OK: here it is, RedLine Park. This is an example of how I build my RCT2 parks, and features a lot of different elements along the way. You will find it's not fancy, nor does it feature add-ons and trainers- Just the stuff that comes with RCT2 and the add on expansion packs. The basic premise of the park is this: Earn 25,000 in ride tickets in one month. I'm having some trouble posting all the pics in one shot, so I'll be starting with a few and adding on as time and the computer permits. The first bit of pictures are the development of the park, as well as Phase 1. Phase 2 and Phase 3 will be coming along in the upcoming week or two, and will feature more developed areas as well as more involved rides. Enjoy, R.D. SCR1.BMP Creating the initial phase 1 of the park. The Berm in front is for the future Train/Monorail station. SCR2.BMP Gardens are added, and other scenery elements. SCR3.BMP The park is opened, and the first coaster is added: A Schwarzkopf Shuttle loop. (King Kobra) SCR4.BMP The first two flats; The Orbiter, and the Enterprise, both without scenery.

Vekoma Roller Coasters
QueerRudie replied to kingdakacor's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I think that's a loaded question overall; I've found a few good Vekomas... and a whole lotta BAD vekomas. We're talking the kind which make you want to melt the thing down and start all over again. I really enjoy riding the Invertigo Class of coasters, as they tend to be quite nice a ride, and are generally smooth (TwoFace at SFA was a good example) but if there's a Hang and Bang SLC, I'll ride it once for the credit, and move on. R.D. -
I know my BF gets sick on some rides, but I don't as a general rule. For him, we have a known 'stop now' point- and we'll do a gentle ride or show to prevent illness in depth. To really avoid nausea, he won't go on loopers/spinners, and I respect his requests for that (which is why, yet again, DL is the perfect park for us!) R.D.

Truly sad, but hopefully some small park will restore this ride to it's unique goodness. My last ride on it was summer 98- in 115 degree Vegas heat... The push-pull effects on LB were stunning to say the least! Good luck to a happy future for it! R.D.

The more I see and read about Star Port 75's new audio, the more I wish that perhaps Star Port 77 would do something similar. Don't get me wrong- I consider DL to be my home park, and I'm looking forward to GG next month... but the audio on the trains is enough to cause a hemmorage due to the volume. If I want an ear-ache, I'll go find a Vekoma SLC. The way it was announced out is, by FAR, the best thing I've seen in a long time from Disney as far as promotion of an attraction is concerned. Using the '1955 DL style poster and graphics' fits so well with the re-themed Star Port 75's theming. If there were any way to go back and 'plus' the existing Star Ports, I'd be first in line to do so- there is something timeless and historical about the way Disney did the revisions to the original that really does shield it from being 'outdated'. Kudos to Disney for making sure that their famous Mountain doesn't go flat! R.D.

Crystal ball 1. Doubts none. However, the name does leave something to be desired... I know there's new people in managment all around SixFlags, but PLEASE may they name thing a -wee- bit more originally. (Considering the proximity of SFOG to Atlanta international, perhaps 'Hub Buster' might even be better...) R.D.

Heights. And Clowns. Can't stand either one of them...

What area really needs a theme park?
QueerRudie replied to let1gre's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Easy: Phoenix Metro. We've got one small park with two OD Hopkins coasters to satisfy an area of nearly 4 million people... Despite the attempts to build a park south of here, which came to naut, it would be a good place for a semi-enclosed park, but I pipe dream on that one... R.D. -
PHOTO TR: G-Dog's Past Trip Photos

Good 'retro' Photo TR... I was there at ACE DAY at BGW- and it was quite fun to be around other 'enthusiasts' at the time- those brought back so many good memorys that I now miss! Nice Job R.D. -

New shuttle coaster for Conny Land for 2007
QueerRudie replied to thomas2's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'll take "Demented thrill rides for 100, Please Alex." I've seen some pretty ludicrous rides before... but this one DEFINITELY takes the cake. The 'spike' end looks painful... and THAT is from a distance. Can you imagine a 'slow' starting day... and how much one's bruises are going to hurt at the top of that thing??? R.D. -
I hate to say this, but.... If the ride runs on STEEL rails, it's a STEEL coaster. Would ANYBODY doubt that of Gemini? Or any Arrow Mine Train? if it runs onw WOOD rails, then it's a WOOD coaster. Would ANYBODY doubt the Coney Island Cyclone? Very simply: Texas Giant will re-open as a tall, fast, steep impressive steel coaster.

I got the Loch Ness Monster Double-loop logo (The sign at the entry point) on my left pec- if that's any idea for you. I'm considering getting a Schwarzkopf loop w/train on my left arm. Just my .02 on it-

Hmmm... Post cereals sponsorship: The possiblities boggle the mind... "Bran Flakes: THE RIDE!= it explodes the riders out of the platform, and end in a splashdown vortex. "Honeycomb: THE RIDE!= A sugared up spin and spew that makes kids run around in circles afterwards... "GRAPE NUTS: THE RIDE!= It doens't do anything, is rather bland, and then you get one stuck in your teeth... This sponsorship thing is going WAY too far, I'm afraid...

