  1. Hopefully this will be better than Snowmargeddon... But I'll give it the benefit of the doubt, too!
  2. Bullet at Flamingoland had a history of being ferried around and not operating for very long at places because of the insane wear and tear on the launch mechanism (it had about 60 sets of drive tires), it ended up being partially rebuilt and totally overhauled simply because of the horrendous amount of noise it made, before it arrived at Flamingoland. Actually, that's not entirely true... The Wienerlooping (Schwarzkopf Shuttle loop Mk2a) worked fine- if you kept up with the motors. The biggest issues with the ride was noise- and quiet Wienerlooping most certainly was not. Weinerlooping has (had!) six pairs of drive tyres on each spike, and six sets in the station, making for 18 sets of rotary drive wheels that were used to push/pull the train out of the station. Most of the time these motors only gave some force to the train, as Schwarzkopf used gravity whenever possible on this, and for that matter all His designs. Still, the ride gave good overall performance across the board, and was a good reliable ride. However, the ride itself wasn't modified- save the addition of Mk2C trains with OTSR restraints- during the course of it's operational history. R.D. "TPR's Schwarzkopf Priest"
  3. Sigh: Thriller/Taz Texas Tornado/Zonga: In 2003, Zonga had the first and second inversions' entries raised by almost 10 feet each to reduce the G force loading on the riders. (The ride lost has lost it's mojo...) Rattler, SFFT: This ride has had more reprofiling than just about any other ride- particularlay the first drop which has been raised numerous times due to stress on the trains and rough ride.
  4. NM the above: Memo to me, read the tabs on a speadsheet... Here's what I've got so far- and will add more as time goes by- coaster_trivia_general_RD.xlsx
  5. Robb, do you need pictures with the spreadsheet? I.E. I've got questions- but pictures are a bit limited!
  6. I have. There's no cure for it. Instead you go insane over time and start building parks in computer games...
  7. After editing WAY TOO MANY POSTS TODAY, I'm bumping this again. PLEASE READ THE FIRST PAGE OF THIS. R.D. GFMT
  8. Downloading it now,... lord knows there's enough crap in my ears to fill a book.
  9. That's because the leak didn't come from the Dippin' Dots guy. Had it come from him, they'd know it's TRUE!
  10. With my crappy vision, I only spotted one ducky- Lock me in!
  11. After I'm done with this post, I'll be moving it into the RCT II help thread... 1.) Plan plan and plan. If you throw your rides up willy-nilly and end up with dead ends, you're going to have trapped peeps. 2.) There is no need to build underground paths. If you think your park correctly, and use the Funnel method, you won't ever have to worry about lost peeps- ever. THe funnel method is this: Build out your park however you want, then look at the pathways. If your peeps from the most distant part of your park cannot 'funnel' to the front without a dead end area, you need to redesign it. It's that simple. No tricks are needed, no hidden anything, no special gimmicks. You can build a very realistic park (should you choose to!) with plenty of plazas, alleyways, etc- so long as you don't make dead ends. 3.) Your peeps always (ALWAYS!) will want to find the exit: Let's say your park is doing fine, eventually your peeps will want to leave. Remember to make sure they can find the exit anyplace in the park. If you have this: XX XX XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX E XX X XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX I XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX T XX XX XX XX XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX XXXXXXXXXXXX XXXXXXXX XXXXXXXXXXXX XXXXXXXX XXXXXXXXXXXX XXXXXXXX You'll be fine: The spur lines off your main pathways all lead to the front- and you're not burying your guests in tubes underground. Peeps may not be smart- but they are logical- if you think like they do, you will never again have an issue with lost peeps. Remember: Funnel them towards your exits, and you will never need to do a trick to keep them from being lost. R.D. GFMT
  12. Clifford the Big Red Crane is on-site till the end of the month. Once the crown goes up, the track will be easily assembled from there, requiring very little time (Provided the weather holds out...) R.D.
  13. Use the Preview thread- that's what it's there for. R.D. GFMT
  14. Of course I have love for Intamin... particularly one in Central Pennsylvania... I didn't want to 'repeat' myself with another Schwarzkopf or use Arrow again! So I left my 'comfort zone' of fine German engineering- and promptly forgot about Intamin... go figure. The next question becomes: What type of B&M? Do we really want a bevy of Leviathong duplicates in this contest, or should we open it up to be 'all track types'?
  15. What it looks like, at least to me is a confused GCI/CCI hybrid- which isn't bad, but I don't think that's entirely where you were going with the project. I'd refine some of the hills, as GCI coasters tend to eschew airtime. Otherwise, it's a great looking design- and looks very 'fluid' R.D.
