  1. I (somewhere) have a couple peices from X. I believe I have stored away at my parents house a bolt (which is around 40 lbs), land marked from the coaster. I would have loved though to have a few parts from Flashback.
  2. If at all possible the park will open, as for individual rides, those are more questionable.
  3. ^Picture quality is the same between DVD and Blu-Ray? The only way I could see that being true is if you're using a standard def TV. I'm not rich and can't afford a 1080p TV, but I still see a huge differene on my 720p set.
  4. Most of the movies I've bought for it have been closer to $20, however it'll be very nice when prices are down in the same range of DVD.
  5. What I'm really wondering is how long before HDTV is the standard? It will happen, it already is, but I think it still has a ways to go.
  6. So I guess I'll merge my question into this thread, what is Dallas like in comparison with Lubbock? I'm hoping that in 2 1/2 years I'll get out of Lubbock and head east to Dallas for my first job, and am really really hoping that Dallas has a bit more to offer then I've got out here.
  7. I was there over New Years, and got the chance to go into Palazzo roughly 3 hours after it opened. It is an amazing looking hotel on the inside, though due to the large amounts of working going on inside, one really got the feeling that the rushed the opening.
  8. It's another great year for the Kings, as we compete for a #1 draft pick.
  9. It takes a huge amount of rain before SFMM will close for the day. The reason being, as I understand it, is that once the park is open it costs much more to close it then just to let it operate for the rest of the day. I remember working shows there is very heavy rain, and always being surprised just how much rain they would leave the park open in.
  10. I'm thrilled to see that Blu-Ray is going to win. When I got the player I was a bit worried that I was going to be getting my generations version of Beta-Max.
  11. Actually as I understand it, the Bat wasn't that good of a ride. I've always heard it was slow and rather boring. I could be wrong, seeing as how it was removed 2 years before I was born, however people whom I've spoken to who have been on it, say that it was nothing special.
  12. ^ That's what I've expected to see happen for years.
  13. ^I have to agree, parks don't want rides that don't shatter records it seems. As I've said before, Ninja is my favorite ride at SFMM (I've yet to ride Tatsu), and I have always wished more suspended coasters would be built. Who would really want to even try a loop on a suspended, I see that as being a nightmare.
  14. I wish I knew where they were but I've got several recorded television ads from over the years of SFMM. I know off the top of my head I've got Ninja, Tidal Wave, Freefall, Shockwave, and Flashback. If you're wondering, I got a lot of these sent to me from people over the years, as I was a wee tyke (or not yet born) when a few of those rides opened.
  15. Not sure why I'm thinking about this, but does anybody remember when SFMM used to have Vinny the Viper? It's the small things such as that, that I have really come to miss in that park.
  16. Thought I would bring this thread back from the dead. I was at Bestbuy the other day and was shocked to see the price of Blu-Ray players has fallen from around $400 down to $299 on some models. It took me a few hours of telling myself that I didn't really need a blu-ray player before I caved in and rushed back and picked up a Sony BDP-300. So far I've been pretty pleased with it, the quality really is stunning on a few of the movies I've tried out.
  17. Sounds like it is getting the Windjammer treatment.
  18. Over the last several months in my free time I've been reading my way through the Jason Bourne series. If you ever want to read a book that has absolutely nothing to do with the movie based on it, get the Bourne Supremacy. The book and the movie could not possibly be any more different.
  19. Mostly going with gift certificates this year for friends and family... I've got a special gift for my girlfriend, but she doesn't get it unless she answers yes to a very specific question.
  20. Did anybody here (looking in Robb's direction) ride Flashback when it was Z-Force at Six Flags Great America? If so, how did it ride then, was it smooth at opening?
  21. I was seven or eight when I first saw Flashback and I remember thinking that ride looked really cool. Personally I always enjoyed the ride, it was rough and had its problems but it does get some points for being different.
  22. ^I can remember going to the park as a kid and Flashback have extremely long lines actually. However the lines did subside after only a few years of operation. In regards to the other Space Diver out there, as far as I've always understood it, it was never installed. Intamin built two, Six Flags bought one, and the other one remained unsold. My personal guess is it was sold for scrap long ago, however there was a second model of the ride that apparently did exist.
  23. ^Exactly, Giovanola was a major producer of track during the 1990's. They didn't exactly do much in the way of their own design work, but ultimately did produce a few of their own coasters. I believe that B&M now does all their track in house now. I feel bad seeing Flashback go, it was a cool idea that just never was able to work. The ride was originally intended to be a ultra-portable, yet still thrilling, fair ride. However as we know that never did end up happening, instead it just bounced around the Six Flags parks during the ride exchange program. My guess is that it'll be scrapped, I doubt another park would but it, then again however I remember a park in Russia (I believe) was interested in Windjammer, so anything can happen. Does anybody know the status (and by status I mean anything) of the other Space Diver model that is apparently sitting in a warehouse? I've had it pretty well confirmed that this ride does exist, but have never found more information then that.
  24. I finish up finals for the semester tomorrow. However I go out with the biggest of them all, a 10 hour Civil Procedure exam. Last week I had to deal with Torts (which was a monster in its own right) and Contracts. So needless to say, after two weeks on finals, I'm more then ready to be done. I hope my grades are decent this semester, we're graded on a forced curve, and out of 64 of us per class only 2-3 will get an A, most people get either a B or a C. However I'm simply so tired of the law, that I don't much care at this point what I get, I just want to be done.
  25. It has helped me procrastinate.
