Best Dark Roller Coaster?
shesaidboom replied to drewelap's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!

Photo TR: Robb, Bethany, And Dallas do SFMM!

I can't believe Driving Force sponsored a coaster!! That show is awful. It's about that John Force drag racer guy and how he fails at raising a family. It's even worse than that show they made about Hulk Hogan's family. Every time I see a SFMM TR I want to go even more. I will eventually make it there..I hope Looks like you guys had a great time. Thanks for sharing -

Lift Hill With A View

We need some pictures up in here. -
Thanks for the positive feedback guys We found it kind of ridiculous that we went to a Tim Horton's in the US and they gave us a Canadian size large when we asked for a medium. The lid on the cup even said 'large', but it was being sold as a medium. Do they even have small fries at McDonald's there? We didn't see it on the menu at all. It's widely known that to get more bang for your buck in regards to food stuffs, Canadians should travel south of the border. AND PEOPLE WONDER WHY AMERICANS ARE SO FAT We never understood the George Forman Grill reference until we rode Night Wing. The worst part was they locked you in and left you laying there for at least five minutes before they even started the ride. We will never be doing this again. This was back in August, the 27th to September 2nd, we just neglected to mention the dates. It would've been fun to meet up with someone since it's usually just us. Anyway, Lake Compounce update will be up in a bit.

We didn't do much in Montreal as we were really there to just go to La Ronde and were only there for a day and a half, but what we did encounter wasn't fun! Most of the people I know who love Montreal are really into the club scene, and they seem to have a blast there. Neither of us are really into that, so that could explain it. I know there's much more to do in the city than that, but I did most of it when I was younger and had the same thoughts then. I can't say I'm a huge fan of Toronto either, so I'm not going to try to say it's much better. I do know that we were extremely happy when we left Montreal though. It's not related to the store, I didn't actually know there was a store called She Said Boom until about a month ago when someone on another message board asked me the same thing We will finally get around to doing our SFNE update tonight. So more pictures soon!

Some questions about SFGadv....
shesaidboom replied to canada's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
How about you just get a freakin flash pass and stop asking about it? It's going to benefit you in the end anyway, and everyone has already told you that basically, without a Flash Pass, you're screwed for riding everything - let alone re-rides. So just get it! We went to the less-packed SFNE for two days, and without it we probably would've got on less than half the rides we ended up getting on. Moral of the story: Stop asking if you should get it, and just get it. -
That's really neat! I've never seen anything like that before. Were there any problems with aggressive dogs, or did the leash rules take care of that? Also, that dog is gorgeous.

