  1. ^The 1/2 too high or low or 1/4 too high or low get's pretty unnerving to me as well after a while! "How far back to I have to delete before I can get the track level with the station?!" Personally I love the simplicity of Parkitect. It doesn't try to outdo all of the others by being too realistic. They've clearly pulled references from real rides to implement them into the game, but abstracted them to the point where they are simple shapes that we can still recognize as real rides. I'm thinking that's what threw me off of some of the others, in that maybe they were taking in too much realism in exchange for being able to simply build a park and watch it run. They've got a long way to go before it's perfect, but like I said before, it's still kinda fun to spend a couple of hours constructing a park with what's in there now. You can try like what I did with mine, and build it up the side of a mountain to get it above the height limit. The height limits for almost all of the coasters need to be raised a bit, in my opinion (especially the junior and suspended coaster).
  2. Don't forget a clipboard and/or camera, for surveying the area.
  3. You smell that? That not-so-distant smell? ... smells like... The off-season.
  4. I'm liking it as well! There's a limited selection of rides you can go through, so for now much of the game is just trying to be as creative as possible with what's offered. Other than that, the game runs quite smoothly with no major bugs. I'm very interested to see what more they can do with it. (My park is much bigger now, but I'm not near my desktop to take a better screenshot.) If you wanna hear me mindlessly drone-on for 20 minutes about my first thoughts on the game (as well as build another coaster), I made a small video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mSBy6Dw_920 Edit: Here are some better screenshots of my park. 5. Crossing my fingers I can monetarily fit an October trip to Holiday World. I would love, love, LOVE to get some Thunderbird rides in that Fall foliage!
  6. ^Now THAT type of airtime would be pretty sweet! Also, regarding the importance of dive coasters being the drops, does that make them the "dubstep" of roller coasters?
  7. While not as spectacular, I still vividly remember the discussions started in the coaster community from these photos. I have photos of the coaster before the dismantling as well, and might try a before/after photoset someday with Lightning Run.
  8. Oh, still my beating heart! Just the thought of an unbraked drop into another vertical drop makes me excited! Too bad it'd probably be WAY too intense for most of the normal coaster riding public to enjoy (as opposed to my crazy ethusiast self!) I'm no engineer, but I'd bet anything that the train itself couldn't handle a radius that small at speeds that quick either.
  9. Something like that would be completely uncalled for. What I've seen are staffers standing at the entrance waiting until a certain time/moment when they can rope off the entrance and place the sign out front notifying the ride closed early... but never come into the line and force people to turn around.
  10. Many of the coasters with the older restraints have tighter layouts, and most of the new ones with the vest restraints tend to progress gracefully and smoothly through the course. I'm indifferent on which I like better, but it heavily depends on the layout. Most of the wing riders and Banshee have moments of hang-time, and the new vests make those moments pretty comfortable. Valravn seems like it'll have a graceful zero-g roll that might have a bit of hang-time in it. Rides that don't really have those don't seem worth the vest restraints to me.
  11. Mine was #5! Thank you so very much for featuring it! And considering the lack of reply posts to this thread, let me be the one to say thank you for featuring people's works posted to YouTube! There sure are some spectacular coasters made in the simulation!
  12. It sure makes you appreciate how heavy those dive coasters can really get. And from that still of the POV looking over the first drop, I'm thinking night rides on it are going to be quite epic looking over the midway! If I'm not mistaken, you'll likely get a pretty good view of Luminosity. Thanks for sharing.
  13. I think it's the lack of a lot of elements on this ride. Don't get me wrong, I am excited to ride this ride and will probably be one of the first in line. But.......... The rides layout just seems uninspiring to me, and it lacks a lot of elements that other dive coasters have(splashdown, tunnel, ect). In my opinion, I think they could have done a better job. Could you imagine something like a splashdown near the main midway and the interaction with passer bys for example? The length of the ride seems rather short to me as well even if it is the longest. Now before you start bashing me, remember, this is just my opinion. I am sure the gp is going to eat this ride up and love it. This was the first thing that popped into my mind as well, almost like a pre-built ride in RCT chosen and plopped-down wherever it could fit. It sometimes feels like there's something missing from some of Cedar Fair's latest coasters to make it that much more memorable and not fade into the blur of other coasters offered in the park. But then I always think back to the steel shed "tunnel" that was added on to Leviathan, making me figure why they should even bother with theming in the first place. Just put a nice plaza around/under the ride, and make it photogenic enough to photograph (and please, please, PLEASE add shading to the queue). Most park go'ers probably know to expect little to no theming anyways.
