180830-story.html

I went to the park today for about 3 hours. The log ride was the only ride with a line today and it was possibly 10 minutes. I had a one-train wait for Ghost Rider during my several rides. I was able to stay on Hangtime in the rear row for 3 laps straight because no one else was waiting. I would suggest people visit either Thursday or Friday this week so you can get some rides on Ghost Rider before it closes next Tuesday for repairs. The park wasn't weekday in October dead, but pretty dead none the less. Most of the coaster were being deployed with empty rows towards the middle.

I read an article that states that the original hotel project was supposed to add 1,000 permanent jobs at the hotel with no other job losses. When Disney moved the project, they had to shut down existing businesses, including Rainforest Cafe and other places, resulting in 450 job losses. I guess Anaheim wasn't pleased that they were only going to get 550 net job increases instead of 1,000 for all those millions of dollars that they were giving away and disputed the agreement.

Wow, I used to do something like that during the 90s. There was a bus pickup stop near the Lantern Development Center at the 57 & 60 freeways. I would call the Bingo numbers on the bus for the old people and they would give me their coaster coupons out of our special fun book. Now I see a lot of buses headed toward Pechanga as I don't think people want to travel as far to play slots.
