  1. Which ones? I was pretty sure that all the rides on the boardwalk were bought new from Chance Morgan with the exception of the drop tower from Larson. I'm not saying I'm not wrong.
  2. ^Well the reason we are speculating about the flume that the pier is getting is because Interlink Rides released a statement that they have been commissioned to build a new flume for an undisclosed pier amusement park in the Southern U.S. (which logically would make the most sense to be Galveston). But that portable one from Reverchon is exactly the sort of flume I think we will see on the pier. Also, I have never seen Tilman Fertitta buy a used ride, so I would be shocked if he did now.
  3. Yeah, it does look kind of boring. My guess is it will just be a slimmer version of this. But I could be way off.
  4. It's a cute name, and I like the logo a lot. I entered the little contest too. My entry was "Let Freedom Swing!" lol.
  5. I think it will probably just be one of those compact models you see at carnivals. Lift, small drop, lift, larger drop, station. Like this one from the Interlink website.
  6. I don't think SFOT has anything to do with it. This project is primarily a furniture store with a small amusement area. It seems obvious to me that it isn't competing for the same attendees as SFOT. Sort of in the same way as Nickelodeon Universe at Mall of America isn't competing for the same target audience as Valleyfair or how Old Town isn't designed to compete with the major Orlando parks etc. It is more of a compliment to the shopping/dining.
  7. ^That wouldn't be too bad! It wouldn't be my first choice, but I definitely wouldn't complain.
  8. ^ Firstly, I'm not sure why you're using quotation marks on the word "need" as I never used that word in my post. Secondly, I also made no mention of cloning some other launched coaster, so I don't know where that came from. Anyway, though I don't think the park "needs" a launched coaster (clearly there are plenty of great parks that don't have one), I think it would be a great addition to SFNE. I think it helps a park to be more well-rounded to offer a variety of different ride experiences, and a launched coaster is a ride experience not represented there, so would therefore be a good addition. And of course I would prefer a good standard lift coaster over say a Premiere spaghetti-bowl clone, but I think something along the lines of blue fire, or even one of those Gerstlauer LSM coasters (a la Anubis: The Ride) would be great at SFNE. (Or god willing an Intamin Blitz, but I wouldn't hold my breath for that.) What standard lift coaster do you think seems like a good and realistic choice for SFNE?
  9. ^ Agreed. When the hell is this park going to have a coaster that launches? It's the only Six Flags park in the U.S. that doesn't have one. I have this little fantasy that when The Flash movie comes out (assuming it does) SFNE will get a launched coaster of some type and theme it to The Flash. But anyway, I'm still excited for the ugly green Vekoma of course. *EDIT: I just remembered SFOG has no launching coaster. I guess they're due for one as well!
  10. Ok so KCForce's description of this furniture chain further reaffirms my thought about the park being a small Mall of America-esque attraction. This actually sounds like a pretty cool idea and a fun place to shop for furniture. I have a blast shopping at IKEA and can stay for hours, so I bet I would love visiting this place. And anyway, I'm glad this isn't going into Houston. When Houston finally does get a new park, I want it to be much bigger and better than that. *Cough Earthquest Adventures Cough*
  11. It sounds to me like this is supposed to be more of a giant furniture superstore and the "theme park" will be more of a small attraction to keep kids entertained while parents shop. Sort of like how Gallery Furniture in Houston has a giant Chuck E. Cheese-esque playplace and a Rainforest Cafe to make shopping for furniture a fun event for the family. I think this sounds like it could be taking that idea to the next level. Somehwere in between that and Nickelodeon at Mall of America. So I wouldn't expect it to be anything to drive out for if you're not already planning to shop for furniture. So I wouldn't imagine they are trying to compete with SFOT. But who knows, maybe I'm way off.
  12. They easily could have made the rendering in the blue/green color scheme, so why wouldn't they if they were intending to keep the same colors? I'm really hoping this means they've decided to repaint. I think those colors would look much better in Crackaxle.
