  1. Source Posted 54 minutes ago on Facebook with a photo as of this writing: Edit: The Courier Journal page updated with a video after one of the journalists visited the site yesterday, finding the place seemingly abandoned.
  2. I'm indifferent on either-or being better than the other. Both seem like they have different elements on equally awesome overall layouts. Joker looks to have some hard laterals thrown in, though.
  3. It's been many years since I've done one, but I think they're alright. They're a giggle-fest for kids when it comes to the ones that have the "build your own roller coaster and ride it" program, as compared to the "flight simulator" program that allows you to control (as well as stay upside down for periods of time). They're fairly comfortable. Even more so compared to the overabundance of seatbelts in the Pulseworks I-360 simulator I tried a couple years ago at the Smithsonian Museum in Washington D.C.
  4. Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom 1. Only importing hand-me-down attractions for the dry side of the park. 2. Waiting until the last two years of operations to make any attempt at improving park quality. 3. Sneaking the best roller coaster out with promise of a water park expansion a couple months before permenantly closing the entire park and leaving it to rot.
  5. Nice to see a company other than WhiteWater and Aquarena doing aqualoop slides. The park looks fantastic, and those slides look like wuite the thrill!
  6. Easier to model and can take tighter turns?
  7. Kings Island too... Vending machine in the queue of Diamondback. This was shot back in 2010, so I don't know if it has changed or not. I doubt it has, though...
  8. Excellent overview of the park, as well as the photos to compliment it. I knew it was one of the top theme parks in Europe, but never really knew about how intricate many of its attractions were, and how well-themed it is! This is definitely a park I have high on my list of ones I need to visit!
  9. Yes. All of them. And if mediocre floater airtime is your thing, then I'm sure you'll love B&M hypers. And that doesn't make me an "Intamin fanboy" either, I just happen to like rides with good strong airtime. And yes, Intamin delivers that, so does RMC, so do rides like SFOT's Shock Wave, Lightning Run, Phantom's Revenge, DoDonpa, etc.... In fact, i'd love to see some accelerometer data on Big Thunder Mountain or Space Mountain at Magic Kingdom as I feel both of those rides have stronger moments of aritime than any B&M hyper I've ridden! Well, all of you are right about the amount of forces there are on the hypers. And i never meant to say that B&M's have strong airtime like Intamin's, but that they have repeated long-lasting floater airtime hills. Mediocre in force, yes, but still quality floater time. That added with the clamshell bucket seating makes for something I personally find more comfortable. And yes, I'm a self-proclaimed B&M fanboy (that is, until I ride more Gerstlauer coasters ).
  10. The official video wasn't terrible either, but that fan made one is incredible! With a bit more post video editing, it would likely be pretty hard to tell it was made in NL2.
  11. It's only because those folks lost all feeling from the waist down. Are there really any B&M hypers with mediocre airtime?!
  12. Where are the installations of the 140' model? Beech Bend's is 140 feet, and StratosFear is apparently 148 feet though I'm not sure if they're including the decoration at the top or not. So does beach bend now have two of these rides? Remember seeing pictures of another smaller model there called shock drop (probably a 90' portable model), as well as the taller version. They got rid of Shock Drop to replace it with Zero-G.
  13. The only thing keeping folks from being able to walk between park and airport is that there aren't any legal paths directly connecting the two, otherwise it would be an incredibly easy walk. Being at the top of Deep Water Dive and seeing a Boeing commercial airliner hover downwards and land on the 17R runway is an experience.
  14. First: Storm Chaser at Kentucky Kingdom Second: Mako at SeaWorld Orlando (due to having a better chance of visiting this more than the next rides) Third: Lightning Rod at Dollywood
  15. Vertical Velocity at Six Flags Great America, or better yet any Intamin Impulse that's not Volcano at KD or Wicked Twister at CP.
  16. ^I've seen a similar method used at Kings Island where they would let the front of the early crowd into the front plaza early, then proceed with the pledge of allegiance before releasing everyone. I also think certain quick routes to certain places in the park for certain amounts of time were limited to season pass members only? Either way, they didn't have to do too much considering much of the crowds disperse on their own to opposite ends where Banshee and Diamondback are.
  17. Where are the installations of the 140' model? Beech Bend's is 140 feet, and StratosFear is apparently 148 feet though I'm not sure if they're including the decoration at the top or not.
  18. I think I'm a bit more excited about Mako than I am Valravn, though I might be biased considering I have a better chance of visiting SeaWorld than I am Cedar Point and I heavily prefer theming over just planting a coaster down. Regardless of the theming, I'm hopping on the bandwagon in agreeing about the colors! I love the shades of blue and purple, and I think it will suit the park great (as well as complement Kraken)!
  19. Maybe Deep Water Dive helped raise the height a little further in its area? I'd be all for it, especially considering that they'll now have 3 super-intense steelies. Thunder Run does fulfill that soft-thrill spot perfect for families, but another wouldn't hurt. That, or a new large flat-ride (which I bet is what they're planning).
  20. Nope, it's called "being a captive audience" and "no outside drinks allowed in the park". Or bring a water container and refill it with water for free throughout the day. But yeah, a day at the park probably would be fairly steeper in price for those only looking to visit once a year. Keep in mind, the current 2016 $59.95 price of the season pass pays itself off with just 2 visits. At $106, it takes about 3 visits.
  21. ^They might have been part of the queue rails before the coaster. Excellent! I'm assuming by this that the park is making enough money to be able to do things like this, or they're just taking chances in trying to make a good impression. I had zero complaints about $1 drinks, but I'd be even happier to now receive them free!
  22. If any of you ever wished for a night ride at Kentucky Kingdom, tomorrow through the 30th is your chance. Kentucky Kingdom will be open until 10pm throughout the entire time the State Fair is running. This is the latest the park will be open ever since the Six Flags era. I sure can't wait to see how this'll be.
  23. Adding on to my post back in 2011 (which I included in here): Kentucky Kingdom: --Greezed Lightnin' --Twisted Twins Busch Gardens Tampa --GWAZI --Python Kings Dominion --Shockwave Six Flags Magic Mountain --Colossus --Psyclone Six Flags Astroworld: --XLR8 --Viper Relocated/Revamped (and having not ridden the newer version yet): Kentucky Kingdom: --Chang --Road Runner Express Six Flags Magic Mountain --Superman: The Escape Cedar Point --Mantis
  24. Just out of assumption, but it may have separated right as the ride ran around that section? Was that one of the coaster's first laps of the day?
  25. I visited the park this past Tuesday, their last weekday until the State Fair starts on the 20th. It had decent but light crowds, with almost every ride being a walk-on or in-station wait (minus Cyclos). I arrived sort of late in the day (3pm) and still got to lap Cyclos and each major coaster once, except for T3 which I got 6 non-consecutive laps on including being on the last train of the day! The line got especially short within the last hour the park was open, which was a surprise to me. I also squeezed two rides on Deep Water Dive and one on SkyCatcher in between lapping T3, and on my way out I got the last cycle on FearFall right as the park was closing! It was a pretty good afternoon. Some bits of red Storm Chaser track was definitely sitting on the Top Elminator Dragster strip, and virtually every bit of Twisted Twins track seemed to have been removed from the track finally. I have some photos of the progress on the coaster posted to my Flickr account, and will have photos from Tuesday as well once I get home.
