^They want to get rid of the ride because they don't want it in the park anymore. As I said in my above post, if they're taking it down to avoid liability, it's something called Spoilation of Evidence, which is a very bad thing to do, and I've got to believe that an attorney would inform the park of this fact.

It'll be interesting to see what the court has SFKK do, I really wonder if they'll be allowed to remove the ride because it is the primary piece of evidence. If the park goes ahead with the removal and destroy the evidence you have a situation known as spoilation, which would be very bad for Six Flags. I'm a little surprised that Six Flags was apparently so lax on safety in this case, you'd expect the big chains to really be strict on these things. I'm also a bit surprised they're removing it, while serious injury or death is bad for a ride, it is a stigma that eventually does go away. My guess is that the ride wasn't bringing in enough people prior to the accident that the park thought it would be worth their money to keep the ride running, not to mention trying to smooth over the accident a bit. Just my .02 cents.

Manhatten Express, I hate the ride, but it does give some great hang time.

I went into Frontier last year and it was a dump... This coming from somebody who stayed at Circus Circus (I'm 22 living on student loans, leave me alone). I must say that I was happy to see that one come down.

So I saw your question and got curious so I decided that, with my final exams coming up, I would turn this into my very own hypothetical and try to guess at what the lawsuit is going to look like. Long story short (I ended up writing about 8 pages on this) without many more facts it'll be hard to figure out who is going to have to pay. I'm guess if she sues Six Flags will be involved, and I'd guess that she'd join Intamin, but what about the companies that helped manufacture the defective part. We don't know enough about exactly how it failed, and who made the parts to determine who is paying. However I am pretty confident that at very least that girl is going to have her medical bills compensated. I'm curious to learn more about this case, but my guess is Six Flags will (or has) be quick to settle. This isn't exactly good publicity that you want to linger over your head.

Yeah when you have a career like he did, making it to 69 is doing pretty good for yourself.

Six Flags St. Louis (SFStL) Discussion Thread

^I was just going to mention this, it makes me wonder if the park is going to do anything at all because of it. -
There are 10^24 stars (roughly, I didn't personally go out there.and count). Furthermore Earth alone is several billion years old, thinking in that time frame 2000 years is nothing. I think there is likely life out there, but I doubt humans will ever know about it.

A question about coasters and health
AllenA07 replied to digidude18's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Might have just been the ride to be honest. I've never been able to handle Batman: The Ride. Seriously I went on the coaster once several years ago and got sick from it, I've tried it one additional time and had the same results. Some people just can't deal with certain rides. -
I would like to get to Wonderland at some point as well. I drove by there several months ago, and was perplexed by the supports for the loop one their Texas Tornado ride. One of the more interesting designed loops I've ever seen. http://www.rcdb.com/ig254.htm?picture=5 ^For those of you who are curious.

YouTube to host Holiday World Announcement
AllenA07 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I think this is a smart move, let people see what you're adding for the new year, that way when planning the family vacation, you'll be more likely to include the park that has added a new ride. It's good to see that theme parks a really beginning to accept websites as a good way to advertise. I've noticed just since getting to this site, that some parks that had a rather frosty relationship with the web when I ran my site, have really become accommodating. For the record, Holiday World was always one of my favorite parks to speak with! -
All I'm hoping for is some money, I'm going to Vegas on New Years and any contributions to make it more fun are needed.

Six Flags having a giant sale
AllenA07 replied to RaptorBoyASU's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^My hunch is telling me it is going to end up overseas. No evidence whatsoever to go on there, just my hunch. Either that or some small park has purchased it in order to say that they have a big coaster. -
Six Flags Magic Mountain Announces "X2"

I've actually heard the claim before that Goliath is meant to make you black out. The best argument I can give for why that is never going to be true is insurance companies. What insurance company is going to be willing to continue to give insurance to a park that has rides, designed to make riders blackout? If a person has a full blackout on the ride, and ends up with any kind of injury it would be very easy to sue the park for at very least negligence. I could even think that you might be able to say the park was reckless in allowing such a dangerous ride to operate. The point is, no insurance company on Earth is going to cover a ride that causes people even the slightest amount of injury (or black out in this case) there is simply too much risk involved. Now as has been said, Tunnel vision does happen on Goliath, and there is really no danger to that. I've had the same effect before (although only once) on Viper coming out of the two loops. All that basically is (as I understand it) is blood being pulled by gravity away from your head. I bet if you had to endure that kind of stress long enough there would be some adverse effect, but 2-4 seconds worth is going to do absolutely nothing, other than make your vision get a little freaky. -
I had a simple Miller Highlife tonight while working... I have to drink to slowly, as I live in a dry county.

Six Flags Magic Mountain Announces "X2"

I also got a 404 error, however you can link it if you go to the site. That video first surfaced back in the very late 90's (maybe 2000 at the latest), and I recall be shocked when I first saw it. I figured that the concept would never make it beyond the factory floor. -
Again I don't think Viper is going anywhere for a long time, I just think as the park fills up that ride is one of the ones that I could see being removed. For example, I can't really see Revolution or Gold Rusher, or Colossus (even though there are some floating rumors now) or a few other coasters ever getting removed, Viper on the other hand has just never had that kind of staying power in my mind. However Jahan is right, Viper is a very high capacity ride, and does put through a lot of riders, which will, without any doubt, ensure its safety for a considerable amount of time.

Since I've been here in late July, we've had a couple big thunderstorms, and are slated for a major snow storm tomorrow, but weather has actually not been that terrible. With that said however as I understand it, before I got here it had been one of the wettest years on record. I've have not been to Joyland yet, I'm basically waiting for this new ride before I blow my $15 on what looks like a lame park. Once they've got this ride up and running, I'll go credit whoring a bit, and get a few new ones under my belt.
