  1. Yes both of them have been repainted, completely new parts. However, one of the trains must be out for rehab because it wasn't in the transfer area last week. One of them was repainted in the middle of last year and the other was just added just after Fright Dome. Personally I really liked the trains when they were white with the old Grand Slam Canyon logo on it. The last remaining signage that said Grand Slam Canyon was removed last year. It was on a scale from the "Guess your Age or Weight" booth. It had the old logo Grand Slam Canyon and "Adventuredome" as the tag line. I had totally forgotten about the point system on the rides as I was six when the park opened. But it totally sounds like a pain! But I do remember waiting in long lines for both Canyon Blaster and Rim Runner. It has been a long time since I've seen them run both trains on Canyon Blaster, but when they do, they did an amazing job! Just think about how short the ride is. When running both trains they need to dispatch the train that is in the station before the train on the course passes the second loop to avoid stacking the trains. Anyone who has experienced being stacked on Canyon Blaster knows it is a painful experience! The only brakes on the course are in the station and in the transfer area. It was crazy sitting in the front row and coming in seeing the train waiting in the station and you slamming into the brake run. I was browsing the web and found these rare construction photos from Grand Slam Canyon. timeflix.com/projects/grand_slam_canyon.html Here's the old slides, this area is where the Bumper Cars are today. This is the area where Chaos is today. Here is a neat look back at all of the changes Canyon Blaster's trains have gone through in the last 16 years! RCDB Here are the original colors of the trains with the old logos. Note seven cars. The second set of colors right after the last car was removed, and before the renaming of the park. The third set of colors. And finally the current set. www.themeparkreview.com/denver2005/waterworld/waterworld1.htm I just wandered upon this as well. From TPR Water World in Denver, CO The short lived skyway from Grand Slam Canyon, I wonder if this is the actual one from the park. I only rode it at Grand Slam Canyon one time. The only logo I could find from ultimaterollercoaster.com For the park it said "Grand Slam Canyon" where Canyon Blaster is and "Adventuredome" on the bottom. John
  2. Robb, as many have said I'm glad to hear you are okay. It is really scary and amazing how quickly things can change in a blink of an eye. Something similar happened to me and my family when I was really young at the El Cortez casino here in Vegas. But the plus would be watching TPR videos in a new theater with a new HD Peojector!!! John
  3. I remember watching back in the day seeing commercials for The Big Red Boat. What ever became of them?? John
  4. Here was that missing picture. How Wet? Does anyone remember when Rim Runner had the front and back rows open in the boat? I remember getting soaked on that ride back then, now its a nice misting. They also used to have the bridge open where they have arcade games now, there were no windows so spectators could get soaked as well. Also when Grand Slam Canyon first opened there were a couple of slides where you went down riding a raft, much like Yosemite Sam's Sierra Falls. It was in the corner where the bumper cars, and swinging ship is today. Another fun fact, Grand Slam Canyon was originally a Pay To Enter park, and not a Pay Per Attraction park. I sure miss the dinosaur theme within the park. John
  5. Thanks for noticing that, I will fix that when I get home tonight. They removed the last car a few years ago, I believe it made the ride run a lot better! You can see in the station where the two gates used to be for car 7. John
  6. EDIT: Been cleaning up this post since a lot of the photos have fallen off, and made this one thread about all things Adventuredome! 2/9/10 was a crazy rainy day in Las Vegas, so what better than to head to the Adventuredome at Circus Circus (Which will always be Grand Slam Canyon to me) You gotta love the fact that when the weather is crap, you can still ride some rides. I got to the park around noon, and it was still pouring outside...As well as inside the dome, it doesn't rain much in Vegas so it is hard to pinpoint leaks all the time. The park was completely empty and Rim Runner, Bumper Cars, and the swinging ship were closed. Anyways, here are the photos. Rim Runner was closed all day. Evidence of off season welding to upkeep Canyon Blaster Canyon Blaster, one of my favorite Arrow Loopers Buckets and trashcans everywhere!
  7. Hey everyone, It's been two weeks since my visit to the mountain and I finally have an opportunity to post my photos from that trip. All I can say is we had a wonderful weekend at the park! First thing to note Terminator Salvation: The Ride was my 100th credit! I really enjoyed this coaster and is a coaster I don't mind riding over and over again! Gotta love the station fly-thru! I love Déjà Vu, but it's down for its annual rehab, cant wait to ride it again! It's not like anyone has taken this picture before... Goliath is looking pretty spiffy with its new coat of paint!! I can't believe it's already ten years old! I really love how Batman: The Ride now really stands out in this shot! I love sky coasters! FIRE! X2 was down both days for maintenance, but that didn't stop us from having a wonderful time at the park! Hope you all enjoyed this quick update! It was a bit quiet at the park, but that meant lots of re-rides! I cannot wait for West Coast Bash 2010! Hope to see you all there! John
  8. I really like this upgrade as well! Thanks for the upgrade! It seems much faster John
  9. I really like having a set dining time and the same waiter, they really get to know you and it is one of the moments while cruising that I really look forward to. They seem like family for the time that you are on the ship. I really don't think "Freestyle Cruising" will appeal to me either.