Knoebels Discussion Thread
QueerRudie replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Building a project as complicated in so many ways like this has to be a real challenge. I give -major- props to Knoebels for even attempting something that was going to cause headaches like this. How many people would ever say that Six Flags would even -try- to build such a machine? Very few, I'm quite sure. As a result, we wait. Patiently. I am reminded of a quote= "To the victors go the spoils of war" when looking at it: A one of a kind bobsled, which hasn't been resurrected in wood in decades. That in itself is free promotion, despite the setbacks. Imagine the kind of news coverage such a thing will provide if marketed right. I often wonder if the fine people at Knoebels will be brave enough to go after a classic steel coaster, such as a few of the ideas that Herr Achterbahn had been working on prior to his untimely passing. A 'reworked' Figure 8 bahn comes to mind, as with Knoebels preserving classic designs for future generations to enjoy we could see some true classics of the steel era come back to life- and hopefully as intense and wonderful as the predecessors were (Anyone remember the Thriller before it was 'neutered'?) Or could we encourage them to go after the MOTHER of all 'classic' woodies: the Crystal Beach Cyclone? I'll admit that it would have to be modernized for safety- but what a thrill it would be to give the CBC a go or three. In short: Knoebels has the balls to try the 'long forgotten' designs of the past. They are paying a -very small- price for keeping our future generations historically informed on what very few of us have been able to ride on. R.D. -
I just had a brainstorm (yes, me.) As much as has been discussed on the new coaster project, I thought for a second: Intamin is a GOOD launch coaster manufacturer, but perhaps we've discounted one that's not really thought of in quantity: MACK. Blue Fire looks like a real winner (I'm looking forward to riding next summer) and they are a reputable deal of good rides- could this be the first entry of a Mack launch coaster in the US? Just a thought...

Those are some nifty pics, and remind me of the installation of Storm Runner back in 2003/2004. One thing I did notice from the pics is there is a similarity (of course, it's all relative) to those of the aformentioned SR- and just about the same pacing between 'markers' as SR; whether this is an indicator of an Intamin or not I'll not guess- as we all know, such similarities are purely coincidental... I'm putting 1-1 it's an Intamin, though-

Does it come with angioplasty free with each purchase?

Caveat: This is what I -think- and not to spread rumours or other such nasties... If this is in fact an Intamin multi-launch, and the layout is correct, it could be that the designer (I'm guessing off the top of my head it's Stengel and Associates again) is trying to emulate the success that I305 has had in its first few weeks. The head of IntaRide USA was very interested in merging the high points of both Millenium and Maverick to produce an interesting and intense ride. That having been said... We know that multilaunch coasters are rare, and Intamin (if you count the 'lift' and 'launch' of Maverick) has done it before- and considering a total lack of 'family' sized rides at BGT (other than Grover, of course) that an extended launch type coaster (non-looping, yet intense) is in the works. It would be appropriate, to say the least, for them to go for a new type of launch coaster in this class, and one that would make a real statement of ride design. If they used the same concepts tried on I305, and married them nicely to those of Maverick, then we're in for a real treat in 2011. If they, however, wuss out too much, it's going to be a good ride, but not a top-ten thriller, which may be the case. As this is the first 'true' new coaster under the new owners, then we might be able to assume this is the path of things to come in the future for the Sea World parks- and if it's a good ride, it's a good sign. I can only hope that it's a winner, and that it's success is passed onto the other parks in the company. As for the 'guessed' layout, I'm actually looking forward to a ride that's got some teeth to it in length.

Having ridden Matterhorn in October with the 'old style' trains, it was a bit odd that they did keep loading the cars with 'weight' in mind- my Partner and I were given a single car to ourselves, and they put two people in the back car. If anything, I found this quite weird, as the ride itself didn't really need to have all that balance put in different places- but it did make for a fun ride at night... hehehehehehe The new cars look -awesome- despite the high back chairs, and the colours look amazing. I'm looking forward to trying them out next October.

How did you end up here???
QueerRudie replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I think it was the promise of Boobies. That MUST be it. IN all reality, I'm not quite sure how I ended up here- but I'll tell you what- it kicks the crap out of any other theme-park site on the web! (And WCB looks -beyond- cool. I'm planning on dragging my BF there!) -
If I had my way with Knotts (HEEL. Its not a bad joke) Knotts has a -lot- going for it, beyond the 'vintage' era rides. I -love- Monte. Period. It's a great ride- not to mention one of the last in it's class in the US of A. A Dive machine: Good idea. Bad placement. Dive machines are a unique thing for some parks, but I think it would be overkill for KBF. A Flying coaster: Ugh. Overdone. Yawn. A hyper-coaster. Also a bit overdone. If I had my way: A new, sitdown looping coaster. I know, I know, how boring and average. But if done right, it would fit well. Something beyond Monte, but below SB. It's a good idea, really, and it would work, even if not as 'over the top' as what CF is putting into some parks. Mind you, I'm a huge fan of big rides, but sometimes, bigger does NOT equal better. Go for what fits, and what people want. R.D.
