  1. Agreed, but the reason they were removed is the same reason they probably won't build another dark ride. Guest abuse. A day didn't go by where litter wasn't thrown at the scenery and gum/spit wasn't stuck to whatever could be hit with it. We were told this by the guy at the CP museum while reminiscing, and it was later confirmed by a friend of mine who used to work at CP. Apparently people used to be very respectful but suddenly at some point in the early 90's kids started getting shitty. Especially mistreated was the upside-down house, an awesome walk through funhouse. Who here is old like me and remembers all three, the Pirate Ride, San Francisco Earthquake and the Upside Down House?
  2. I have to echo the disdain for lift hills that lead to the station (Adventure Express @ KI I'm looking at you) and mid-course brake runs, but what about poorly placed trims (Raging Bull!) and worse yet my absolute enemy, the trick track! I know there's not many examples anymore but to me it's what kills Shivering Timbers, an otherwise world-class woodie. That section signals the beginning of one of the roughest finishes ever: The trick track jerk side to side followed by some harrowing off-the-rails bunny air into the the most spine-hammering wooden helix ever. I'll still ride it each visit, but ONCE.
  3. Mean Streak within a couple years of its opening. It beat me up so bad I shunned woodies for a while. Its got a cool layout, maybe steel track it and ditch some trims... I dunno but it's got to be rescued once and for all somehow.
  4. Oh jeez tell me about it. We just got back and I'm not quite clear if sharks like Snickers or not. I better go back and find out.
  5. I want to love them. Terrified. Put it in the dark, ok... Hollywood ToT, I can handle that... but out in the open air? Ugh. Something about it. And I've been on some pretty big coasters, I'm a CP, SFGAm and KI vet... but our first trip to KD is just weeks away. And I'll tell you what... I305 is scaring the duke out of me. I can't wait.
  6. I agree with most of you on Gs and smoothness. In that regard Diamondback at KI is probably my current favorite coaster. I am definitely falling out of love with Arrow loopers as I get older, headbanging and bad restraints is now a black mark on my dance card. Slow inversions also bother me, for example the keyhole twists at the end of X-Flight (SFGAm). For flats, it's airtime. I used to love lateral Gs (Scramblers all day!) but now I'll take CP's Skyhawk and Maxair (Delirium at KI) any day and all day.
  7. Just got back and I am happy to report that backwards Viper is amazing! Especially at night. While wearing sunglasses. I have opinions on other things but I'll leave those alone while I'm basking in the afterglow.
  8. As of last night my last ridden coaster has been updated to: A night ride on Backwards Viper at SFGAm. Sick.
  9. Very inspiring! We'll be at SFGAm in four days and I'm grinning like an idiot at your photos.
  10. This a thousand times. DB is amazing. Though I do still love RB unconditionally.
  11. SFGAm three weeks from now. Backwards Batman! After that... Kings Dominion for two days then BG for two days, first week of August. Can't flippin' wait!
  12. We'll be there early August and posts like this get me reeeal pumped... I'm a CP and KI veteran and this will be my first trip to KD. Very excited!
  13. I can't even contain myself. Just two short months until our first visit.
  14. My August visit is booked and paid for. Stoked. We're first timers. Two days at KD, Two at BG.
  15. Michigan's Adventure's Corkscrew. (back when it was Deer Park Funland before CF took over)
  16. 1. Rock 'n' Roller Coaster 2. Flight of Fear 3. Space Mountain (MK) ridden with sunglasses on! Do it. Is Expedition Everest considered dark? It's at least 50% indoor...
  17. Merry Christmas! What I got: - an 8 day November trip to WDW (2012) - a limb saw (trees not people) - a definite "go" to plan a late summer trip to BGW!
  18. Diamondback! My airtime champ. I will be exposed to I305 and Apollo's this August so that could change...
  19. My hope is: Cedar Point Kings Island Kings Dominion (1st time) Busch Gardens Williamsburg (1st time)
