  1. Thanks! I came across it on accident actually and I asked my mom (she took them back in the late 70s) if I could scan them and clean them up. Yeah, it would of been neat had they saved the Whizzer and not taken it out, along with so much more that has disappeared from the park over time. While we lost one of His great works with the removal of Whizzer- it still lives on- as an 'organ donor' of sorts for several other Speedracers throughout the world. The same can be said (to a lesser extent) for Tidal Wave/Greezed Lighting from CGA as well: It gave its life for the other Tidal wave at SFKK (SBNO). For me, a rather um, well, devout Schwarzkopf Believer, it is always sad to see the loss of such great rides- they provided a good, solid intermediate thrill for everyone. However, in the end these rides live/lived on for far longer than I think anybody could ever expect. If we'd had the same preservation efforts 'then' as we do now, I think we could have seen Whizzer live on- which is why these -very- rare coaster credits need our attention: What we consider 'average' today could become extinct without a moments notice: Imagine CGA without TopDeck Aftergun, or Vortex. (While these aren't 'endangered' species yet, it's sort of like how the skyline at CGA was the year after Whizzer was removed: It wouldn't feel right.). Fortunately, people did stand up when there as a thread to remove Whizzer's twin at SFGAm, and we still have that model still around: The last of the SpeedRacers in the United States. Great picture, too: Whizzer will always to me be a gem that never got the attention it deserved.
  2. I think that might be my favorite of the 'classic' look logos out there- Classy, understated, and fits with the Herschend Family look. Overall, it's good to see some love being paid to the park in this way, as the old logo looked like it was a monster spewing out track. Not to mention, the logo was 'borrowed' by HersheyPark for Skyrush... in a way.
  3. You rang? And yes, I agree completely with 'powered' launches being Intamin... They re-wrote the book on how to do LSM right. However, as many will now groan about: Nothing, and I mean NOTHING beats a good ol' fashioned Flywheel or Weight drop Schwarzkopf Shuttle loop launch. Graceful, smooth, a nice strong force; they are to me the vintage Rolls Royce of launch coasters: Sure, others are faster, and just as smooth, but nothing beats the feel of the "click... thump BWOOOOOSSSSSSSSHHHHH" of a fine Schwarzkopf Shuttle coaster... (Five weeks, Monte, just five weeks...) R.D. Praise be to Anton.
  4. Awesome. Looking forward to seeing it.... hopefully on it's maiden voyage!
  5. Gee, CJ. Did you forget about the guy coming in from PHOENIX for this event? Sigh. There went your Monte's priveleges...
  6. Welcome to TPR. Please don't double-post. If you wish to add photos to your thread EDIT YOUR POST. THere is a button on your post marked EDIT. You'll save a lot of time, frustration and errors by doing that... Not to mention, keeping your Moderators here happy and content. R.D. GFMT (BTW: Interesting idea for the Eurofighter like that...)
  7. My issue with it is this: Too many of the same picture. And that's a huge thing to me. If you're going to do an addition to your thread, be sure to make sure there's some diversity in photos- not six of the same thing. R.D. GFMT
  8. Looks good, Jer- but I'd eliminate the straight section in the first drop- let it be more fluid overall. And why the name "Show Your Teeth?"
  9. The lift angle as reported by Hersheypark is 50degrees. (Yes, that's steeper than most coasters in the USA have for a first drop!)
  10. Up into the late 80s/early 90s, Arrow made trains for Vekoma coasters. Many operators (Canada's Wonderland, for example) took a spare Arrow train and used it on their Vekoma coaster (The Bat at CW, for example, has the third train from Dragon Fyre). Nowadays, Vekoma will still build Arrow-gauge trains- as is KumbaK ltd. With Gerstlauer moving into the 'new train' business, it's not ruled out that we could see Gerstlauer trains as well.
  11. Bitter, Party of one. Your table is now available.... HP's coasters have been for the most part quite reliable overall: Storm Runner had it's teething issues, as did Fahrenheit, but then again there isn't a coaster in the USA that hasn't had teething issues. SkyRush at least has two models ahead of it to get the bugs worked out on, and that's a key benefit here. The key issues other coasters have had in the past will have been solved before the ride is even finished, and that's to the benefit of the ride. SkyRush, like any other coaster will have it's issues- just like every other coaster on earth has.
  12. BANNED!!!!!! Seriously...come on Soupy!!!!! LOL, I deserve it.... Haha. At least I know I made a mistake though! Agreed... but if the rest of that land comes open, then it could be a whole different game- and possibly one that's a game-changer for the park. I'll be exploring Gardenwalk in February, so I'm curious to see just what potential it carries for the Disney organization itself- and if it makes sense to keep it in the long run Now if they put a BREWPUB IN, then I'd be all for it... something with dark ales and lagers!
