Top Roller Coaster Myths & Rumors!
SoCalCoasters replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I encountered this too on my first trip to SFMm...I also had the DejaVu ride ops try to get me to ride, even though I was too short at the time! Scary thing is they were completely serious. -
Inclined loops? No I do not. 135 just doesn't seem enough. I can accept 150 but for me personally, eh...not that the number matters, except for The Smiler which better have 15! The Bandit eh? Not bad but all are weak when compared to The Comet at Hershey Park. Now that is a ride that splits your soul open If you're in an element that twists more than 135°, your body is considered to be in an upside-down position, making it an inversion. And really, even on inclined loops, you are pretty close to being inverted.

Radioactive (Cover) Imagine Dragons - Lindsey Stirling and Pentatonix If you liked the original, there's a good change you'll like this one too, it's extremely well done and features one of the most talented violinists of this age of music.

Honestly the amount of time it would take to reduce the polys and do the importing wouldn't be worth the payoff. Don't bother with trying to put this in RCT3, if anything, wait till Theme Park Studio comes out this summer and see if you can adapt the model then. Or if you have access to the full corporate version of NL, you could always put it in there.

^Elizabeth's Theme is beyond beautiful.

Awesome. I look forward to seeing it. Wish the performance side of the sport would show up at more parks, as it's awe-inspiring to watch a well choreographed performance. Haha, I know that feeling, but from the other perspective. There's been a few shows I've done where it feels like you're going to accidentally kick someone in the audience, even on an elevated stage.

Quick question: Does the park still have an Irish Dance show? I might be heading out to the park this summer, and since I'm a an Irish Dancer who competes, as well as one who performs, I was hoping to check out the show if it was still around. Plus, I want to see how my school's choreography stacks up. If it's not still around, does anyone have a decent quality video of it?

My understanding is that they do the "exaggerated" gestures so that supervisors can check to make sure they're doing to visual scans before dispatch. This allows the supervisors to watch from afar, and do random checks on ride operators to enforce the operation procedures. Correct me if I'm wrong but a couple years ago at Bay Area Bash they said the visual scan movement was put in place because they were worried about about employees neglecting to do a visual scan before dispatch. Basically what I think it probably translates into is this: Insurance. By having the exaggerated movement they're ensuring they're free from a lawsuit saying someone was endangered on a ride due to a ride op failing to do a visual scan at dispatch. It sounds ridiculous I know, but in this lawsuit-happy day and age, you have to be very careful.

Legoland California Discussion Thread
SoCalCoasters replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Update! Woo! I went back to Legoland on Sunday afternoon for the first time in quite a while (curse you school!) and was pleasantly surprised with all the changes. My main reason for attending was to check out the brand new Legends of Chima 4-D show. Legends of Chima 4D-Xperience Review: You may have already seen my review of it on Screamscape, but I'd like to clarify some of the points that I made. The new show was a fantastic effort overall, and thoroughly enjoyed by all the younger kids in the theater. While I personally found the animation to be a little rougher around the edges than past films, the gorgeous sets and fantastic incorporation of 3D elements more than make up for it. The in-house effects are definitely the best of any of the 4D films I've seen in the park. Here's where I'd like to reiterate a bit of a warning to any of those who plan on seeing the show. If you're near the front, prepare to get wet! There's a mounted hose on the floor of the stage in front of the screen, and during the course of about a minute of the film, you're blasted with the hose. That scene also gives everything in the theater a thorough drizzle as well. While it feels more focused on product promotion than a lot of the past films (Racers, Spellbreaker, and to a degree, Clutch Powers), it's still very high quality, and kids are bound to love it. Also if the park reads this, the Bird Character's audio levels were very low during the show, and I had trouble hearing the dialogue for part of it. Construction/General Park Update Park updates in order of appearance: -New Separate Parking entrance being built with two new kiosks (possibly for hotel) -Legoland Hotel Construction Progress: Clock tower is working already! - Front plaza work -Brand new Legends of Chima 4D Xperience + Walk around character and giant character model. -Giant Lego Spider has appeared on the way up to Castle Hill -Playtown Theater is changing into a brand new show? That's all I have for now. Enjoy the update. Last thing: If you renew your Merlin season pass right now you get one of six different $20 dollar value Lego sets free. The Chima one I got was actually quite nice. -
entertainment. I hope you are right, the Ninja's self life is over here. I would like to see it replaced with Medusa from Great Adventure, or anything substantial for that matter. I used to think the same thing. I rode Medusa the year it opened, and I loved it. However, I rode SFMM'S clone last year and I never realized how forceless the ride is. It's almost behind the times. Forceless? I think you're mistaking that for comfort. B&Ms are designed from the heart line so you're body isn't placed uncomfortably anywhere in the ride.

Seeing as Oz the Great and Powerful opened this weekend, I thought I'd re-post this from a while back: http://Screamscape Link I saw the movie and enjoyed it quite a bit for what it was. I don't know about you guys, but I think the idea of having to enter into an Oz themed area THROUGH Frontierland is genius, and fits in with the story perfectly.

Fuji Q Highland or Tobu Zoo Park
SoCalCoasters replied to urkobilbo's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Here's one reason I can think of for doing Fuji-Q over Tobu Zoo: Takabisha -
^I know they announced SATE 2013 as being in North America, but I don't think any details aside from that have been released yet, since right now most of the TEA's focus is on the upcoming THEA Summit and Gala in April. We'll probably see more details emerge afterwards. It looks like all the FL based Designers will be coming out for the event, and even if someone is not interested in the creative design industry itself, any theme park fan should check this out, as it is an amazing opportunity to hear from the people who put together some of the industry's most incredible attractions.
