  1. Maverick is a back seat ride, though the front is still good. Why didn't you ride in the back? I'm not really sure... maybe it was just becuase my whole group was waiting for front and I didn't feel like waiting at the exit? Haha, I'm not really sure. Well anyhow, I enjoyed it a lot in the front so now I can't wait till next summer to ride in the back!
  2. I got to ride Maverick for my first time on the July 24 during the hotel special hours? I was there with camp and I rode front row. I really didn't enjoy it that much the first time since it hurt my neck. The next day I sprinted with one of my camp friends and we got on the 13rd ride of the day becuase we stopped sprinting for about 10 seconds to catch our breathe. We went front row again that day but for some reason I enjoyed the ride an incredibly large amount more this ride... I don't know why! I just did and it took my #1 coaster. Maverick is an amazing ride IMO. -coastakid
  3. I was at Geauga Lake that night too! I went with my camp (Thrill Coaster Tours) and we arrived at around 6:30 and stayed until closing. I got all the credits which I thought were all very good
  4. Nice PTR! Just wondering but what store was that "This Shirt is Black Not" shirt at? I really want it!
  5. ^ The airtime I've experienced on the KMG Afterburners has been very intense... I really also enjoy well run Huss Top Spins and Huss Frisbees -Coastakid
  6. Nice Photo TR! It was great to be reminded of how amazing my trip was back in December! My brother and his girlfriend were in the Backlot Tour show and my brother got "pawned" by the water and his girlfriend was the captian of the ship. It was actually incredibly funny to watch . Haha, glad you had a great time... -coasterkid
  7. ^ I am thinking the complete opposite to what you say. I have never been on Top Thrill Dragster, yet I have been on Kingda Ka and feel against what you said. Riding front row is a rush and is absolutely incredible. If you are really scared, i'd say don't ride since all the rows are in your case, "scary", yet front row is just "more fun". But if you are to pushing yourself... go front row and don't chicken out for your first time because after the ride is over you will be proud of yourself and want to go again. Just some of my thoughts, -coastakid
  8. My favorite small park is my home park, Lake Compounce. The park has an old classic wooden coaster, Wildcat, and of course, the incredible Boulder Dash. The park has a Vekoma Boomerang, Zoomerang, which I have heard, and agreed is the smoothest Vekoma Boomerang. The Lake also has an S&S Power Screamin' Swing, Thunder N' Lightning which is incredibly fun . Uhh, we also have a great little water park with a swimming lake, some nice slides, a log flume, a great rapids ride, a skyride which goes im pretty positive 1,132ft up a mountain, as well as many other great flats! Lake Compounce is officially amazing. -Coastakid
  9. The hotel is decent. The pool is nice and the rooms are nice. I didn't like the shower although... the employees are teenagers and some were rude. The complimentary breakfast had a great variety of food though! The hotel is around 30 minutes from the park. I had a flash pass on the 2nd day. if you don'y go on a weekend, you will be able to get on all the coasters weather permitting (Kingda Ka and El Toro). Batman: The Chiller isn't open and the opening date is unknown at this time.
