  1. ^Maybe some "Bootie Light" then? One of the worst beers I've ever tried. I think the brewery folded!
  2. Slogging through a half day at work then catching a flight to LA. See ya'll tomorrow morning!
  3. Hmm, now that I think more about it, the mini new hotness tour sounds appealing.
  4. Came across some old postcards of SFoG. Pretty neat. More here.
  5. Looks like no UK trip option in the next few years? Unfortunately I'm probably not going to be able to make a 2014 TPR trip.
  6. Sky Rider is an awesome coaster. I'm not kidding!
  7. Seriously! We're getting one of the largest capital investments of any Six Flags park for 2014, and all people can do is complain that SFoG isn't getting a coaster with a block brake? Bizarre.
  8. Yin, thank you for these updates! It should be an awesome coaster.
  9. Apparently you haven't been on Mind Bender or Dare Devil Dive.
  10. This is great. I'm sure it will be very popular, and on hot days it could help shorten the lines on the coasters. As for White Water, Metro Atlanta has 6,000,000 people, and Six Flags also draws people from nearby areas of Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, and South Carolina. There really is no close competition. Two water parks is no problem.
  11. This ride looks incredible. The "inverted zero-g stall" is insane. Congrats to SFGAm for getting a major coaster so soon after X-Flight. But Six Flags sure is fast and loose with the "record breaking" superlatives. Tallest wooden coaster? No way. Fastest wooden coaster? Probably, but debatable. Reminds me of SFMM calling Full Throttle the tallest looping coaster. Anyway, I'm not complaining - the ride looks amazing, and the marketing people are doing their job!
  12. Maybe part of the announcement is a "year of backwards," including backwards Goliath?
  13. SFoG has kept a pretty good lid on this. There's been leaked information from several Six Flags parks already (SFA, SFGAm, SFDK, SFStL), but we really don't know what's coming to Atlanta. Water park? Water ride? Coaster? Who knows!
  14. I agree, these are just what Cedar Point needs. Perfectly fills the gap between kiddie rides and thrill rides, while improving the look of a dated area of the park.
  15. This should be a really good fit for the park. It's fun, smooth, has some intensity but is still family-friendly, and is visually impressive. It will be a great complement to the other rides at Holiday Park!
  16. Madrid is a perfect city for a 5 or 6 day trip. Great food, architecture, culture, nightlife and museums. A couple of good day trips like the medieval city of Toledo (just a short train ride away). Parque de Atracciones and Parque Warner are both in Madrid, and both easily reachable by public transit (although PW is out in the suburbs, but there's a train that goes straight there). The coasters aren't the best, but PW has the excellent Superman floorless and a Batman clone, and Parque de Atracciones has a very good spinning coaster (Tarantula) and the unique Abismo, plus an Intamin invert. Both parks are open in October/November, although possibly weekends only. Not sure about festivals/conventions, but Madrid is a huge city with things constantly going on, so I'm sure you could find interesting things. Also it's not a problem if you don't speak Spanish.
  17. Looking at Mitch's Steel Poll, the top 10 B&Ms are: 6. Shambhala - hyper 9t. Katun - inverted 12. Nemesis - inverted 17. Montu - inverted 18. Leviathan - hyper 19. Nitro -hyper 20. Goliath (SFoG) - hyper 22. Pyrenees - inverted 26t. Behemoth - hyper 26t. Diamondback - hyper And the bottom 10 B&Ms are: 311. Vortex (Carowinds) - stand-up 294. Vortex (CGA) - stand-up 283. Apocalypse - stand-up 205. Mantis - stand-up 175. Batman: the Dark Knight (SFNE) - floorless 164. Hydra - floorless 159. Scream! (SFMM) - floorless 153. Georgia Scorcher - stand-up 136. Silver Bullet - inverted 134. Patriot - inverted So it looks like inverteds and hypers are the most popular (with the exception of Silver Bullet and Patriot), and Stand-ups are the least popular. Some floorless coasters are also relatively unpopular.
  18. I guess we'll have to wait until August 29th to know for sure, but I'm guessing some slides or other water rides. We want a new coaster, but it does make a lot of sense for SFoG to add some more water attractions. Skull Island is always packed, and the lines are usually pretty long for all of the water rides. Water attractions are also good for families. So it makes good long-term sense, and leaves the door open for a major 2015 coaster!
  19. Yay, Europa Park! Keep the pictures coming!
  20. 1. You can pull out Canadian cash from any ATM in Canada. Very easy, and you'll get the best exchange rate. You also can use your credit card for everything, so you don't even need to exchange if you don't want to. 2. Yes, knock them out early, especially the low capacity ones. Go directly to the Fly, then Time Warp. Since it's a Monday it hopefully won't be too busy, but you should try to get these two low-capacity rides done first. With Fast Lane Plus, you'll be able to get as many rides as you want on Leviathan and Behemoth. It's money well spent. 3. I'm not a big flat-ride fan, so I'm not sure. Psyclone (frisbee) was good. Sledgehammer was closed last month. Again, with Fast Lane Plus, you'll have plenty of time to go on all of the rides. 4. Not exactly magic seats, but on the woodies try to ride in the front to avoid roughness. Also front "seat" on Sky Rider and Vortex. Buy your ticket online today for $29.99. Have fun!
  21. Wow, thanks for the very comprehensive report. Faarup looks awesome.
  22. Thanks for the pics! I don't think I've seen a TR of this park before. Looks like it could use some love, but is still a charming/historic small park.
  23. I rode Great American Scream Machine at Six Flags over Georgia 78 times in a row for the Children's Healthcare of Atlanta Coasterthon last year.
  24. Also Nickelodeon Universe in Mall of America (Minneapolis) is a small family-friendly park.
  25. Just got my airfare and booked a rental car. Very excited - I haven't been to SFMM in 12 years!
