  1. ^If more than one person on a roller coaster enthusiast forum says it, then clearly it is what the park needs to do, right? Weird coincidence.
  2. I agree that it would be an awkward choice for WoF to get a B&M hyper. Much more awkward than the Behemoth/Leviathan thing. Firstly, Leviathan is a whole 100 feet taller than Behemoth. I think it seems kind of obvious that CF wouldn't sink the same $30 million into WoF that they were willing to invest in CW, because WoF doesn't have anywhere near the 3 million annual visitors that CW has. And secondly, I feel like if WoF were to get a B&M hyper, while the GP would eat it up, it might have the effect of making Mamba (what the local gp currently views as an awesome ride and a major draw for going to WoF) seem crappy and outdated by comparison. I think it would be a weird move for WoF to make one of their premiere attractions somewhat irrelevant. I think some kind of launched coaster would be a good future addition at WoF. It would seem exciting and new to the GP without making Mamba seem lame by comprison as it would be a totally different experience. And it could probably come at a signigicantly lower price tag. I don't know, just my thoughts.
  3. ^^ But atleast Six Flags only let them go by the horribly lame "Big Spin" name for a few months before switching it to the far less lame "Pandemonium" name. Cedar Fair is perfectly content to go on using "Drop Tower" and "Flight Deck" season after season.
  4. ^^^ I think the Green Lantern "trend" might be over. The two Six Flags Green Lantern installments coincided with the release of the film last summer. And since the film was sort of a critical and commercial failure, I would be surprised if Six Flags used the Green Lantern theme for any more coasters. But I could be wrong. After all, Warner Bros Movie World is opening their Green Lantern El Loco this coming year. I just think the Joker is a solid theme to go with because he's always been probably the most recognizable of the whole DC Comics rogues gallery. Everyone knows who he is.
  5. Pandemomium sits on a slab of concrete. I don't think there will be much land-clearing involved. And Superman is super compact. I think they could install it in no time.
  6. ^^ Lol I don't think I could draw a puppy either haha. It was pretty easy, I just used shapes and lines. ^True, SFMM has a larger handful of rides to keep up with than SFNE does, but I'm sure they have a much larger team to work on them as well. I think it has more to do with it being Vekoma and the not-so-tight wheel assembly.
  7. Ok so obviously I'm not an expert or engineer, as evidenced by the fact that I made this crappy little thing in MS Paint, but I had an idea for how a lapbar restraint system could be fairly comfortable while ascending the vertical lift backwards for several second. So my thinking is that if the lap bar had handles that extended out and up to in front of the chest area, riders could use them to brace themselves so their upper-body wouldn't lean forward. Sort of like the handle that extends off the lapbar on Blue Fire. But as someone said before, it would probably be difficult to make a restraint system like this narrow enough for the GIB track. Anyway here's my little rendering of what I'm talking about.
  8. I agree. While I'm sure it would be possible, it would also be very uncomfortable having to basically hold your upper body up for that long while ascending the spike. But then again, so is having your noggin mercilessly bashed between OTSR's. I guess it's a lose-lose lol. I wish they could have come up with a 4-across vest-style train. But I'm still keeping my fingers crossed that these trains won't be so bad!
  9. Firstly, ^ totally never noticed that. Good question lol Secondly, I know some people on these boards think that MS Paint drawings are hilariously lame, but I find that making them is so much fun and such a great way to waste loads of my time, so whatever. Anyway, I think it would be great if CGA went ahead with the planned GCI at the front of the park for 2013, then in a couple of seasons, tore down that heap of wood Grizzly (which I'm sure would seem even worse with a great new woodie in the park for comparison) and replaced it with a compact, I305/Skyrush-esque hyper. So without any further ado, here's my crappy MS Paint rendering.
  10. I've experienced OTSR's on Mr. Freeze, Poltergeist, and Speed: The Ride, and I didn't enjoy enjoy any of those rides due to serious headbashing (I love the former two now that they've been lapbarred of course). If Goliath is going to be equally painful, I will gladly ride once for the credit, then let the hordes of GP fill up the queue while I pop an Excedrine Migraine, take a half hour respite, then marathon on Bizarro for the rest of the day. But I'm hoping that won't be the case. I mean, weren't the original GIB restraints equally bulky looking?
  11. Well It wouldn't really make sense for them to just throw the old trains in the garbage lol. Expecially since the new trains have never been used before. They could experience problems with the new trains, so it would make sense that they would ship the old trians with the ride in case they need to be used as a backup.