  10. Well here it goes - 5/26/07 Finally, after waiting around two weeks, it was the day. I grabbed my bags and headed out to the red car waiting for me. My friend,Ryan, his brother, and their dad were taking me to Six Flags Great Adventure for two days for the first time in around a month. We left my house around 11:30am and arrived at our hotel (Best Western, Bordentown Inn) at around 3:30pm. We took a quick half an hour swim before unpacking. We headed to the park at around 5:15pm greated by a great view of a half empty parking lot and the Great American Scream Machine speeding through its course. Omgkingdaka's dad dropped all of us off at the drop-off point and quickly sped away as we boarded the tram. The parking lot was suprisingly empty. As we arrived at the front gate we got out season passes out and went through security. We were in! We all headed for El Toro. Omgkingdaka's brother was very nervous about El Toro since he is just starting to get into 'big" roller coasters. The attendant at the entrace to El Toro said the line was around 45 minutes. He was wrong... The line was stretching all the way back to the 60 minute mark sign. Although it was, we sped through the line in around 15 minutes. Great job El Toro crew! Once we got into the station, we waited around 2 trains for back row. It was Omgkingda's brother and I in the back row, with Omgkingdaka right infront of us. What a blast. Incredible airtime as usual, but i got hit in the face with sand on the first drop? Well, that was the only let down. The ride was a blast! 9/10 because of the stupid dust or sand err...whatever it was. After El Toro, we all headed towards Medusa. The line was only in the station so we decided that the front would be the best choice. I never remembered Medusa being this much fun! I enjoyed it almost too much... The cobra roll whipped my head maybe once, but it was still a lot of fun. 7/10 Since we were all hungry, our plan was to eat at Best of The West, then head onto the Log Flume to cool down since we incredibly hot. We all had the chicken strips which were pretty decent. We sat on the patio close to the Log Flume so that as we ate, we could watch the histericle reactions of parents, bringing young children on the ride. As we were almost done, we realized that the Log Flume had stopped going, and that El Toro had not run in a while. We threw our platters out and started for the Boardwalk. As we were going, we heard the dissapointing announcement that many of the park's rides were going to be closed due to oncoming weather. We spent around 30 minutes playing games in one of the arcade until the rides started operating again. We agreed to all go on Nitro. We walked all the way across the park to it. Since we were there and the line wasn't long, we waited for front row. The ride operators weren't doing an "amazing" job, but dispatches were decent. We waited around 20 minutes total for front row. As we crested the first airtime hill, we began getting pelted with little rain drops. The rain drops continued till around the MCBR where they went away. There wasn't much airtime, although the ride was very fast and fun. A great ride overall. 7/10 After Nitro, Ryan's brother comes up with the brilliant idea to go on the Congo Rapids. There was no wait, and we got paired up with some crazy little kids, and some teenage girls. As we were heading out of the station the first thing out of one of the girl's mouths was..."This water smells like butt." I totally agreed with her and laughed at it. I got decently wet. My pants were soaking, and my shirt was sticking to me, but nothing unbarable. 5/10 On the way over to the other side of the park, we stopped at Batman: The Ride. We walked directly onto the 3rd row from the back. It was now around 9pm. The ride was the closest thing to being in a blender. It was incredibly disorienting, although smooth. We all had headaches after. 8/10 becuase it was totally insane.] We decided to walk over to Superman: Ultimate Flight although the line was around 45 minutes, so we decided to skip it. Ryan and I headed for Kingda Ka even though his brother chickened out. The line wasn't long at all to get into the station. We waited around 10 minutes before actually going in the station. It was going to be my first time departing from the left side of the station. We qued up for the front of schoolbus. Then something happened.... Blueberry Muffin launched just like normal, but orange wouldn't move up to go into launching position. Blueberry was now on our side of the station with orange right infront sice they pulled it back into the station. They just loaded guests again like nothing had happened. After around two rides, it was Ryan's first time in the front row. This was my 4th time front row so of course, I wasn't as nervous as him. We pulled out of the station watching orange launch infront of us. Ryan's brother laughed at us as we were sitting, soon to be moved up into launching position. It was around 10:30 now and pitch black. The train infront of us cleared the tower, but we never moved. After around 5 minutes of sitting, they made an announcement that they had to reset something or other. We moved BACKWARDS back into the front, left part of the station. With the ride operators rechecking our bars, they let the right side go. I did not think this was fair at all. Our bars were checked, "All Clear!". We pulled out to the launch track, stopped shortly as the breaks dropped infront of us and we rolled back a few inches. We zoomed off faster than I remembered before smashing through a cloud of water at the end of the launch track, which stung quite a bit. Up and over the tower we went, and hten over the camel hump were we got more airtime than my previous rides. The ride was a blast. I absoulutely loved it (and so did ryan). 