What's the worst station you've been in
DougMJr replied to tribar's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I don't like RoS's station at all... Or any station where you enter at the ends rather than the middle. In order to get to the middle/front of the train you have to swim a sea of sweat and bodies. Not fun. -
I wasn't alive in 1981, so 2011. Soft serve or hard ice cream.

Ride Attendant Foul-Ups

^Good point about the 2004 accident... I'll look into that. The track jumping I'm talking about occurred as the train was entering the station. As in, the train was parked where he jumped over probably no longer than 5 seconds after he crossed. Too risky in my opinion. -

Using this logic, you can justify just about anything. e.g. "500ft aquatrax wingrider with duel launches... There's a first time for everything!" -
Ride Attendant Foul-Ups

There isn't? I know that intamin's built earlier to Dragster has systems in place to monitor lapbar positions. RoS at Darien Lake has a system in place. I once witnessed an operator unable to dispatch because they could not get a lapbar closed enough on a heavy-set individual. I'm sure if a mega from 1999 has restraint monitoring a strata from 2003 would. -

I'm inclined to believe the opposite... While break runs have more hardware involved, they are generally straight pieces of track. I'm no expert, but I would think that curved pieces that would be used in hills would cost more to manufacture than a straight piece of track. -

Earlier this summer I was making a quick trip to Martin's Fantasy Island. While queueing in Silver Comet's station I witnessed an employee jump the tracks while the train was entering the station. If he fell he could have easily been hurt by the station brakes or the train itself. Nobody else seemed to care but I thought it was reckless. -
I agree an S&S free fly could be really cool. I also think a B&M wing rider could be epic of done right, but I don't think Disney would do any ride that would require riders to put loose articles in lockers. But a free fly with banshee themed cars, a custom layout, and cool scenery could be awesome.

Purchase Martin's fantasy island and make Grand Island the Cedar Point peninsula of WNY. -
The f#@%??? This is so messed up. Now what happens when you're halfway up the hill and you decide you don't want to ride anymore, then you're really screwed. I'll pass on this credit. Also, why the clothoid loops? If you're going to die anyway g-force shouldn't be a concern.

Maurer-Söhne, I prefer to face outwards... Fried dough, or funnel cake?

Save the hippos! I find it absolutely horrible the living conditions these beautiful creatures have to live in. Being shot at more than Mr. Fiddy Cent on a daily basis! I can't believe that this has not hit any major news networks yet.

I don't see Darien Lake shutting down IMO. Attendance is still pretty good, and a big draw for the park is the performing arts center. I went last Tuesday and the park was pretty busy. Also, from what I see improvements are being made. The park is defiantly cleaner this year, although there still is the grafitti problem. What I would love to see happen is build an indoor water park south of the lodge on the lake hotel, between it and superman. You could connect the hotel and draw people to the resort year round, perhaps increasing profit margins and allowing more timely investments in the park. Also, I would love to see RoS repainted and rethemed. I always imagine silver supports with red track, and at night have different colored lights like Millenium force. I also want to see motocoaster removed, I hate it's current location... Which is just sitting on a gravel filled pool. The park has plenty of room to expand, especially if you sacrifice some of the seasonal camping spots. It has so much potential, it just has to have the right ownership at the right time.

I will make it to CW next season to get on this! I agree it's kind of an odd choice with behemoth and all... But who cares! I'm just glad that there are two awesome B&M hypers that I'll have the opportunity to ride. -
I highly doubt those supports by mind eraser are from thunderbolt, because they have been there for years... I'm pretty sure it's just storage track for mind eraser, however I have never been to Darien lake during the off season. ^I hope Darien Lake doesn't drop HFE. While they didn't have a good season, there was improvement this year. Especially season ticket processing. I think that HFE could do so much if given the time.
