  1. I was actually expecting this thing to be in one of the indoor parks in China, but it's interesting that it's in Vietnam. It seems like their amusement industry is going to be booming soon.
  2. Georgia Scorcher is smooth as glass. I found Riddler's to be really smooth as well, and it's by far my favorite stand up coaster.
  3. The Phantom is indeed absolutely amazing. That headchopper from the Thunderbolt makes that drop even better. Although, I do miss the inversions from the original coaster.
  4. I was in one a few years ago, but it didn't work for me. I don't think I'd do it again.
  5. August 2013 (I've had bigger fish to fry) When was the last time you visited a new park?
  6. I never found Mantis rough, but there was some pretty bad headbanging during the finale. Green Lantern to me is incredibly painful. The first time I rode it, it pulled a muscle in my leg (but that was partially my fault for riding it with a leg injury). Tried it again this year and found it slightly less painful. The only difference was my leg in one piece. It's the ONLY B&M I've ridden out of 40 some that I will NOT ride again.
  7. Outlaw Run - Silver Dollar City
  8. OP: I got your PM, but for some reason, my response wouldn't leave my outbox. But here it is: To be honest, I've never used their Quick Queue system before. That being said, BGW does get VERY crowded nowadays. They recently had to build a new overflow lot to double the number of parking spaces! If you go during the week in May or June, you may not need it. However, I'd still keep it in mind just to be safe. If you visit on a weekend (unless you go very early in the season), I would definitely buy it. Once you decide when you're visiting, check for special events happening that day. If something is happening, the park will most likely be crowded. Whether or not you buy it, you'll definitely have a wonderful time! (Sorry to double post!)
  9. I wouldn't call Goliath rough. It fits better in categories like "violent" or "torturous."
  10. Robb, I love video! It's very handy for conversation since it's on my iPhone. I would love to see a Volume 2!
  11. If your girlfriend liked Chicago so much, you could hit up a multitude of parks in the area. Obviously, there's Six Flags Great America nearby, but if you're willing to do a bit of driving, you could easily visit Cedar Point and Kings Island. If you want to visit some small and medium parks, Michigan's Adventure, Indiana Beach, and Little Amerricka can be easily added. New York City might be another option for you. Obviously, there's tons of stuff to do in the city, and there are some great parks in the greater area. Six Flags Great Adventure and Six Flags New England aren't terribly far away, and then you've got Coney Island right in Brooklyn. Plus, there's a multitude of smaller parks that can fit in your trip beautifully.
  12. Incredible Hulk - Islands of Adventure
  13. Yeah...walking wouldn't be too bad. It would be nice if they reopened the south entrance since it's a shorter walk.
  14. Cedar Creek Mine Ride - Cedar Point
  15. ^ Just your mentioning of the name "Shoney's" made me gag!
  16. I do agree with this as well. I think all the kiddie coasters I've been on in recent years have been when we were on a trip with a group and there was a kiddie coaster not far out of the way. That being said, outside of the TPR Tours, I don't think I've personally gone out of the way, even just a few miles, for a "credit" in years. Case in point, even our last trips to India and Japan we were within 10 or 15 miles of some crappy kiddie "credit" that we skipped just because we wanted to focus more time on quality or doing other things in said country rather that riding some crappy coaster just to pad the count. Makes perfect sense to me. I'm sure after the 500th crappy kiddie coaster, the idea of kiddie credits starts to lose its appeal. There have been plenty of times where I've also skipped them for various reasons. When my friend and I were planning our upcoming trip to the UAE, I debated on getting certain credits or seeing the cool sights. Obviously, the culture is going to be a much better choice than driving to some goofy city just to ride a bloody Zamperla mouse.
  17. Robb, I totally I agree with the Alpine Slides. For the life of me, I cannot think of a way to consider one as a coaster. I actually did debate this with myself to justify making a special trip to ride one about an hour away from where I live. As for credit whoring, I can't deny that I am one. However, I'm not dumb enough to drive 800 miles just for a damn Wacky Worm. My rule of thumb for that would be "It's here and they'll let me on, so I might as well ride it). I don't see the harm in it if you're not doing it stupidly, like flying all the way to Whatever-istan just to credit whore. As for this... You'd better be careful, you may have a bunch of ACErs lined up at your door!

  19. I use CoasterCount to find traveling coasters, as they have been the best source I've found so far. It's also helpful for finding alpine coasters. I haven't seriously searched for many rides in either category, personally, but I probably will at some point...
  20. Xcelerator - Knott's Berry Farm
  21. There are a few dark rides out there with drops to gravity power them. I know several people who count the two at Camden Park in WV and Conneaut Lake as coasters. As Robb said, how you count is entirely up to you. Personally, I do count Alpine coasters.
  22. I wouldn't even bother with SFA unless you just want to do a credit run. The park is on a slow upswing, so I'd say try it in a few years. Maybe it'll actually be worth staying more than two hours by then. Absolutely! It's a gorgeous park with excellent customer service and a great selection of coasters. Advice on BGW: When the park opens, you'll only have England and Scotland available to you. Get your fill of Loch Ness Monster now, as it will probably have a huge line later (I've seen it have full queues on lower crowd days). As soon as the ropes drop, head right for the new coaster in Festa Italia. Hit Apollo's Chariot and Grover (if you're into the kiddie coasters) immediately after. Either take the train in Festa Italia or walk over to the Skyride in Scotland and go to France (train will let you off in New France and Skyride will let you off in Aquitaine, both are the next stops) to ride Griffon. Work counter-clockwise through New France for Alpengeist, Germany for DarKastle, Oktoberfest for Verbolten, and end in Italy for Pompeii. Other tips: -Apollo's Chariot, Alpengeist, and Verbolten are all people-eaters, so lines are typically very manageable. -Trapper's Smokehouse in New France is an excellent place to eat. However, don't follow the rule of "don't eat when everyone else does." If you don't eat there during the peak dining hours, there's a fairly high chance that you'll get lousy food. -There's a convenient shortcut that runs from Scotland to Germany, but keep in mind that it's a LOT of stairs. -Going from Germany to New France can be tricky, as the pathway is fairly obscure. At the fountain of the naked lady, there's an arch with a pathway leading to shops. That's the way to New France. -I left out Ireland because I don't believe the simulator ride is open anymore. After your first go around, you should definitely explore the area as it has charm and there are nice animal exhibits nearby. Hope this helps!