10/10 becuase it was the most fun I had all that day. We headed out of the park an caught the tram to bring us back to the pick-up spot. May 26th was so far my best GADV trip EVER! When we got back to the hotel, I took a shower and went to sleep to prepare me for what lied ahead the next day. 5/26 El Toro - 1 Medusa - 1 Nitro - 1 Congo River Rapids - 1 Batman: The Ride - 1 Kingda Ka (Front Row) - 1 Overall - 6 5/27/07 We all woke up early so that we could take showers and get breakfast before leaving for the park. I had a waffle, cereal, orange juice, and yogurt for breakfast. It was yummy (: We left for the park around 10:15am. As we approached the exit, we were greated by a line of cars extending around a mile down the highway. We just got in line and waited. We didn't get into the park till around 11:15am. Once we got into the park, it really did not seem that crowded. We got a flashpass anyways. It was Ryan (omgkingdaka) his brother, his dad, and I. We headed straight for El Toro. We scanned it and went towards Rolling Thunder since it was right there. When we were in the station, I called Kingdakalover (Ally) and her friends, Christine and Kira (sp?). They went on the right side. I rode with Ryan front row, on the right side. The ride was fairly smooth and we all enjoyed it. Ryan's Brother and dad went right behind us. They also liked it. Ally's "possy" and us switched sides since there was no wait and raced. It was the best ride I have ever had on Rolling Thunder. Christine and I were screaming at eachother on the way up the lift (: Both rides 7/10 After that, it was time for us to go on El Toro. While waiting, El Toro got stuck before the lift. they did a test run when... it got stuck again. They tested it a few more times, and we were on. It was Ryan's brother and I in the back row again with Ryan just infront of us. The ride was the same as before, except I did not get nailed in the face with sand! 10/10 becuase El Toro owns. After that, we headed towards Medusa again, this time with Ryan's Dad. We got 2nd row. They were running 3 trains. It was walk on. The ride was smooth and all, but it was just a normal Medusa ride, nothing special... 7/10 ehh After Medusa, we scanned the Log Flume since it looked as if the line was humungous. We scanned it, and it gave us a 1 minute wait! We just went up to the "Enter Here" sign, and walked on. The Log Flume was long, and very enjoyable. We got nailed by 3 cannons and were soaking. 8/10 becuase it was a great way to cool off with zero wait. Ryan's Dad wanted to go on the Runaway Mine Train, so we decided to wait. It was the longest wait of the day approaching 30 minutes. The ride was not worth it at all! Although we got front row, it was incredibly jerky and not enjoyable. Never again! 2/10 We decided to walk over to Kingda Ka for Ryan's and my sake. It gave us a two hour wait, while the line was only a little under an hour. We walked over to Papa Johns for some lunch. We all had the chicken tenders. I loved them, and found the fries to be very good! After lunch, we decided waiting for the Kingda Ka reservation was ridiculous. We cancelled the reservation and I called Ally and her friends to see if they wanted to come wait on line for Kingda Ka with Ryan and I. They agreed and we waited around 45 minutes. While on line, Dj Scott handed out water, which I thought was very kind We all got water since we were all very hot and continued waiting. When we got near the lockers, Christine ripped her cup and screamed, "MY WATER BROKE!" I found that very funny and we joked around about it the whole rest of the time we were in line. Christine, Ryan, and I all waited for front row of blueberry while kingdakalover and Kira went 2nd row before us. After Ryan and Chrisitine were strapped in, someone bled on the train infront, so there was a 10 minute delay. They went on and Christine absolutely loved it! I was next and I sat with someone I didn't know. The ride was great and I enjoyed it a alot, but not as much as the first ride the day before. 9/10 After that, Ryan and I met up with his brother. Ryan and I scanned Batman so that after Nitro, we would be able to just walk right on Batman. We got front row on Nitro with some crazy guy. He kept exclaiming "THIS IS MY WHIP", and made us fake shoot all the people in line. Although it was very odd, it was a lot of fun! It was not very intense, but it was sure fun! 8/10! After getting off Nitro, Ryan and I had to sprint to Batman: The Ride since our flashpass only had one minute left to get to the ride. We got the 2nd to last row. The ride was incredibly intense, but rough. I did not enjoy it very much and it gave me a headache. 