  1. Well... Darn. From what I'd seen, the music kind of added a whole new dimension (teehee) of insanity to the ride. Then again, sometimes even Disney has audio problems (ex. my most recent ride on California Screamin'), and we all knew to some extent that this was bound to happen. :/
  2. Seeing as they had the same thing at SFDK on my last visit, I highly doubt the latter is correct. That may end up a bit of a coincidence if Iron Colossus is ever green-lit, but unless SFDK is getting sort of RMC (which I can almost guarantee will not happen for years if ever), I would unfortunately have to mark that one as wishful thinking. But hey, you never know.
  3. Not sure if anything like this has been posted before, but I think this would be a must-ride coaster. Four words: GCI. Crystal. Beach. Cyclone. Clicky Of course, some adjustments to decrease pain would be necessary, but if a park opened its own version of (arguably) one of the most legendary rides of all time, they could potentially have a Top 10 wooden coaster on their hands. EDIT: Well, there was an ancient thread that mentioned the idea (http://themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=551), but I think it could stand to be mentioned again.
  4. Matterhorn Bobsleds...I guess you could say that over the years, the ride has... *puts on sunglasses* ..Gone downhill.
  5. I don't mind boring rides very much, so that leaves Kong at SFDK as my worst coaster until further notice. Runners-up: -Viper at SFMM (could have been awesome if not for the painfulness) -Roar at SFDK (same)
  6. That might be more common than you (or I, for that matter) would think. For instance, I ran into the same situation at BGW and had a blast.
  7. Kong at SFDK. -_- At least my friends could all agree that it was painful...
  8. Quicksilver Express at Gilroy Gardens looks very innocent but has some seriously epic moments. Maybe that's because I wasn't expecting much, but it was actually quite fun. The best part is that the park often seems to be dead in terms of crowds, meaning you can easily marathon it.
  9. For some odd reason, I now want to find a bunch of ghetto parks and get sketchy credits. Especially the Looping Toboggan of Death. By the way, Fire Brigade and some of those other ridiculous rides at Happy Valley Shanghai look really awesome.
  10. Had a pretty nice day at the park today. I rode SkyScreamer as well as the major steel coasters. Highs: -Shorter lines this time. -Boomerang is still actually decent (maybe it's one of the better Boomerangs?) -Roar has been reopened. We passed on it this time around. Lows: -Kong was significantly worse than I remembered. Thankfully it was a walk-on, but the 270-degree turn was one of the roughest elements I've ever experienced. We're talking full-on body slamming and audible bursts of "Ow! awwww...AW! Ow!" here. -Some girl stole my brother's food after he'd waited for ten minutes and immediately after she'd ordered. EDIT: Didn't take pictures, but Tsunami Soaker has progressed somewhat, and ride vehicles were visible near the park's entrance (in case they weren't already).
  11. I'm not very experienced in this department, but both Six Flags parks I've visited seem to take the cake here. SFDK: This might be because my last visit was on a Music in the Parks day (read: lots and lots of teenagers), but I have a feeling that if almost every ride has a 45-minute wait, there are some operation issues. Kong was the worst culprit here; I had to get all of my friends out of line because a Vekoma SLC isn't worth waiting several hours (we had waited for 20-30 minutes and only advanced 2 or 3 switchbacks thanks to slow one-train ops). SFMM: Dear Tatsu ops, Yes, Tatsu is my favorite coaster, but I'm afraid I can't ride it again if a 75-minute line is involved when you have a second station available and when trains are double-stacking on the brake run. Sincerely, Me
  12. From this entry, it looks like they stored the SLC at Great Escape (but did not assemble it) before moving it to La Ronde. There could be several reasons for this, but I'm hardly an expert in that area.
  13. If you asked your friend if you could have his Tokyo Disneyland pressed pennies
  14. Places with New Credits: -CGA (Gold Striker) -SCBB (Undertow) -KBF (all major coasters) -SFMM (X2, GL, BTR, SEFK, YOLO, Riddler, Apocalypse) Other: -SFDK -2 trips to DLR
  15. The first park on my itinerary for the next month or so is SFDK, but I will be visiting practically every major California theme park this year (unless Legoland, SeaWorld, Gilroy Gardens, etc. are your idea of major parks). In the years to come, there is speculation about potential visits to WDW, Cedar Point, SFGAdv, and some others.
  16. Over $10 for a YOLOcoaster hot dog at SFMM.
  17. It's the new "ker-CHUNK". Haven't you heard?
  18. I got a ton of new songs in the last month... -Armin van Buuren - Intense -Avicii - Wake Me Up -Avicii - Dear Boy -The Chemical Brothers - Block Rockin' Beats (Cazzette Live Bootleg) (free download from Cazzette's SoundCloud!) -Madeon - Cut the Kid (free download from his SoundCloud!) -Mat Zo - Superman -Mat Zo and Porter Robinson - Easy -Moguai - Champs -Zedd - Spectrum (A-Trak and Clockwork Remix) -Zedd - Spectrum (Deniz Koyu Remix) ..Bet you can't guess what my favorite genre is
  19. I never thought I'd say this, but I really want to visit Mexico now. I'd heard it was 100% drug cartels and poverty. Glad to see that's far from the truth!
  20. Wait...so you're telling me there are inverts better than Alpengeist?
  21. I would love to know where to find all the single rider lines for these coasters. I don't ever remember seeing any in the park. This was from Wikipedia, so there's a chance that information is dated.
  22. SFDK, DLR (twice!), SCBB, CGA, SFMM, and KBF will be on my list in the months to come. In other words, every major park in California except SWSD.
  23. ^^^Hmm. You can still see the original profiling on the flat section next to the parking lot. Reminds me of SFNE's Cyclone in that respect. EDIT: Looks like I wasn't the only one to notice...