  13. I think that the discount on admission with a Coke can is only during the summer. However you will most likely be able to buy your ticket online at a cheaper price (tickets for Holiday in the Park are not yet available online but should be soon.) You can also buy parking and meal vouchers online for a little cheaper. Or, you get 5% off if you pay with Discover lol. But nobody has Discover so I'm assuming you don't either! Those are the only discounts I know of. Also, I wouldn't expect crowds to be heavy at all that weekend, but even if they are, SFOT has great operations, so I wouldn't worry about it too much. Hope this helps a little!
  14. Never got a chance to ride it back then, but I bet The Rattler's first drop was pretty insane before it got neutered. Just thought I'd throw in something besides El Toro.
  15. I think there are varying degrees of ignorance in the general public. I'm always intrigued by how some members of the GP are much more observant than others. For instance, one person might not even understand the difference between a wood coaster and a "metal" one. And then there are people who may not know very much about roller coasters, but can make observations about them. For instance, my cousin noticed that Pandemonium was similar to Gotham City Gauntlet, except that the cars spin, and it's a little more twisty than zig-zaggy. So I don't think it's really fair to generalize the GP as a giant mob of slobbering idiots who think a boomerang is the coolest ride in the world because it goes backwards. But the GP definitely exists.
  16. So the trackpiece looks like it could be this section of track on the Eurofighter 320+ model. I wouldn't be suprised if it was just another clone of that model (i.e. Rage, Untamed, Falcon). Not my first choice, but exciting anyway!
  17. God, I get really emotional looking at pics like these. I STILL can't believe AstroWorld is gone. I used to go once or twice a week. I know it sounds lame, but a huge part of me died when this great old park was razed. Great pictures.
  18. ^ Well the rumours have been saying that Laundry's took proposals from S&S for an El Loco model, and from Gerstlauer for a Euro Fighter similar in size to Rage and Untamed. So we'll see if that pans out, but knowing Tillman Fertitta, he likes to go pretty big, so I wouldn't be surprised. But anyway, Laundry's has a HUGE budget, so I don't think the cost will be an issue; more so the space.
  19. ^Although I have to say, Houston is a market that actually COULD support a large-scale park. Sigh. Oh well, I'm glad the Pleasure Pier is moving forward.
  20. ^ If you look closely on the website, you can see the sillhouette of Incredible Hulk. So obviously that's what is going to be on the pier. Just kidding of course. And I know right? Earthquest is taking forever. But I still feel pretty good about it's chances. Also, thanks Johnychen for backing me up on the Greezed Lightning idea!
  21. Awesome Palmerleeberry! All that color makes me even more excited for Skyrush!!
  22. ^ Lol. I don't understand why you think that this project being in Europe instead of the USA makes such a difference. Regardless of what country it is in, if the demographic isn't there, then the money won't be coming in.
  23. Yeah, I really don't see this working. But it's interesting nonetheless, so I did a little more digging. Here's a link to the site for CB Design, the Swedish company that is working on the project. They created the masterplan and concept artwork and there are a ton of pictures of a scale model they created. It looks like they're planning some interesting things for this park, including a roller coaster that looks like a strange variation on a Vekoma Boomerang. Here Also, it sounds like the working title for this project may be "Evoloution Park." I wonder if that would deter fundamentalist Christians lol...
  24. ^Where did you read 20 million visitors per year? I'm not saying you're wrong, but from my own little research I just did, I got around 6 million visitors per year. Either way, I don't see how one out of ever six, or even one out of every twenty people who go to vacation on the island are going to want to skip a day on the beach to go to an amusement park.
  25. I recently moved to Eastern Connecticut from Houston, TX. So now I'm about equal distance (45ish minutes) from Lake Compounce and SFNE. But what sucks is my best friend back home is an enthusiast, so I always had an excellent park buddy, but now I don't have anyone like that here If anybody around this neck of the woods wants to be my park buddy, send me a message!
