Six Flags America (SFA) Discussion Thread

sheesh. it reminds me of those we saw complaining the other week at SFFT that WhiteWater Bay grand opening was only for Memberships from Noon-3 (and open to the public after 3). we just shook our heads, and felt bad for the security at the entrance there, and then you know what we did with our Season Passes? Enjoyed the rest of the park, for a few hours, and I went into Whitewater bay after 3pm to take pictures of the opening weekend. I just don't understand some people, and feel real sympathy for park employees that have to deal with these type of folks. (so always try to be pleasant when dealing with Park employees). and to reiterate what I said a few pages ago - I refused to set foot on Apocalypse, when we were there last year - but look forward to riding Firebird if I ever make another stop at SFA. Looks like a fantastic improvement, even if one has to wait a few weeks for it to be open to the "General Public" -

Gold level Season Passes do that too. . .and often, during one of the "always seem to be going on" sales - they upgrade standard Season Pass to "Gold" as a perk. we just do the Gold Season Pass, and that's what works for us. -
such a great report from Disneyland Paris. never been (yet) to the parks outside the US, and had no idea this Hyperspace Mountain has inversions! (is it like Rock N Roller Coaster crossed with Space Mountain?). if I ever get to France, this park is on my list, tho it's not my "bucket list" Disney (that would be Tokyo DisneySea). thanks for the great pics & report, and glad you had a good time!

^^ agreed congrats! as to me: it's been a difficult week for me in terms of staying on plan, as I went to see Avengers at Alamo Drafthouse, and way overdid it with Thanos Burger (double meat patty with several types of cheese), and a Salted Caramel milkshake. I mean, it could have been worse - I did swap out the fries for fruit, and drank water instead of soda/tea. but that was on Wed - then on Friday, we had a company celebration, where i tried to stick to proteins (shrimp, tuna/salmon bites, Roast Beef) and veggies..but did give in and have a slice of cake and a cupcake on top of it. then yesterday, we met up with friends who have birthdays between mine and yesterday, and we ended up at Serrano's for Mexican food (on Cinco de Star Wars, instead of today ). . . so ate too many chips, and had a Mexican Martini. (but at least ordered chicken / pork fajitas and only ate 1/2 (the other 1/2 will be for lunch tomorrow), and again, drank water. so it's not really the issue of what I'm eating, but rather the quantity of it.. I ate way more of the Serranos food than I should of, even with taking 1/2 home, as I was full but kept eating. avoiding the scale until next weekend to not make myself crazy. and looking on the bright side: 1) I DID stick to my "no sodas" rule, only drinking water, even when out (and even tho I had a milkshake and a cocktail during the week. .at least no soda). Technically I stuck to the "no fast food" rule too, as even tho I had a burger, it was at a restaurant, not a drive thru. 2) I DID stick with my exercise, so every day, I still did between 45-1:05 minute walk (either outside or on treadmill) 3) checking my blood pressure today at the Grocery Store, it came in at 117/76. . .so not only "normal" as considered standard, but also well under the 140/100 my Doctor wants me to stay under. This is without any BP meds, that I've been off of for almost 3 years at this point. so I guess it's been a "win" week, even tho I feel hugely fat. -

It's a vomit machine like the one here at SFOT. Don't be surprised if this thing has a lot of down time due to the seats needing to be cleaned out. SFOT *did* place it right behind Johnny Rockets. . so lots of . . um. . .non-intelligent people riding it right after eating. Personally, I LOVED Catwoman's Whip at SFOT, it has tons of forces, and I rode it multiple times. I wonder if this one will have slightly stronger forces, as this appears to be single seat model (as opposed to SFOT's version being double seats on each "arm"). Hopefully this will be up and running smoothly when we get to the park in ~1 month! -

I'm hoping that since this is a Monday, in early June, that most kiddos are still in school, so won't be bad Most St. Louis schools are out for the summer before Memorial Day, actually. Crowds still shouldn't be too awful, but I'd try and get there as early as possible. well, poop. but at least most parents will be at work. . . it's a bit early for everyone (ie: parents) to be off for Summer Vacation. so hopefully won't be too bad, as you said. -

to clarify on the answer to this one: it's one per day. so you can bring a friend free every time they offer it during the season (unless they specify to say "during this period, you can bring a friend free". . in which case, it's only once per period). but no, it's not only only once per season. -

he's a really good actor when he cares about the material (see: "Kidding" series or "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind").. but yeah, he's just hamming it up here. lots of decent actors slumming in this, and as Canobie noted: there was such a backlash on the trailer, they announced they are redesigning Sonic (after the film is done!) to remove the human teeth, and to take away the "human" legs.

he was a wonderful, kind, man too.. always so generous with his time when I saw him in Atlanta at Dragon*con (almost every year).

with Mind Eraser just around the corner from it, isn't the amount of headbanging considered minimal regardless? I will note, that when we stopped at this park last Summer, I passed riding Apocalypse (tho we DID ride Mind Eraser, and Roar. . go figure ).. . but I WOULD ride Firebird. -

That tiny piece of track on the left looks so lonely. the short section going up the center looks so sad too. . but yeah, the little piece you pointed out looks like it's just a bug hanging on for dear life. so sad .. . .but hopefully something really cool will eventually come in to take it's place in KD line up. -
yep. . the offer ties to the park your pass was issued at. if you don't live in the city, these offers sometimes show up via your pass/membership email newsletters (two years in a row we've bought the SFFT dining pass, as they just kept dropping the price - lower than what you see as an offer. . . so it was nuts NOT to buy it. you eat twice, and it's paid for itself). so even if you're not a "regular" at MM, I'd jump on this deal if you go at least twice in the year.

at least it wasn't about Arrow Corkscrew. . that would have us all "questioning"

From Fiesta Texas. . . riding in a giant strawberry? Apple? who the hell knows..there was no wait for it, so we rode it (for the 1st time ever)

Ok. . just got back from seeing it. And managed to be almost completely unspoiled (tho someone in a meme kinda spoiled some of the Thor stuff. . but oh well, it was minor enough). thought it was REALLY good, tho could have used a trim of about 30 minutes. lots of nods to comic readers, including a few things I didn't think we'd ever see on a movie screen. Saw it at Alamo Drafthouse, wonderful reserved seating, 30 minute pre-show recap (during ordering/serving times) of all the Marvel films thus far (and important plot points going into this film) oh. .and the food. went way off diet, tho I stuck to water to drink, and subbed out the fries on my Thanos Burger for fruit (then blew it all in a snap (ha!) with a salted caramel milkshake. . . but at the Alamo Drafthouse. I HAD to) most importantly? one of the best reasons to go to Alamo Drafthouse for films (besides the food/drinks, the pre-show shorts, and the no-talking/no-texting strict rules)? they do all kinds of fun stuff, like this "memorial" display they had up in the lobby