  16. That's up to you- Perhaps since I'm not good at NL, you can be the 'guest judge' of these tracks as the TPR NL challenge comes about... Since NL tracks tend to take a lot longer for people to build, I was thinking a three week contest, including build and showtime; but not sure how you'd want to place your topic into it. I'd already planned for a NL challenge for February, so your timing was perfect on that. This time through, however, I'm tightening up the rules from the previous two NL challenges: 1.) Pictures should be submitted and 2.) P.O.V. must be submitted as well: That way we can really open up the whole of TPR to voting in this one- as in: General vote via POV. I'm still waffling on the track to be used, though: We've done a wood, an Arrow Looper and a Schwarzkopf- should we go for a B&M series?
  17. Yuuup- That's the one I was thinking of- It's hard to explain the location of the lift drum relative to the Comet- which SkyRush goes overtop of. Thus why (Unless they're going to thread the thing through Comet- which I doubt!) the cable will have to double-back onto itself to work effectively. Thanks Chris!
  18. Blistering will describe this one- as it's 18.5 MPH from HersheyPark's stats on SkyRush There might be a drum there, but there's also a drum there on I305 - otherwise, how would the cable switch directions and run back to the drums at the base of the lift? So yes, there's going to be a drum at the base of the second column, maybe another for tension, but the cable then has to run back to the start of the lift, where it meets another set of drums before it runs up the lift itself. Due to the platform being superelevated, the winch will be opposite the platform- If I understand from the pics/layouts we've been allowed to see, it'll be similar to I305- but with a very odd return pattern- due to the creek, they can't bury things- so the cable will have to go up and over the structure there. Also, with the layout of Comet, it can't return down to the drum downward- so it will have to double-back to the lift hill assembly. Mind you- that's an educated guess there.
  19. That, my friend, is awesome- if I'm correctly thinking the direction you are going with it in- and if that's the case, that might be a nifty tool to have!
  20. If you look at CCron's photos: the cable is actually on the other side of the creekbed, at the base of the column- Perhaps Chris can pull a picture of the drum's position (please!)
  21. Sounds awesome to me, AJ- I've been thinking about a NL contest- and if you're up to it, that might be a great project to work with. I've got DVDs to hand out if you need prizes. R.D.
  22. Nah- I won't rip you apart; I'm not that evil (Despite what people might say!) Overall, it's not a bad layout- but needs some refining. The overall look of it reminds me of a Silver Arrow (Silberpfeil) mixed with a compact portable mkIIa (Dreier Looping etc.) However, you're going to want to enlarge the loop quite a bit- even as much as I love PozGs, that'd be -TOGO- painful. Also, I'd 'loosen' the rising helix a bit- and have it flow into the block- same with the return segment. Also, I'd put additional trackway out of the second inversion, and into the block brakes. A good idea of the 'best of the best' for Compact Looping designs is Mindbender at WEM- It's refined, smooth and fast, without having oddities in layout as well- even with it's compact position.
  23. I don't know, Matt- but we've had a surge in traffic, which is fine; it's the quality of the traffic that's been a concern as of late. Even with the 'bumping' of the 'please read this first' threads, we're getting a flood of issues. As for another site going down: I think NE is purging people as of late. I got a weird e-mail from Dotrobot a few days back that was almost pleading to come back to TPR- which means he's fallen out of favor over there again.
  24. That's good to see- I don't think he understands that I try to be as fair as possible; and as of late we're seeing a rather hefty pile of bad posts. It is an unending battle sometimes with it, but if it's corrected early, I think we'll have some good posters. It's the ones who are flooding things out that it becomes a problem. And thanks again, Robb!
  25. I was in chat yesterday and Cole (Mole) was given FOUR warning to 1.) stop spanming the chat room with incessant pictures; 2.) Use proper language, 3.) Stop speaking in text messages, and to stop yelling at other people... I gave him a 24 hour ban- and that's what the time was listed at when it started. R.D. Addendum: Re his 'overposting' for posting sake- This is what I sent to him after reviewing his posts over the past week or so: Hello: I've been reading your responses to a lot of the posts recently, and the quality leaves something to be desired. Awesome park. I am really liking it so far. Awesome. Just awesome. Awesome Coup. Awesome. Nice updates, I am really looking forward to the new park. Nice job with the park. Cannot wait for more. Awesome progress. This is a project I am going to be following. Good job Sam, keep up the good work. Nice job! Cannot wait for the next update. This is an amazing park. Cannot wait for the next update! Oooo, I cant wait to see what this park has to dish up. I really love this format. Keep up the good work. This park looks very nice. Good job. Awesome park Sam! AWESOME PARK!!!! Can't wait for the revival. I cannot wait to see where this goes. This is a list I found reading through your posts over the past 7 days. And this is the EDITED list. Basically: If I see -one- more post that has a response like these, I'm going to give you a 7 day suspension here at TPR. These posts are repetitive, they have no real value to the thread, and are better reserved for sending to somebody in a Private Message from your TPR account- not for posting to the boards. Please read and review the TPR posting rules. You can find them HERE. This is your last chance. I don't want to see excessive posting again. R.D. Games Forum Management team.