  12. ^ Pretty much the same thing happened to me last summer on NTAG. I purposefully kept my knees up so the ride op didn't staple me in, then as soon as we were tearing down the first drop I realized how stupid of an idea it was. I really thought I was going to die. And on NTAG, the restraints are really heavy and you can't really pull them down like on a B&M. It was terrifying.
  13. ^^ My ride was this summer too. Hmm. Anyway, back on topic. I know we really don't even know what it is yet, but I have a suspicion that Mirabilandia's 2012 addition might end being underwhelming compared to all the hype and anticipation.
  14. ^ I find that perplexing as well. Maybe it will be a vertical drop through a tunnel that is cooled to exactly 45 degrees? But would that be celsius or fahrenheit... So many questions!
  15. There is actually quite a difference between Nitro and the newer B&M hypers. I'd argue and say that Nitro has the BEST of the "B&M Airtime", and some of the newer B&M hypers, like Diamondback and Intimidator are very weak in comparison. Remember, Nitro opened in 2001, and B&M was still being a bit aggressive then. Not quite as much as the Intamin hypers of the same time frame, but by far more than their offerings in the past 5 or 6 years. I want to say that the trend of weaker B&M hypers started the following year, in 2002, with Silver Star. Ah. Having not been on any other B&M hypers, I didn't know that. I obviously have to believe you because, well, you're Robb Alvey lol. So touche! I've heard that about Kingda Ka quite a few times, but I didn't have that experience at all. It was perfectly smooth when I rode, and the only thing I found slightly uncomfortable was trying to keep my eyes open in the wind from that crazy launch. Maybe I just caught it on a good day?
  16. I've been on El Toro, Bizarro, and New Texas Giant, so I've definitely experienced some kick ass ejector airtime. But to me, good sustained floater airtime like on Nitro is rapturous. Even though they are both airtime, the two experiences are totally different to me, and I can't really say for sure that I like one more than the other. But anyway, I think the most overrated ride of 2012 is clearly Super Jet, the Pinfari Zyklon going into Parque Mutirama in Brazil. I mean, I know it will be amazing and everything, but haven't we heard ENOUGH about it already? It's all anyone has been talking about.
  17. ^ You just made all that stuff up didn't you? Those aren't real equations! Just kiddin. Nice!
  18. ^ Not that I'm saying I think MM's next project will be with Intamin, but I feel like the park working with Intamin on two projects in 2011, then going back to them for their 2012 project only INCREASES the likelihood of a 2013/2014 project being another Intamin. Parks like to work with manufacturers that they have established a good relationship with and have had successful projects with. That's why we saw Cedar Point build five Intamins in a row (MF, WT, TTD, Mav, Shoot the Rapids). And BGW kept going back to B&M. Magic Mountain doesn't care about what the enthusiast community thinks. They care about building projects that are going to be successful with the GP and about working with a company they have built a good relationship with. They're not going to say "Hey, we've been building too many Intamins, we need a ride from some other company." And anyway, it probably simplifies things to be able to order parts for multiple rides all from one place. I wouldn't be surprised if they placed orders for Lex Luthor at the same time as for Green Lantern and new EFK cars as some kind of bundle deal. And I wouldn't be shocked to hear thatas part of that bundle, they were already planning a future attraction with Intamin for the Logjammer site. Not saying the are; just saying I wouldn't be surprised.
  19. Why would Magic Mountain sink $25 million or so into building a strata that launches a little faster than S:EFK does (in theory) and goes up a tower a little taller? That just seems to similar to S:EFK. But then again, Leviathan and Behemoth, I know, I know...
  20. I think Kieran Burke is an idiot and I will never forgive what he did to Astroworld. Good luck Clementon.
  21. I love how the track flys right along that rock trench thing. That seems like it will be a cool effect in the far laft seat. God I can't wait!
  22. I just don't think Colossus' layout lends itself to being made over in the way that Texas Giant's did. But I bet they would still come up with something great. It certainly could only improve. I thought Colossus blew.
  23. Ah touche. I forgot about Chaos. But why do you think the wipeout and carousel were used? I assumed they were new because they went in at the same time as a whole batch of other brand new rides also from Chance.
  24. Awesome video! The mini-hu thing looks puketastic. Also, the Wave Loch guy is pretty easy on the eyes!