  10. I noticed that one of the trains didn't have the wheel covers on. I don't think I have ever seen a B&M Invert running without the wheel covers. John
  11. Thanks for the updates guys! Hope you are all having a blast! I must say I really love Royal Caribbean's Voyager Class Ships and above! Those ships are amazing! I cannot wait to see Oasis of the Seas! John
  12. Déjà Vu at Six Flags Magic Mountain. As well as Batman The Ride during Fright Fest when all of the lights are off. John

  14. A very sad year indeed. Roy, you will be missed. John
  15. This is AWESOME! I will be attending for sure! I cannot wait! John
  16. Sorry about the poor quality for these photos, they are from my phone. John
  17. Here are some of my photos from tonight. The Bellagio / Vdara Tram Station. Since the Crystals Mall wasn't open yet, the tram was just going back and forth between Bellagio / Vdara and Monte Carlo. John
  18. ^ There still is the free tram from Excalibur to Mandalay Bay.
  19. These are the opening dates: Vdara: December 1st, 2009 Crystals Mall: December 3rd, 2009 Mandarin Oriental: December 6th, 2009 Aria: December 16th, 2009 The Harmon: Late 2010 Also the new City Center Tram (If you remember there used to be a free tram from the Bellagio and the Monte Carlo) will run 24 hours a day. It will have three stops. Monte Carlo, Crystals Mall, and the Bellagio. John
  20. Thanks for sharing, looks really cool, and also looks like it's from Interactive Rides. The same seats and restraints used on Stratosphere's X-Scream and Insanity. John
  21. Camping out at Six Flags Magic Mountain for Tatsu's media day, and camping out for the Re-Launch of X2. Nerdy as it is, both events were completely amazing!!!!!! John
  22. Vekoma's Tilt Coaster, Gravity Max. Disneyland's Space Mountain gets completely re-tracked, along with Disneyland's 50th Anniversary. The closing and demolition of Psyclone and Flashback at SFMM. John
  23. Mine has to be duing West Coast Bast 2009 at SFMM, Riding Ninja during the freak Hailstorm that occured in the middle of the day. Extremely strange but fun at the same time! John
  24. It was cheap on the ship. So was Johnny Rockets. Basically only paying $4.99 service fee all inclusive menu. John
  25. Day One: Boarding Liberty of the Seas and setting sail. We arrived at the Port of Miami around 10:30AM. They started boarding the ship at 11:30 and if you cruise with Royal Caribbean, be sure to check in online. This will make the embarking of the ship happen very quickly! This was the easiest we have ever gotten on board a ship. This only took us about 15 minutes and we were on board. I will get onto the photos, there aren't any photos of the Muster Drill because they are very adamant about having everyone pay attention. I was happy that they don't make you wear the life vests anymore to the drill, mainly because it was extremely hot and humid! On to the photos!! This is my parents Balcony Room, I had they decorate it for their Silver Anniversary. It was a nice surprise for them. The Freedom Class of ships have much larger staterooms and full size LCD Televisions in each cabin. The view from their cabin... Hey it said oceanview stateroom!! Where's the ocean... Royal Caribbean's headquarters, if you google earth the headquarters, the building from the air looks like the famous crown and anchor logo. Downtown Miami My stateroom, it faced the Royal Promenade. I really liked this room. Though the restroom is small, I really liked how big this stateroom is. The Carnival Destiny, unfortunately I heard that this ship was having some engine problems and arrived and departed late this day. Liberty's Bridge. Nothing but open seas ahead of us. Miami Beach, a Saturday and much more crowded. The rock climbing wall. The Royal Promenade. Seattle's Best, as you can see the rooms facing inside the ship. Cheap ice cream! It was amazing The Middle window is my stateroom. The casino took more from me than I got back, but was still a blast! Ironically I just came here to get away from Vegas.. Johnny Rockets on the ship, all you had to pay was a $4.99 service fee, basically the tip, all food is inclusive. Great deal! My hallway. Every elevator on the ship had the day on the floor, you will never forget the day it was on this ship. Amazing they would all be changed before midnight for the next day. Hope you enjoyed this update, Day 2 and 3 will be next, both of which were at sea! More photos of this ship will come soon! John
