Kingda Ka Testing
SharkTums replied to Andrew643's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Wow, that video was really awful!!!! Either the person shooting it has Parkinson's or they were filming it from like the NJ Turnpike using super xtreme zoom!!!! Don't they have to do these 'mini-launches' to kind of get everything warmed up and working before they just kick it into full gear? I thought I remembered something similar to this with TTD and Xcelerator. Elissa "and yes, the 2 seats in the back thing looks really weird!" Alvey -
Orlando Visit October November:
SharkTums replied to Ghost's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'm not sure how Disney does their payments. I'm pretty sure that they charge at least one night at the time of your booking, and then the rest once you arrive but if you are doing a package with them it might be different. Expedia will Immediately charge you and you cannot make any changes or cancellations to that booking so be a little careful with that. The way I have done Disney hotels in the past (when booking just the room only) is to go ahead and book with disney even if it is a bit more expensive, then keep looking (once a week!) for any discount codes or emails, or passholder rates. For example: I had booked the Boardwalk for 2 nights for October 04. I used the AAA rate in late August at $312/night. They have like a 14 day cancellation rate or something so I knew that I would just cancel if I couldn't get a better rate. They had already charged my card but right around labor day I got an email about special passholder savings ($200/night!) and a code. I immediately called up and asked to apply the code to my reservation, they did and I ended up just paying less once I got there (they kept the initial $312 as a deposit). I hope this makes some sense! If not, ask, and I'll try to clarify! Elissa "silly disney pricing!" Alvey -

Nice idea... We'll be in Florida over Memorial Day weekend, while I realize this is not the best time to try and all get together, I'd be willing to try and organize something if others are interested! Maybe a Typhoon Lagoon Morning followed by an Epcot Evening? Elissa "post here if you're interested in meeting in Orlando over Memorial Day weekend!" Alvey

Dorney Park Advice
SharkTums replied to Coasters 4 ever's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
http://www.coasterfanatics.com/whentoride/ Check Ted's site, see if he has anything yet about Dorney. As a rule of thumb though, don't go on a Saturday, and be sure to check for special events when you're there. Hydra and Talon are the newest rides and will most likely have the longest lines. Elissa "I say go to the waterpark instead!" Alvey -
In other news... We still have no lesbians... Elissa "half tempted to create a new name just so I can vote as a lesbian!!!" Alvey

Long Story Short...we held game night today at 10am Pacific time to try and accomodate some of our European posters...here are the results!!! And finally...bling bling anyone!? This baseball player is holding an exclamation point! This is a really kick ass 'pause'. I mean it's even color coded! I don't know how Wes guessed that was a banjo...I see some sort of Tractor Beam. Wes, what was this? My guess...Ninja Turtle Wearing Ear Muffs! Vericose Veins??? I mean I know those are scary, but I don't think blood is black! Come on! How could you guys not guess FLYING SAUCER!!! I thought that was pretty good.

I highly recommend the awesome SANDUSKY MALL!!!! If you want a killer flashback to the 1970's or want to feel like you're in some low budget horror movie, go here!!! Elissa "does it even count as a 'mall'?" Alvey

SharkTums replied to CoasterExpert13's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
KENNYWOOD Phantom's Revenge: B (nice, but too short) Exterminator: F (mean to rodents) Thunder Bolt: C (don't like the laterals) Jack Rabbit: A (can you say ejector air???) Racers: B (a fun ride, if you get people to handslap!) DORNEY PARK Talon: C (for a B&M, I don't like it) Steel Force: C (good first drop, nothing else good) Thunder Hawk: C (again, that damn brake!) Laser: A (really intense and fun, but stupid assigned seating!) Wild Mouse: D (pretty bad) HERSHEY PARK Storm Runner: A (my favorite intamin launched so far) Great Bear: C (another bad B&M) Roller Soaker: A (I love this ride!) Comet: C (don't see any good points, at least it's smooth) Sooperdooperlooper: F (if it's so sooper dooper, how come there's only one loop!!! and it's short) Lightning Racer: C (don't get the hype, this ride does nothing for me) Wildcat: D (rough and boring) Trailblazer: D (bad and short mine train) Wild Mouse: C (after it being so hyped to me, it's always had brakes on!) Elissa "Knoebels is better than all of these parks!" Alvey -
Possible Game Night Tonight?
SharkTums replied to Token Yankee Guy's topic in Random, Random, Random
We figured we would do it around Noon California time, so that even our German people could still join in...not sure what our plans are for Sunday yet though, but we'll post something if we do it! Elissa "stupid time zones" Alvey -

Possible Game Night Tonight?
SharkTums replied to Token Yankee Guy's topic in Random, Random, Random
I'd like to but I'm going to one of my co-workers daughters talent shows tonight I doubt I'll be out until 8:30, 9ish California time..that would be kind of late. Go ahead and organize one on your own though! Elissa "maybe we'll try to do one on Sunday that would be a good time for our European posters!" Alvey -
Sorry to hijack your thread Gregg!!! RatTums is getting medicine, but the vet wasn't very optomistic..ok, now back to good stuff!!!! I got my hair cut and it looks great! Elissa "and robb was home before 10:30!" Alvey

The Official Amazing Race Thread!
SharkTums replied to Meteornotes's topic in Random, Random, Random
I really hope they pull of this "family" thing...I have my doubts. Kids on show's like these seem to mess everything up! We were actually going to apply as a "blended family". My parents, Robb, and I...I think that would have been an awesome team, but they are filming while we're in Europe, heck maybe we'll see them! Elissa "it will be interesting how many 'kids' they allow" Alvey -
Sorry, can't think of anything... hamster's dying trips are being delayed and cancelled work is work now I'm hungry Elissa "Miss Positive!" Alvey