5/10 We went to scan Nitro again and realized that our flashpass was beeping becuase it had run outr of power. We got it scanned although the battery just made it. Ryan's brother and I ran to the flashpass building and got a new charged one and headed to scan El Toro again. We scanned El Toro and headed back to Nitro. We got back row this time. It was dark now. The ride was very intense and we got a lot of airtime. Nothing comparable to El Toro, but very good airtime for Nitro. The bunny hills at the end were a lot of fun and produced the most airtime I have ever experienced on Nitro. Nitro was incredible 10/10! the only downside is that now, I had a severe stomach ache. After this, we did the dumbest thing ever. We decided to take two rides on the Movietown Water Effect. There was no line at all. After our 2nd ride, we got off and Ryan and I stood on the bridge for two soakings. After this, it was uncomfortable to even walk and I still had a stomach ache. 8/10 becuase we're dumb and it was fun. Our El Toro reservation was coming up, so we headed over to the other side of the park. We walked right into the station. I could see lightning lighting up the sky, although nobody did anything. We walked on a middle row of El Toro and we were off. The middle is no where near as intense as the back. I enjoyed it, but it wasn't very intense and luckily my stomach ache was gone...for now 7/10 We decided to eat at La Cocina. I loved it! I got the Steak Fajitas and loved every bit of them. The wind was picking up.... a lot. All the coasters and outdoor rides were closed. We finished eating and sat under an awning near Rolling Thunder for around 10 minutes before treking to Spongebob. There was no-one there. There was maybe 10 other people in the stadium. the ride was very entertaining. We were going to go on again, but we decided to run to Skull Mountain to see if it was open. It wasn't. Spongbob - 7/10 On the way out at around 10:45, we saw the Music Express running. We caught 3 consecutive rides on it. They were the best Music Express rides ever! The first ride we sat in our own cars and had the whole ride to ourselves. The 2nd and 3rd rides we sat together and smooshed Ryan. There was a new couple on the ride and we screamed the entire ride. It was amazing. After that, we took 3 quick spins on the Autobahn before it started downpouring! The wind was incredible. We sprinted out of the park and caught a bus that brought us near our car. May 27th is officially the best Six Flags Great Adventure day EVER! 5/27 El Toro - 2 Kingda Ka - 1 Medusa - 3 Nitro - 2 Batman: The Ride - 1 Music Express - 3 Autobahn - 3 Movie Town Water Effect - 2 Rolling Thunder (right) - 1 Rolling Thunder (left) - 1 Runaway Mine Train - 1 Overall - 20 Bus Ride, Slow Shudder Speed Bus Ride, Boardwalk and stuff Kingda Ka Sorry for the bad quality, GADV 5/26 - 5/27 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3kN8IxWJHY4 Comments Welcomed!
  11. When I road the Georgia Scorcher at SFOG, I by accident ended up a good 3 inches off the ground (first ever foot dangling stand-up ).
  12. ^ They did get extra padding. http://www.rcdb.com/ig3454.htm?picture=9 You can clearly see in the picture that in the middle of restraints where the seat belt connects that there is a "lump" of padding.
  13. Is the Star Trooper new this year to Enka, since the local carnival near me (run by Stewart Amusements) was missing theirs It was fun and usually had a big line at the fairs near me. Anyhow, nice PTR and it looks like a pretty decent fair.
  14. ^^^^ Some work is taking place currently... the track is sitting to the right of the crane, or is attached to the crane right now! Maverick's track is being taken out and replaced
  15. NOOOO This recreation was amazing (in my standards anyways...)
  16. I caught Maverick testing on the webcam like many other people. It doesn't make sense to me why there testing it, while there going to replace track... I have a feeling there going to open it and see if people like it, and if they don't close it. Probally not, just a speculation! Maverick testing again, two trains!
  17. Has anyone realized that the SLC is a modified one? The layout is somewhat different than a standard SLC. Nice pictures any how...
  18. I went to Six Flags Great Adventure this past Saturday and waited only around 10 minutes for the back row of El Toro (HEAD FOR BACK ROW to the extreme!). Kingda Ka's line was only around 10 minutes also and it was a perfect day outside. Surprisingly, Nitro had the longest wait all day topping 30 minutes at some points of the day. Robin: The Chiller was around 15 minutes since it can run only one train... I'd say if you are only going for one day, get the gold flash pass because if there are any crowds, it will make your day 100% better.
