Totally love option 4! It just pops and catches your eye! -
^ Ironically my folks were on that same Royal Caribbean ship when this happened, everyone called me to see what was going on and I had to assure everyone my folks were on the Royal Caribbean ship and not the Carnival. But in other news, we booked my 25th Birthday cruise on Oasis of the Seas in 2012, I'm so excited!!!

What area really needs a theme park?
Mr Stratosphere replied to let1gre's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Las Vegas! The Adventuredome doesn't cut it. Since Wet 'N Wild was removed, there really wasn't anything else to do amusement wise. Please give us a theme park!!! -
I don't know what everyone's complaint is, heck I'm happy that SFMM is there and I have a place to go on vacation to ride coasters. I don't care if they are cookie cutter, or a little rough. Come to Vegas and ride the Manhattan Express or the Desperado on a bad day, then tell me about rough. I make it a point to try and get on everything when I get out there, I just enjoy coasters! Instead of complaing about it, I just want to go and have fun at the park. Also on the subject of food from a few pages back, does anyone else make it a must to grab some french fries from the Fresh Cut Fries booth across from the Goliath entrance? I love their Cajun Fries!!! They are a must on every visit to the mountain for me!!

The last time I was at the park (March) we ate at the Mooseburger and honestly had an amazing meal with quick and extremely friendly service! I had this chicken wrap which was huge! The portion was so big, I couldn't finish my meal. After that visit, I highly recommend the Mooseburger, the pricing isn't bad at all. I like the fact that you can have a nice sit down meal without having to leave the park.

I love the over exaggerated photo of the drop. They did that for the Desperado at Buffalo Bills too. Thanks for the update! As always I love everything you post Shane!! -
Coaster Shows on TV
Mr Stratosphere replied to kenshinmac's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
One of my favorites was Scream Parks! It was about Six Flags Magic Mountain and the opening of Goliath. It's amazing seeing the park with a totally different skyline, no Goliath, Deja Vu, X, Scream, or Tatsu. It's amazing how much the skyline of the park has changed in the last decade. -
Stratosphere's New 'Ride'
Mr Stratosphere replied to Twister II's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Though it isn't open to the public yet, here are some photos from the employee play day they had today! And no I didn't get to jump today, I'm sure the skydive from 15,000ft today was enough lol. ^ AMAZING! At least some parts of the former High Roller are being used again!! -
Good afternoon TPR (or morning depending on what side of the planet you live on)!! Well it doesn't exactly have to do with a specific theme park or attraction, we all are adrenaline junkies here right!? Anyways, my buddy Joshua and I decided to take a trip to Jean, Nevada just south of Las Vegas on I-15 to Vegas Extreme Skydiving today! First off let me tell you this, the employees and crew at this place were amazing in making you feel comfortable and welcome! I'm not gonna lie I was scared all the way up to the point that the chute opened up! It was 9AM and we watched the liability video, signed the forms, suited up, basic training, and right into the plane. We were told that we would be jumping from 15,000ft. From that height we could clearly see the Las Vegas skyline, Lake Mead, Primm, NV, Red Rock Canyon, and Mt. Charleston. Basically all of the recreation areas of the Vegas area. They took video (which I will be posting once I get them uploaded) and tried to keep the spirits up by joking around, even though you can clearly see the fear we were trying to hide. During this time we asked is it almost time. The response, No we're only half-way.... Talk about the longest lift hill in history! I thought this only happened on television but once we got to the jump zone a little green light came on and the door was opened. The sound of the air passing by the plane was overwhelming and you knew there was no turning back now. I jumped second and my buddy jumped fourth. It was crazy seeing the person before you leave the plane. We looked over and the jumper attached to me asked if I was ready, i said YES! We leaped out of the plane and the feeling was like what you feel on a skycoaster, but only for a few seconds. Once you hit terminal velocity it didn't feel scary or anything, kinda surreal, just much louder! 45 seconds into freefall the chute was deployed and everything got really quiet. It was an creepy feeling of calm and relaxation. The instructor let me take the helm and steer us through some spins and turns. That of which rival some of the best flat rides. The rest of the descent took about 5 minutes and was crazy. We got to the landing zone with a nice landing. All I could think of saying was, "CAN WE DO THAT AGAIN!!!" This is something I will never forget and was an experience I will take with me for a lifetime. I'm certain this will not be my last skydive. This whole process was done in about an hour. These guys are good at what they do! I was told they on average jump 5 to 6 times a day. Anyways enough with this I'm sure you all want to see some photos. These photos were taken from parts of the video that was shot. I'm still in the process of uploading them and will be sure to post them once they are done. We have two videos, one of me and one of my buddy Joshua. It will be neat to see the videos from their different perspectives. Walking out of the training facility, nerves already shot Boarding the plane, right about now, I'm glad I remembered to use the restroom... At least you get to chat before you get to plummet down to earth. Adrenaline is starting to kick in, but so is the fear. Halfway point. Great views, this is the smallest plane I have ever been on... We're at jump altitude, are you ready, are you gonna chicken out?? Seriously that's what they asked. That's me leaving the plane, an amazing rush! Face says it all... Once the chute was deployed, they let you take the controls, and it is an amazing feeling! Way better than a skycoaster.. Just after landing and my buddy Joshua landing in the background. Apologies for the bad quality, phone pic. For the first jump we had to get the DVDs and they are well worth it! We will be back for sure!! Oh and we got these snazzy shirts after we got back to the training facility! There will be more photos once I get them all uploaded! Hope you enjoy! Video soon to follow! This was an awesomazing experience that I will never forget! (Yeah I know I made my own word, Awesome+Amazing=Awesomazing!) If anyone is looking for the ultimate rush, I highly recommend skydiving!

My Review of Canyon Blaster

Not that I have ever noticed, however the experience in the front vs. the back of the train are completely different. -
Favorite Water Ride
Mr Stratosphere replied to SFMM rocks my socks's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Though they are both gone, my favorites were Grand Canyon Rapids and Over the Edge at MGM Grand Adventures. I loved the water bombs that would completely drench you on both rides. -
In the station they have these insanely fast air gates that I swear would seriously hurt someone should they be caught in their path. So take note when they stand clear. They mean it lol! Desperado is an alright ride. It just unfortunately hasn't aged well. It's rough but no where close to Manhattan Express. John

Going to parks alone?
Mr Stratosphere replied to alilstronger's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I've only had to do it once because everyone was really tired and spent most of the night at the hotel, single riders lines were great, but it's just not the same for me when you can share a great time at a park with someone else! John -
*** THE BEBES *** Rainbow Magicland ITALY TR
Mr Stratosphere replied to The Bebes's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
Fantastic photos! I must say Racing Colossus was fantastic! We managed to get every open coaster except DejaVu. A truly wonderful day at the mountain!! John -
For the Bellagio, the fountains and nozzles just come out of the water for the show. After the show they just tuck under the surface of the water. I do not know what they do as far as maintenance, I would assume they could change the level of the lake for that. But think about what Joey said, there is so much going on for World of Color and for the Bellagio its just the fountains and white lights. It's not as technical as WOC is going to be, but the fountains at Bellagio run much more frequently. From 3PM-8PM they run ever 30 minutes, and from 8PM-Midnight they run every 15 minutes. John

^ I haven't heard anything else about the new coaster, but I remember taking the photo of the boat sitting out back, the boat had been removed for scrap because there was a huge crack in the hull. John
