  1. That's a biiiig loop! Very excited to try this out soon!
  2. Finally had a free weekend to spend in Louisville and couldn't pass-up a chance to see the park. I shot these photos earlier today. Skycatcher sitting idle some short distance off of the ground. It might not be 400+ feet, but it's still fairly tall if you ask me. I hope Cyclos is a fast-built ride if they're gonna get it ready by opening. Oh, hello there! Yes, I witnessed LR testing twice today! Warming up for next weekend's opening (and a private event this weekend). A last look at Skycatcher. The seats on these are the same as the ones on Vertigo at the KY State Fair.
  3. Marketing a coaster on a tub of ice cream in 27 states! Does this officially make Holiday World a regional destination? (If it wasn't already)
  4. Well, hopefully people caught that the season pass prices go up at midnight tonight to $109.95. That takes about three visits to pay off, not including the price of parking.
  5. I think your two best options may be going to Kroger if they still do discounted tickets, or going online and ordering from the website.
  6. Honestly, I share your irritation for people always immediately speculating big on things they're not totally sure of (not just for Holiday World, but everywhere ). It's fun to do so, sure, but you can't always fill-up pages with people pin-pointing where every park might throw in, say, a B&M wing rider as a family-owned park's first-ever major steel coaster... I imagine this gave RavenMaven a slight heart attack. Maybe, but I won't take any credit for being the first to guess! Plenty of others like woodlandmammoth mentioned it before me, I was just in denial!
  7. I landed on this post by me on page 415... Safe to say, I don't think I'll ever shoot down a wild idea for this park ever again. I still shake my head in disbelief at what the park got, and couldn't be more happy to be so wrong!
  8. The rules for photographing at Churchill Downs are almost identical to the rules Magic Mountain posted, and for good reasons. Having photographed at a similar horse racing track (Keeneland), I know that they're VERY strict about any photo equipment coming into their facilities because of how easily the horses are to spook, and because of this they're also strict on how professionals that are allowed to photograph there carry themselves when anywhere around the track and near the horses. It's understandable there, but I too think the policies on lenses at Magic Mountain are a little too absurdly specific.
  9. The coaster looks beautiful! Great to finally see a full train with screaming riders! Also this: Also great story Paula, and congrats on pushing aside your concerns and giving the coaster a go!
  10. Yeah...I'm pretty sure that's not actually a thing. In fact, I know it's not, because that's how Cedar Fair and IROC perform their audits. Ha, yeah, can also say that's not true at all. Either that ride op didn't want to have their picture taken or took the "picture taking is prohibited while on the ride" to include standing on the platform as being "on the ride." I can imagine what would of happened to that op if that person were from iROC if they told them they couldn't film them doing their job. You're pretty free to take pictures as much as you want at any of the Cedar Fair parks, as long as they're in terms of the rules, i.e. not on rides or in restricted areas. I figured the operator may have been camera shy or something, but a Dominator operator did tell me this in 2012. I haven't had the same trouble at Kings Island, but haven't done a lot of it the last time I've been there, so I was only curious...
  11. Completely off-topic question, but does anybody know the policy of photographing inside the stations of coasters? I think I've once been told in one station in Kings Dominion that I couldn't photograph how the operators do their jobs, but my intentions were only to snap a photograph of a train. So I'm wondering if this carries over to Kings Island, apart from rides that have you put your belongings in lockers before getting in line.
  12. That'll be a problem in the States when people decide to bring in sticks with long fixed lengths.
  13. LG&E provided them with Rio, so I wouldn't be surprised if they provided them with this film as well. Quoted for truth, not forgetting the fact it broke 5 world records when it opened.
  14. Come to think of it, I think there might be a whole train waiting for them to pick up in Kentucky... Greezed Lightning train?? Yeah. I haven't been by Kentucky Kingdom in a while, but I've seen lots of photos of Greezed Lightning's train sitting in broad daylight behind a fenced-in area in the park. It was reported to Screamscape that someone bought it, so it might be gone now, but it was definitely still at the park very recently.
  15. Well, you gotta have enough for the big and little ones to enjoy. Nice addition, and great that they're refreshing the theater film. Edit: So to refresh people on #KingdomEight: 1. T3 2. Cyclos 3. Sky Catcher 4. Enterprise 5. Raging River Rapids 6. Up, Up, And Away 7. Flutter Fly 8. Wizard of Oz Film in 5d Cinema
  16. Come to think of it, I think there might be a whole train waiting for them to pick up in Kentucky...
  17. I'm assuming they're not as serious as this one considering we're hearing about it. Either way, It's unfortunate to hear about something like this, and hope everyone recovers okay as well. I'll second what Larry said, too.
  18. If I had enough money to go around, I would definitely be donating! I wish the highest bidder all the luck, and am glad to see Holiday World supporting such a great charity! Also, I'd hate to impose, but would there be a way to change the webcam view of the maintenance shed left towards the barrel roll or adding a new view? Some people have been trying to get a good view of the train coming towards the brakes by shifting the camera lots. The maintenance shed. The barrel roll is offscreen 'just' out of view to the left of it.
  19. So with three weekends remaining, I'm wondering when the park will get (or has gotten) the new trains for T3 to start testing, and when assembly for the new Cyclos might happen. I'm assuming they might be bringing parts for the latter starting sometime this week or weekend if they're going to have it ready by opening. I wish I could run by the park to have a look at progress and snap some photos, but I've been kept pretty busy at my college.
  20. I absolutely love Flight of Fear. I'm not sure if I should call it a guilty pleasure if there's enough people who don't like it, but there's a lot of aspects to the ride to call it my favorite after Diamondback and Banshee.
  21. I popped in just in time to see a train fly through the Immelmann and continue the rest of the course! Looks amazing!
  22. I totally underestimated the potential for Twisted Twins becoming one long RMC coaster, and would be fully onboard with seeing something like this happening if they did. That coaster probably could have gotten rid of that barrel roll into a helix at the end of the yellow section, but the rest of the coaster looks like fun!
  23. I've mostly had cravings of launches and airtime since the start of 2015, but that may have been Thunderbird and Lightning Run beckoning me via telekinesis. Soon, you two... soon. not soon enough...
  24. Looks nice, especially the drop slides. I'm glad to see they went with the drop capsule slide instead of copying the one you showed, because the other looked weak compared to this one.