  19. 1. El Toro 2. Kingda Ka 3. Superman: Ride of Steel (SFNE) 4. Nitro 5. Medusa (GADV) 6. Incredible Hulk 7. Dueling Dragons 8. Coney Island Cyclone 9. Batman: The Ride 10. Boulder Dash that was easy (:
  20. I arrived at the park at around 1:30 to see a relatively empty lot. I called Michelle (Kingdakaroxmysox from GADVsource's friend) to see where everyone was. I also called Kingdakalover4 (from GADVsource AKA Ally) and she said she would be waiting at the fountain for me with her friend Becca. I passed through the gates and quickly ran over to them. We started talking when Michelle came charging from the left screaming! We all headed for the Teacups and got on board. It was Becca Kingdakalover4 and I, and and then Kingdakaroxmysox his friend Sydney and Snowsurfer. Kingdakalover4, Becca and I got bored of spinning after about an minute and just let it spin us since that seemed to work better and sat there screaming for no apparent reason. When we go off, Kingdakalover4, Becca and I headed over the Kingda Ka by ourselves and left the rest of the group behind. We arrived to see the line barely extending passed the lockers. My dad bought all of us a locker to load our stuff into, and we headed up the ramp to the station. We all handed our ticket to the security guard when my dad realized and exclaimed, "I left my ticket in the locker!". The guard let my dad pass any how. Kingdakalover4 and I waited for the front row, while Becca and my Dad waited for the 2nd. There were about 3 couples in front of Ally and I, so Becca and my dad had to let a few groups go in front of them. The ride was incredible and it was the best ride I had had on Kingda Ka ever, so far... The launch was an intense one tug launch and we got quite a bit of ejector airtime going over the top hat. We were going to get our on ride picture but the photo booth was closed. Michelle then called me again to see what we were up to and to see where we were going, but we weren't sure. We ended up going on the Great American Scream Machine. I had 2nd row and Kingdakalover4 and Becca had front row. The ride wasn't as bumpy as I remembered, but it was still pretty bad. I figured out a trick so that your head doesn't get bashed around too much. I wouldn't go on if there was a wait though...We got a walk-on. Next up was Superman: Ultimate Flight. As we were walking through the line there was a little booth that sold food. Of course Becca started flipping out because she was starving, but we dragged her into the station. We got in line for the back row with one group in front of us. The pretzel loop seemed more intense than usual and created some incredible g-forces. We were going to get a re-ride when Becca started completely freaking out, and made us run through the Superman: Ultimate Flight line again just to get food and she was screaming, "NACHOS, NACHOS, NACHOS" the whole time we were running. After that, we headed over toward Chiller for all of our first ride with the new humps. On the way we stopped so that Becca could play some bowling game which she lost. We then waited around 15 minutes for the last row of Robin: The Chiller. We saw Kingdakaroxmysox and Michelle waiting for front row. Since we couldn't figure out a good seating arrangement so that we could all be on the same train, Becca went first by herself, then Ally and I went. As soon as we sat down, we started singing "My Humps and sang it throughout the whole ride. The new humps didn't really do anything for me and they weren't sudden or jerky movements at all. We go on line for Nitro to find the line extending half way to the switchbacks with one train running so of course we got out of line. We headed toward Skull Mountain and walked into the station to find 2 people waiting for the front row. We headed for the back. After that pretty pointless ride of random screaming and punching each other, we went again, and again, and again, and again for a total of five consecutive rides without ever leaving the station. Those rides were the best I had ever on Skull Mountain. After those rides, we danced around Wiggles World for around 5 minutes, then headed for El Toro. At the entrance of El Toro a security guard was standing there. We asked around how long the wait would be. As we were walking through the que, the ride op controlling the amount of people in the station let another group in as we were going through the line so we were in the next 10 people to enter the station. We headed straight for the back and were on within 3 rides. The ejector airtime caught me by surprise and i couldn't breath for a second. It felt as if I was falling out and i had to close my eyes for just a split second because I thought I was going to crash into the cross over beneath us. It was filled with more airtime than previous rides and was totally hauling through the course. Best El Toro ride to date. On the way out of Plaza Del Carnival, we met up with Kingdakalover4's dad so that she could get some more money for our proposed Dare Devil Dive ride later. We were going to head to Kingda Ka when Becca decided she was hungry yet again. She wanted the chicken fingers from Papa John's so we just