  1. ^I didn't live in Lubbock at the time (I grew in a suburb north of LA), and by the time I got here I was in a long term relationship so I can't comment on that.
  2. There was a group of girls at my High School that got with some nerdy guys just so they would buy them prom tickets. As soon as they did they would promptly break up and keep the ticket. So it could be worse. As for me, my prom date was kind of a monster.. Which brings me to the best part about prom... It's already 5 years in my past and I never had to worry about it again.
  3. If the world ends I don't have to pay back my student loans! Take that government!
  4. That is correct, both rides were/are Schwarzkopf.
  5. Those appear to be JBL JRX115 speakers (can't tell the model of subwoofer, but also JBL) and if that is the case I can tell you those are some very powerful speakers. Knowing what the park uses in most of their venues my guess is those things are being fed by 4 Crown (XS series, not sure on the numbers anymore) amps rated at 2500 watts each. They might have a 5th (or 6th even) thrown in there to keep stresses a little lower on the other amps. I could drone on for a while about the nerdy tech stuff concerning the sound setup, however to sum it up, I can promise you that setup will be able to put out a HUGE amount of sound if they so choose.
  6. ^^I do agree on the fact that he does seem cocky, however as you put it, I promise you if I was the CEO of Six Flags I would come off Cocky as well. Shapiro is obviously very successful at business, it should not therefore come as any surprise that he has almost a feeling of overconfidence/cockiness/rudeness when he speaks. Again if any of us were the CEO of Six Flags, we'd be pretty confident in ourselves as well. I wonder how long it will take somebody to make a "cockiness" joke... Ah I just can't resist: So last night I walked into a strip club and a feeling of cockiness came over me... Alright I'm done.
  7. Eric you beat me to the Playboy club trivia. And yes the tower was originally going to be placed in Chicago. As far as I understand Playboy backed out at the very last minute on the deal, apparently Hefner thought the tower just wouldn't fit the "classy" Playboy look. However I can tell you that the originally plans (these are off pure memory, and might be backwards) had called for the bottom level of the tower to be a restaurant/bar, and the top level to be the dance floor. -- Allen (has lost his ability to spell!)
  8. As a future attorney I must say that that man may be one of the worst clients I could imagine. He doesn't really seem to mind what's going on, he seems perfectly content that he had come over to have sex with a 14 year old. P.S. I've watched that show many times, and I do actually remember him being on there. Of all the sexual predators that show has caught, I always though he ranked near the top in terms of pure creepiness.
  9. ^ I've gone to Knott's a few times in the past for just dinner, skipping the park all together. It is very good Chicken.
  10. Breath -- Breaking Benjamin
  11. This is a good point. If yo put an El Toro clone back where Psyclone was, people will not realize there is a difference, they'll just remember Psyclone and assume they've been on it before. People hated Psyclone as well. I remember running my website and often people would just mention to me what rides in the park they liked. I almost never found a person who told me about how much they enjoyed Psyclone, in fact I got the more complaints about that ride then any other one in the park. Oddly enough there seemed to be almost a cult following towards Flashback. I got emails from people telling me they hated it, but there were also some who enjoyed it. I know that, personally, if the ride was open and I was there I would always go on it, however I almost never took a ride on Psyclone. I think if SFMM is going to add another woodie, they've got to wait a while and let people adjust to Psyclone being gone. Then eventually build a new wooden coaster.
  12. Just look at it from that angle, the A3 is a very good upconverting unit. I needed a new DVD player back around November and was really tempted to pick up the A3 just to act as an upconverting unit. Sales worked out however so I ended up getting the Blu-Ray player instead. Now the question is how long until Blu-Ray begins to compete against DVD.
  13. ^I wouldn't expect the park to ever have a free shuttle to and from the airport. Just not enough people fly to CA with the intention of going stright to SFMM.
  14. This is a question I would also be interested in hearing a response towards. I'm very curious to see if Six Flags plans to install anymore unique record breaking style coasters as we have seen in years past, or if the movement in the company is basically coming up with a concept and then placing that ride in all their parks.
  15. It's possible to build a career anywhere. Gary Story started with Six Flags sweeping pathways, and ended up CEO of the company. So yeah if you stick it out and do good, you can make a good career out of it.
  16. ^There are no plans to remove it, and I personally see it unlikely that the ride is going anywhere anytime soon.
  17. Was it all day that they were not loading, or only for a while. After somebody throws up they tend to let the train cycle a few times before putting people back in it.
  18. I'll pick up a copy of this album, Disturbed has put out some very good stuff in the past. I just missed seeing them live a few years ago, hopefully will get around to it eventually.
  19. It appears the girl wearing the white was the most aggressive, she looks significantly messier then everybody else.
  20. Actually it is unclear how old the ride really is, as far as I know there has never been any solid conformation on its age. However regardless if the ride is the one from Beverly Park (I assume that is what you are talking about), it has been at SFMM since the park opened.
  21. Seems that the format war will be officially coming to an end sometime tomorrow. Several websites and news services (yeah I didn't post a source, go to google, type in Toshiba) are saying that tomorrow afternoon Toshiba is officially announce the end of the format war and drop their HD-DVD format. I'm glad about this because I've been a supporter of Blu-Ray for a while, I'm just hoping that media prices begin to drop in the next few months.
  22. I have got to say that I do agree with this. My fiance and I are planning a trip in August to SFMM, and I'm decently sure that the way I'm going to go about the trip is to get myself a season pass, and get her in with the coupon book. I'm nowhere near another Six Flags park (well 6 hours) so it'll be a one time use but it is less then buying tickets. As for the poster who commented on having nicer restaurants (Olive Garden, Planet Hollywood, and so forth), I just don't think there would much of a return on investment. While it would be nice to have a slightly better place to eat, at most Six Flags park I just don't see it working. People going to a Six Flags park by and large are just fine with fast food style. A lot of families I know eat elsewhere after they leave the park to avoid the markup inside. If I was CEO of Six Flags I think the first thing I would do is simply sit back for a year or two and watch, see what parks are profitable, and which ones hurt. I would sell/close a lot of the parks that were not bringing in money. My company is in debt, and the best way to fix that debt is by eliminating the source of the debt. Make Six Flags a substantially smaller chain and focus on a handful of "destination parks."
  23. I like the look of the new colors very much, I think it fits the ride much better. However while it is nice to see paint and all that, the verdict remains out on the new X until I start seeing some reviews of it. It's the ride, not the paint, that matters. Again though, with that said, paint is always a nice touch.
  24. I hate my legal practice class, law school wouldn't actually be that bad without it.
  25. I was a kid the last time that sign had its lights on, very exciting indeed. And I've got to agree with PURE, had they painted Superman those colors I think it would have looked terrible. If that tower ever did get painted, I think a solid color would be the way to go.
