You never know, the whole "distressed" look on the fins might just be part of the ride themeing. -

I hope you're joking. Me to..!! If CP can barely fit new coasters....they dont have room for old ones. ..... and are they even aloud to build something that goes over the lake?... I mean...do they own so much of the water space?. They don't own any of the lake, but they could still build into it. It'd just take a TON of legal work and permits and dealing with environmentalists and all that crap to make it happen. I don't think they really have a space problem, BUT, with that said, I just don't see X-Flight heading there. Cedar Point has this precedent for building groundbreaking/unique coasters, plus they're getting one in '07 anyway. A second-hand Vekoma flyer from a park just over an hour away would just go against everything anybody would expect them to do. Michigan's Adventure or PKI seem like the only 2 possibilities, I think it would be a better installation for MIA (the most overlooked park in the CF chain) but it seems like PKI might be where it ends up. -

I actually heard a rumor earlier in the year that Head Spin (the boomerang) was possibly going to be relocated within the park. With Hyde and the monorail gone, plus all the space where the old waterpark was, if they move Head Spin to where X-Flight was, that opens up a lot of room...hmm. I doubt it would happen (didn't really seem too credible of a rumor), but it would kinda make sense. That whole area needs a facelift. -

2007 Plans for Parks to Visit
Astat replied to carolinacaniac's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Now that I think about it, since I know I'm going to CP and GL at least once next year, and probably Dorney, I think I'll buy a Maxx Pass and hit up Michigan's Adventure and maybe Kings Dominion too. -
They should install a clone of that coaster at Fakeland.

2007 Plans for Parks to Visit
Astat replied to carolinacaniac's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I plan on going on a credit run next summer that will include: Cedar Point (Maverick) Geauga Lake (missing 3 credits there) Kennywood Dorney Park Hershey Park SFKK and possibly a few other smaller parks, plus maybe another trip to Kings Island, even though I have all those credits. Regardless, it's the first year I'm gonna be able to go on my own trips, so I wanna get some out-of-state credits without having to travel too far. I might even plan my trip so it meets up with the TPR Midwest trip at a couple parks, I dunno yet. -
2nd time not such a charm?

The Beast. Spent 2 days at the park last summer, rode it around dusk on the first day. Fun ride with a great sensation of speed throughout, and pretty smooth. Next day, and keep in mind this was AFTER riding SOB, rode it again but in the middle of the afternoon, and OMG. I came off that thing feeling like my spleen had ruptured and all my ribs were cracked, that's how rough it was. I thought SOB was pretty rough, but it was about on par with some of my rides on Mean Streak, Villain, and Raging Wolf Bobs as far as roughness. It's daddy was as rough as some of the stories I've heard about SOB. I'd actually re-ride SOB if I ever make it back to the park, but Beast gets a big no. -
Can I be the first to place a bet on the kid's first word being "Balder"? Naw, congratulations, really. A newborn baby is the most beautiful thing in the world...that isn't built by Intamin.

I think the loop structure might have been a Pinfari thing, I think this coaster was an Intamin built ride with input from Pinfari on the design, if I remember correctly. -
Who needs a coaster for 2007
Astat replied to Milkchan's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Oh, it was quite enough at the time. X-Flight the year after that was like icing on the cake. But the only major addition since then has been the waterpark, and in that same span, they've lost a bunch of flats. And of the 4 coasters that were added in 2000, Villain is awful because of the trains, Dominator's developed a pretty bad vibration that's really un-B&M-like, and Steel Venom always breaks down and was closed most of the last season. So I just think it's time for something new. I would agree on SFDL though, S:ROS gets all these rave reviews, but that's about the only top-notch coaster at the park. -

Geauga Lake...they're not getting a new coaster for '07 but if they don't get one (or at least a new major ride of some sort) in '08 I'm convinced Cedar Fair has already given up on the park. The place is always dead on the rides side, they have 2 good woodies (Wolf Bobs and Big Dipper), a B&M floorless, and an Intamin impulse, and yet all the attention goes to the new waterpark. I think the waterpark was a good addition but the place really REALLY needs to revamp the rides side...they've lost Mr. Hyde, possibly the monorail, the paddlewheel boats, and a ton of their midsized flats in the last few years...if they could build a hyper or something back in the area behind Wolf Bobs and the raft ride, and hype it up really well, it'd bring more people to the park, and because of its location, it'd balance out the number of people on the waterpark and ride sides. -
Check when it was posted, they were talking about May of '06...I really doubt Thrill Shot's coming back at this point.

This is actually a serious issue to me...I'm sorry, but if a park doesn't serve burgers, fries, and pop, I'm not gonna go there. That's about all I eat at parks. There's the occasional order of onion rings, and I usually pick up a box of fudge or taffy (or whatever kind of awesome sweet stuff they have), but that's about it. I don't care how much of an experience I'm missing by not going to Disney parks, if they don't serve any food I like, I'm not gonna pay them money for me to walk around hungry all day.

Well, according to RCDB, Movie Park Germany is building a new family coaster for next year...wonder if it's going to take place of Cop Car Chase. -

Didn't research this at all, but off the top of my head, I think this might be the first Intamin looper that's been scrapped. Really a shame, it looked like a lot of fun and it was only 10 years old. -

This thing looks really nice. That drop looks yummy and the layout overall is just really cool. And Millenium Flyer trains = What's with Cedar Fair having 2 western-themed coasters at different parks the same year though? And they're 104 and 105 feet tall, respectively.
