Six Flags New In-Park Network
AllenA07 replied to Teacups Make Me Sick's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
There were some working ones up on Samuri Summit as late as Fright Fest 2003. I worked right next to one of them and got to listen to "Move your Body" by Junior/Senior (if you don't know the song, I encourage you to look for it on youtube) on a loop for 8 hours a day. There were many times where I dempt of launching an RPG at that TV just to get that song to stop. -
^Addendum to that: Unless you're reasonably sure you can get away with it.

If they keep them working the TV's in the line are actually nice at times. I've found myself watching them before, because frankly there isn't really much else to do. I do actually enjoy the Home Depot Ads that include random facts that have found there way around Six Flags parks. -

A lot of that has been operational for years. However I think the blue-tooth downloads are kind of a cool idea. I wonder how long until the parks start selling the ride names to corporations. In stead of Goliath you'd have Home Depot: The Ride. I guess SFMM has already gone that far, Jet Stream became Arrowhead Splashdown for a couple of years. -
Game: When was the last time you...

Proposing to my girlfriend in January. What was the last time you tripped over your own two feet? -
Over thinking this a bit aren't we! So lets see Robb is pushing 40, (I believe he's in his late 30's but lets round) and the average male life span in the United States is around 75 (again some rounding has been done). That means Robb has about 35 years left... So Robb, any plans for what happens with the site in 2043? Yeah I could have figured out Elissa as well, but I feel as though I've been lame enough for one post.

It looks more like a Bayern Kurve type ride to me then it does a rollercoaster. Therefore I'm going to have to say that this is a flat ride, and not a coaster.

Don't start a website just because you've got nothing better to do, otherwise you'll be wasting a lot of your time. If you must start one, try doing it using a free hosting site. When I first started my (now defunct) site many years back I had it hosted by (the now defunct) Xoom.com. After having the site on there for about a year and a half, I actually started getting some serious traffic to it, and decided that it was worth the money to get real hosting and to buy the domain name. Looking back I started my site because I was bored and had a passing interest in Rollercoasters. It took me a long time (and to be honest, some luck) before parks started to notice me and actually send me information. Same with sources, it took me a long time before I had people at parks whom I could rely on to send me good information, it doesn't just happen over night... I got lucky when SFMM sent out a handful of season pass forms early with all the information about X, Deja Vu, and Goliath Jr. on them. I got one and posted it on the web and suddenly people knew about my site, however if that had not happened, I'm not sure my site would have ever really gotten any notice from parks. Basic point is that having a website can be fun, but it is also a huge amount of work. Also there are no promises that you'll make the next Screamscape, Ultimate Rollercoaster, or Theme Park Review, it all depends on what you can offer that these sites can't, as well as some degree of luck.

I'm engaged, so I'm on my way out of the whole dating scene.

It's 2008! Where are you headed this year?
AllenA07 replied to OldJJman's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The only major park I'm hoping to hit this year is SFMM. I'll hit Joyland out here in Lubbock as well, pick up 2-3 credits depending on what's opened. -

^ I didn't know that he ever wrote a book. As far as leaving the park for food, one other thing to keep in mind is that fast food around the park might be more expensive as well, so you might not be getting that great of a deal. I know for a fact that the worlds most overpriced Wendy's is located across the street from SFMM. -
Speaking of Eagle's Flight that station on Samurai Summit is also still intact. It has been used for various things over the years such as storage, and as a staging area for Roadkill Kitchen show during Fright Fest. To be honest it's hard to tell that it was ever a ride station while inside, however there is one big clue. The rides control panel is still completely in tact. It still has January 16th, 1994 listed as the last time the ride ran on the board. Makes me wonder if all the younger members know the significance of that date in the closing.

I've had a few... My favorite however is a few years ago I went to Taco Bell and made a decent size order in the drive thru. I get my food and quickly check to make sure they got everything, at which point I notice that basically the entire order is wrong. So I go back inside to complain and get it fixed. The manager comes over and when I tell him the problem he responds with "Sir, that's impossible." Confused I ask him why it's impossible, and he informs me that, "It's against out policy at this store to make mistakes, if it's wrong it's your fault, we simply don't things wrong." Now I was in complete shock at this so I asked the guy for his name and wrote it down, then I informed him I could be placing a call to Taco Bell's corporate office. I finished the conversation by asking him if he enjoyed his job, because if I had my way he might want to consider a new one... Sure enough he caved in with that and I got a new order.

I recall that for a long time towards the late 90's and early part of this decade the park had wanted to build a large shopping area. At the time, as it was before downtown disney, they had been saying it was going to rival Citywalk. It included a major expansion for the park. The plans were serious enough that I have seen a handful to drawings of what the area was going to have looked like. However as we all know those ended up being plans that simply never got off the drawing board.