  13. From Schwarzkopf.Coaster.net (The -greatest- website on earth for His rides, attractions and general worship can proceed from)... Andalusian Railroad Pics The ride DID have a themed exterior, which would explain the beefier supports for the ride itself. Also, He may have built the ride considering the seismic implications of the location of the ride (Japan), which would also be some of the hefty bulk of the ride itself. Praise be to Anton.
  14. OK: Criticism time, which I don't hand out often... Your updates are, from my point of view: 10 shots of the same thing, with -very little- changing, if anything at all. In the last update, we saw the building in a way that my relatives would be proud of... "Here is us waving at the Epcot Sphere" "Here is us waving at the CAMERA with the Epcot Sphere." "Here is us waving NEXT to the Epcot Sphere" "Here is us waving with our LEFT HAND at the Epcot Sphere" "Here is us waving with our RIGHT HAND at the Epcot Sphere" Guess what? FOUR of those aren't necessary. At all. For no reason. In your future updates, try to get more diversity than the same building six times over. Yes, it's a building, yes it's pretty, but only one shot. We don't need to see the building done, then have the building opening, then have the building full of people. It's repetitive with a single item shot. Try this instead: Update when you have many different and new things to add to your park: Not just A flat for an update, but rather, "Here's the new theme area: We have four flats, a coaster, and two buildings." THEN show each flat/pair of flats, a few shots of the coaster, and one of the building. Also, add some windows to your emporium- It is DARK in there. Let the light in, Man!
  15. Yeah, yeah, yeah... I'm old. Pbbbbbtttt... Not Jeff Johnson Old, but old. OK: I never knew that this was available- as when I've played with the resolution on other sites (FB, for example) I end up getting really crappy image issues- but this works well for me. It does make things larger for those of us using canes and braille... (JOKE, everyone, JOKE). As for the print being larger as I'd pointed out: The white print was the one causing the worst issues for me visually;being able to adjust things via Robb's suggestion does work for that. The other prints not so much- but I think (From a 'marketing' point of view) they should be as I noted- it would be more attention grabbing.
  16. Understood, Robb- this is your site, and a great one at that. Here's where I find some visual issues (Mind you, this is coming from a -very- nearsighted man who's in hefty glasses already...) Arrows, from top to bottom: First Arrow: Looks fine, just right in size, and clear. Second Arrow: Print could be bigger, perhaps in bold for 'pop' visually Third Arrow: Print SHOULD be larger- perhaps 25% larger overall Fourth Arrow: Print should be larger- and perhaps 'bolder' overall. And again, these are suggestions based upon my crappy eyes, but I think in the long run they will make a lot of sense overall. R.D.
  17. quoted cause it makes me feel more normal For those of us who belive in His great works, in Heaven, we will ride next to Him on Schwarzkopf-designed and built rides. For those who DO NOT BELIEVE in the saving grace of Anton, they will be forced to ride TOGO and VEKOMA on the other side. Praise be to Anton.
  18. I'm lousy at art too... thus why you won't see my 'designs' out there... However: Since this is for TPR's front page- could we, the people of TPR, make suggestions as to how it might be improved? I.E. LARGER PRINT! R.D.
  19. About the above: I really don't think this post is 'germain' to CD5's current projects- at all. It's an interesting post, though- but somehow I don't think it was intentionally for that thread. R.D.
  20. If that is the land owned, etc. for Disney there, I'd think the Mall's days would be numbered- that's too good a plot of ground for something larger in scale (Hotels, etc.) for the third gate at DLR. If one takes into consideration all the land around it, the 'future parks' area is pretty large- and I'd think with the Downtown Disney district already there it would be silly to have a second 'district' without cannibalizing traffic to the other. However, my mind is -drooling- over the potential use of all that land/space there- as it could mean the expansion of the Monorail further...
  21. Outstanding- all around. That is the kind of marketing campaign that will sell tickets to your park- and fill the trains with happy (if not terrified) riders all around. Brilliant.
  22. OK: If I might suggest the names: Lightning and Thunder (Lightning Racer) Fire and Ice (No-longer Dueling Dragons) (Joke... but I do like the first set myself...)
  23. Why do I think Disney has their people in there now measuring for space... and ready to go. Even if they didn't keep the mall, turning into more park space would also be idea, granted, that's a stretch for that particular space. However, it's not unrealistic we could see changes to remove/reconstruct the site to fit Disney's needs in the future. Either way, I suspect Disney is at the bank right now with a large suitcase of cash... and ready to purchase yesterday.
  24. Yuuuup. It did work for gaining additional uploads- and by quite a distant margin over past efforts; MUCH more traffic overall than the last 'points giveaway' I'm thinking the Easter/Passover/Festival of Oestra Bunny might be looking at doing that again in the spring to go in with another TPR Track Challenge (The "Bunny Hop" Challenge)