had to stop. My dad left the three of us earlier that day since he was tired from walking around and had my wallet, as well as my camera, so I had no money. I ate Becca's french fries as well as some of Kingdakalover4's. They were actually good and didn't taste cheap. We then went to Medusa to find the station completely empty. I ran to the front row where no one was waiting but since I ran, Becca and Kingdakalover4 were behind. Two more people got on line behind me. Becca came running and hit her leg hard so she just sat down in the station on the floor and screamed for like 10 seconds. Kingdakalover4 came in right behind laughing at her. Since Becca came first, her and I enjoyed a front row ride with Kingdakalover4 right behind in the 2nd row. This was my first front row Medusa ride and I loved it. We then got a re-ride in the 4th row since there was no one waiting for that particular row. That ride wasn't as good as the first ride and a little shaky, but still a lot of fun. Now, there were people waiting for every row, so we headed out from the station. We then headed toward Kingda Ka. Kingda Ka's line was a little shorter than before which was great. We were in the first group to get sent to the station, but we needed a locker, so many people got sent in front of us. We needed to put our money together because we were broke, and Kingdakalover4 was saving her money for later since that was all she had. We put out stuff in the locker then headed up for the station and handed our tickets to the security guard. We headed toward the back of the station where GAK (green) was and I got in line for the front row with Becca. Kingdakalover4 went for second row. She actually got a second ride since we had around 5 couples in front of us. So, she went once, then got on line again and got in line for second row so that she could be on the same train as us. When she came back, there was a 5 minute breakdown since something didn't respond and they had to reset the system. They didn't even have to do a test launch. They just re-checked the restraints and they were off. They came back to the station and we boarded for the 2nd time that day. It was now around 8:10 and we were so excited. We chatted with the maintenance manager before we dispatched. On the way out I slapped his hand and I was pumped. my first night, front row ride. The Blueberry Muffin (navy) train launched in front of us. I saw Becca's mouth dropped. She was scared and excited. I was pumped and felt the adrenaline pumping through my body. We crawled up into launching position. The catch car clicked into position. We waited for around a minute before the brakes dropped and we rolled back few inches. I heard the hiss of the air releasing right before we took off. The ride was incredible! The launch seemed more intense and the flash of the on-ride photo blinded me for a second. We flew over the top hat creating incredible airtime that pinned me to the top of the restraint. We flew back down the top hat and over the camel hump which a also created some more intense airtime. Then the ride came to a stop. It was over. We came off laughing and Becca was in awe. She was talking about it as we headed toward the exit gate where Kingdakalover4 and Becca met up with there parents and sister and her friend. They left just at around 8:30 which was when my Dad came back into the park to meet up with me. We headed over toward Nitro. Nitro's line was now only in the station, but they were only still running one train. Since it was the last ride of the night, I decided to wait for the front row. It would be my first front row ride on Nitro also. I chatted with an off duty ride op. who was also waiting for the front. We were talking about Chiller and such and before we knew it we were on board. I got the right corner (closest to operator booth) and put my shoes as well as my cell phone on the other side. The ride op. next to me was wearing short sleeves and shorts. Not very smart. Going up the lift hill he was already freezing. He was screaming the whole entire ride trying to keep warm. I actually prefer the front to the back now. I feel it is more intense and you get such a better experience for the actual speed of this ride. Nitro was a very good ending to the night. Notes The park seemed very clean The ride ops. were doing a decent job and very good on some rides Nitro ran one train for the most part Kingda Ka was running the right side of the station and Gak and Blueberry Muffin Wiggles World is pretty cool Chiller isn't anywhere near as it good as it used to be Space shuttle was running Great American Scream Machine was running the blue and red trains Coldstone is VERY expensive The sign at the entrance to Plaza Del Carnival that says La CUCINA still hasn't been fixed
  21. Well on that one, the last nine feet fell off and Holiday Park didn't think this was a problem... Just kidding, I'm really not sure why that is.
  22. How tall is 1.4 meters in inches? (I'm not sure of the conversion between metric and customary)
  23. This park is absolutely stunning...Great Job! (P.S the supports on the new B&M Hyper are not connected to the track on the lift...)