Roller Coaster on a Cruise Ship?
shesaidboom replied to ducky's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Maybe the staff members on my parents cruises were just jerks They haven't been on the Disney cruise, but have been on Royal Carribean, Carnival, and Princess something or other. I remember my mom saying she thought it was a silly rule, especially since there weren't really ever long lines for the slides and people were turned away when there were no lines at all, so it's good to know they aren't always like that. -
Roller Coaster on a Cruise Ship?
shesaidboom replied to ducky's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I could see a kiddie coaster on a cruise ship, but not really anything else. I'm also not sure if coasters would appeal to the typical cruise go-er. Maybe that's not fair to say, since all kinds of people go on cruises, but I'm still not sure if there'd be enough interest in it to actually go ahead with the idea. If there were a kiddie coaster you'd most likely need a kid to ride anyway. My parents are cruise "enthusiasts" and on every ship they've been on [that has had them] you've always needed a kid to use the waterslides. -
shesaidboom AND 307 GO TO MONTREAL AND NEW ENGLAND IN SEARCH OF THEIR 200TH COASTERS AND A BUNCH OF OTHER CRAP!!! PART TWO OF ... THREE? FOUR? WHATEV. When we last left our intrepid coasterites, they were driving as fast as possible away from Montreal with their middle fingers held high. As with the first day of driving, this was a day full of rain. The boarder crossing also yielded a search of the trunk for narcotics, aliens, aliens on narcotics, or Mexicans stuck in the glove compartment. Yes, those can be found by looking in the trunk. Don't ask me how. It's like a sixth sense for boarder guards. Two hours later, the rain was still raining, but we had arrived at our next destination: The Great Escape. Jer had already been to the Great Escape in 1997, and had a lot of fun riding Comet. However this time, there were new credits to enjoy. Yay new credits. The rain was a double-edged sword. On one side, it repelled crowds, leaving the parking lot practically empty. On the other side, many rides were closed - including three credits [all three which would've been new to Jer - *including* the bobsled, Nikki's most looked-forward-to ride at the park]. Shortly after arriving, we were told that the park would be closing. Damnit! We had but two hours at the park, and managed to ride only Comet, Boomerang, Steamin' Demon and Canyon Blaster [my only new credit]. So much for 200 on this trip for Jer. Without further adieu, onto the pictures, this time - with 100% less bashing of the city! PS here's a llama Omg donez. We had a lot more fun during our abbreviated two-hour, half-open park stay at the Great Escape than we did in our entire two day stay in Montreal. Take *that*, Canada. The Princess was wandering around the park all day getting absolutely soaked. We think this picture sums up the day effectively: it's wet, has a bad Arrow in it, and the only people in the picture are park employees. Holy god did this ride suck. They're going to tear down the bobsled but keep THIS?! The monsters. Something we had to endure far too often at the park. Jer fits in with this picture a little too well, don't you think? Nikki wants to govern things, but her pencil and notepad are glued to the desk. Someone must be playing a "welcome to office" rib on her. I'm really not doing too well with captions today. This snail was my broseph from back when I was reppin' west side. After awhile, Nikki lost all control of her emotions, and ran up to the trough, hugging it as if she'd never see it again. And she won't! Ever the sympathetic boyfriend, Jer immediately began taking pictures, pointing and laughing. Nikki was deeply saddened by the lack of bobsled. She stood in front of the queue for 20 minutes with a sad puppy-dog look on her face. First one to guess what's going on in this picture gets a silver dollar. Hint: We're not making origami. While Nikki took pictures of Comet, Jer decided to run around and splash in puddles. It was more fun than Boomerang. Jer + elephant ears = the white Dumbo Despite all the rumours we've heard about how the ride has been completely neutered, it was still a lot of fun and was really smooth and speedy. Nikki also liked to not put the camera in her pocket and just let it get more wet Some of the pictures were ruined because, well, they were being taken in the rain. "No! The rain *hurt* face." The rain stung Nikki's face. Hurt! There were five or six people who just kept going on it over and over again, but otherwise, it was just us, the rain, and wood, glorious wood. Apparently everyone else was too busy not riding Comet to ride Comet. Yay, a good coaster! At this point, we still had no clue what was open or closed. Thank God Boomerang wasn't our only credit. Boomerang brings the pain, especially since I knew I didn't *need* to be on the coaster. ...it worked, unfortunately. I already had the boomerang credit, so I let Nikki ride by herself. The ride ops were quite friendly and spent most of the time attempting to get me to ride. Batman was scared to go out in the rain. I guess that suit isn't water-retardant. He also seemed less than happy about my "HI BATMAN. PRETTY CRAPPY WEATHER, HUH?" greeting. Look, it's the Great Escape. Fortunately, not too many people were escaping here today. The rain, however, was. This picture rocks. LOLZ.

It was all in jest. We make fun of ourselves all the time too. Also, point us to the place where we said Toronto didn't suck? We don't try to offend and it's not like we're personally attacking people from Quebec, so please don't take it as that. [Jer: "Montreal does whatever I say it does!"] Also, from our experience, we found that we disliked Montreal. It's just our opinion. And this is *our* thread Here, a haiku just for you: Toronto smells bad At least we're not Hamilton Rancid Kraft Dinner!

We went on August 28th. Lines were a big problem, but that definately wasn't the only reason we didn't have a good time. Operations were really poor, dispatch times really long and only one train on everything besides Goliath. It was generally a crappy day outside. There were bees everywhere! People were rude and there was a lot of line jumping, none of which was disciplined. It was a lot of little things that added up. Don't think that we're upset or anything with you because you said schools would be open, that's not the case at all. We actually appreciated your help and advice. We just thought it would be a funny haiku