  14. Greezed Lightnin' with Lightning Run....... I'm kidding. As for me, this goes before my time, but probably when the indoor Starchaser coaster at Kentucky Kingdom was replaced with a motion theater attraction. Half of the giant box that housed it now goes to the theater attraction, and the other half is the park's large gift shop/mini stage for small performances. And probably replacing Quake (Vekoma Waikiki Wave prototype that didn't flip) with a ProSlide Tornado, despite being SBNO more than it was open. Not a terrible downgrade, but I feel as though a better flat could have replaced it. Well, it could have been worse. At least the park now has a 200ft RMC. But yeah, I feel your pain!
  15. I'm not a huge fan of the vest restraints being used here, but that's just me being picky. The coaster looks great, and is only going to further compliment the park's already-extensive line of giants. I normally agree with you but I have to step in here... Millennium Force is a highly themed journey back in time to an island filled with dinosaurs. The name makes perfect sense too as they never specified which Millennium they were referring to. Everyone misses the theme because they incorrectly assume they were talking about this Millennium. Millennium Force just might rank a little higher on my list because of that description! It's perfect!
  16. Kentucky Kingdom does it. It mostly depends on the length of line, but some rides close 15 minutes, 30 minutes, or an hour prior to the park closing. I'm pretty certain it's for the exact reason adamico2 said:
  17. I second that notion. Keep it up, it looks amazing!
  18. ^ The one at Beech Bend was amazing and seeing KK get a park-model version would be icing on the cake, especially since they already have a relationship with Zamperla due to the kiddie rides and Cyclos. Something in the old spot of Top Eliminator Dragsters would work wonderfully as well, especially something that takes up only a slim strip of land (i.e. Intamin Impulse, S&S Free Spin, etc.).
  19. Announced on their latest update, posted to their Tumblr (go to the link for even more interesting info): I'm quite excited for this! ------ Update: The pre-alpha is now available to backers and those who bought it. I'll download it later tonight and play with it a bit before I post some screenshots and opinions.
  20. An RMC makeover of Legend would be incredible considering its interaction with the forest and the water park. Still, I don't know if Holiday World would ever pursue something like that considering the ride is a bit of a middle-child staple at the park among the other woodies. Sometimes people rank it as better than Voyage due to how it rides (like me on my first-ever visit to the park). Hopefully they'll find a way to keep it going strong, maybe even if it means replacing some larger chunks of it with new wood.
  21. They added the lights, when the Fair was going on and the Park stayed open til 10. i'm still trying to figure out why the lights on the Ferris wheel are not on? Someone working at the park once told me some electrical workings for the lights were fried. ----- Dropped into the Kingdom today. T3 was down for maintenance, but everything else in the dry-side of the park was running, including Mile High Falls. The window that broke was replaced with wood until they find a replacement. Considering I've seen the window on the other ride of it boarded-up before this happened, I don't think it was the first time that's happened this year either. I was surprised to experience Cyclos pulling 6 complete flips (plus some stalls) on a full-load! The operator at the time said it was likely because the seats were balanced perfectly. The free drinks were, as expected, going very fast! There were clear plastic cups that had roughly the same amount of drink the original $1 cups did. If you wanna seen the process of it, I made a small instagram video of me grabbing a drink. Regarding Storm Chaser, as others have stated, the height of the lift hill structure has definitely raised since the last time I saw it! It looks like it's gonna be a fast entry into the barrel roll for sure, very similar to Medusa. The rest of the structure around the ride was also being worked on, and plenty of Stella's side was still being removed. Got into town from college the day before I visited the park, drove around the site a little to have a look. 20 extra feet has been added to the height! A small panorama Take note of the height difference between the lift hill, and where the roll will be. Did somebody say "possible ejector?" I hit the park the day after. Riding Fear Fall first-thing when I entered, I could easily see Storm Chaser's structure on the far end of the park. It's going to look great!
  22. Excellent TR of the place. There was a lot of questions I had about the place that was answered in here! I particularly loved some of the pieces of work that were featured here, and the last Banksy piece, the crooked pic of the gluttonous fellow at the end of the table with all the food, had me admiring the longest due to not only the message depicted in the piece, but the placement and position of the piece. How it tilts towards the water making it feel like the man will fall into it. Thank you for sharing this, it looks spectacular!
  23. Yeah, the line of stories coming out of this and the new owner has been a bit depressing to see, more-so than just the whole place being abandoned in the first place. ---- Update: Sept. 9, 2015 From their Facebook Page: Outlook sounds somewhat bright for the place sometime in the future by the way they worded it... in the meantime, they also shared an eerie video shot by the Courier-Journal about the property being closed-off for safety violations.