shesaidboom AND 307 GO TO MONTREAL AND NEW ENGLAND IN SEARCH OF THEIR 200TH COASTERS AND A BUNCH OF OTHER CRAP!!! PART ONE OF ... THREE? FOUR? WHATEV. Witness the thrills! The chills! The spills! The dills! Okay well I don't think either of us ate any dills on this trip, but we'll just pretend for the sake of rhyme that we enjoyed a good crisp dill. So anyway this trip was not really planned as far in advance as some of our others, which is to say we still had like two months of planning around it. We had originally envisioned adding Seabreeze to the itinerary, but a lack of funds from Jer's jobless ass forced us to cancel. We have always had good luck on trips, be it with good weather, most coasters being open, generally empty parks and basically not a lot of hindrance to our enjoyment of the trip. There's always a first one that goes bad, though, and for us - I am hoping it was this one. 'Cause like, if it got worse than some of this trip, boy howdy I'd really be tempted to just give up coaster riding. Part One: La Ronde [...it's in this post, stupid] Part Two: The Great Escape Part Three: Six Flags New England Part Four: Lake Compost Day One Part Five: Lake Compost Day Two/Conclusion --- Stop one on our trip was La Ronde in Montreal, a report which we will present to you - IN THE FORM OF HAIKUS! Before we begin, I'll give you a reasoning as to just why we decided to report in haikus: Montreal and La Ronde sucked so hard that we were forced to create haikus to help pass the time and keep our sanity. CanobieFan and sfne2003 - we're both in agreement that you guys are the jerks for having such a good time here whilst we got "le shaft". Without further adieu, let's get to haiku! [no photo] Boomerang was closed Missed the credit, but oh well Get to keep brain cells! Nice view from hotel The best part of Montreal Was when we left it [haikus all finished!] [comments are very much welcomed] Ground hog, not beaver Annoying kids tortured it Ignoramouses Goliath had air Trim brake on the return leg Killed all the forces Goliath was fun Really needs a helix though Cobra stole them all Something millipedes No credit, needed a kid But Jer ate them all So many bees here Terrorizing guests in line They sting little kids How funny is this? A frog ride in Montreal! Yummy irony Jamaican bobsled Italia yes, France no Hit them with baguettes! Tobbogan Nordique Featuring an hour long wait But no enjoyment The tram thing was neat Provinces written in French Nunavut gets shaft Bored of haikus? Yes! It's either haikus or this Spider webs for lunch! People like Dragon? I do not understand why Waited too damn long Super Manege, hi It's an orange Vekoma Uninteresting Look, a lot of wood! It goes shuffle, we go ow It needs some new trains Another lift hill Will they ever get boring? Nikki don't think so Here is the s-turn Certainly not a helix It sucked nonetheless Hope you like helix Because that's all you will get Helix, helix, he Cobra does nothing Intamin had a brain cramp Intestines bleeding The first of many Nikki loves lift hill pictures Go eat some poutine! Vertical Looping This coaster provides the thrills Scene kids in the line Bouchee du Vampire? What in the hell does that mean? Go eat some poutine? French Batman is good Operations are so slow Go eat some poutine Kids at school today? canada's predictions: wrong! Go eat some poutine Rainy night, park closed Early anger sets the mood Some foreshadowing? Montreal, the suck Bad service, bad English too It smells like baguette

Photo TR: Julie and Kevin invade SoCal!
shesaidboom replied to USRoadTripper's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
Glad to see another Julie TR, yours are always great! Also glad to see you had a good time at SFMM. That's one of the parks I've always wanted to visit and I'm hoping to not be completely disappointed once I do finally get the chance to go. I look forward to reading the rest of your TR. -
I have a list of about 12 or 13 books I have to get for classes. Only three of the books are available right now and those three books alone cost $395. Unfortunately, not all the books are available used and the ones that are really aren't that much less. Also, when you're driving on a highway and it's so dark and rainy that you can only see the car infront of you because they're smart and have their lights on, TURN ON YOUR LIGHTS SO I CAN SEE YOU!

Good to hear it's possible to actually have a good day at La Ronde. It was absolutely packed when we went, even though someone on here said it was the day kids went back to school. It wasn't, they start this week. We only re-rode Goliath since everything else had incredibly long lines/slow operations/one train. I guess we just had a bad trip..three out of the four parks we visited ended up not working out. Glad you guys had fun though.
-
Yes! The park being closed was definately a good thing. I was there the day before [almost did the same thing you guys did and went on Tuesday, luckily my boyfriend checked the schedule!] and I can honestly say I will never go again. Worst time I've ever had at a park. I do have to agree that this is probably the most awesome TR ever.

Superman Ride of Steel at SFNE. -
Flying Coasters!
shesaidboom replied to Ryan King's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I've only been on X-Flight, Superman at SFGam and Tomb Raider at PCW. To be honest, I didn't particularily like any of them. Too much on-your-back time on X-Flight and it was kind of rough, nothing really special about Superman besides the pretzel loop, and Tomb Raider is just the worst ride I've ever experienced. I found the restraints [or I guess cage, when it comes to Tomb Raider] on all of them to be very uncomfortable. I voted for Superman because I really did like the pretzel loop..but Flyers definately aren't my thing. Although I might change my mind if I ever get to ride Tatsu.
