Hubba hubba... I'm curious about the onride audio. Will we get a Disney-type experience with original audio, or a Six Flags style hellish nightmare mix of random sounds? -

I stand corrected. At least they advertise ticket prices correctly so you don't get surprised when purchasing. -
You are correct about the loyalty of the fans. The issue, however, comes with the size of that fanbase. When you see a huge base of support online, you're still seeing an extremely small percentage of the public. You could have all of the entertainment sites in the world clamoring for a sequel. Hell, you might even fool the studio into making it. You know what happens then? Everyone that wanted it goes to see it and the film still only makes $8 million when it opens. Unless they make the movie on a shoestring budget, no studio would ever willingly finance that.

Arabian Nights Closes on January 1st
KBrylczyk replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Well, when you look at the big picture, you can see how this was coming sooner or later. Disney, Universal, and SeaWorld seem to jack their ticket prices at least yearly now. When you have a family on a middle-class income, nowadays you're lucky if you can afford the multi-day tickets needed to see the parks. Add on top of that the airfare and hotel rates and people are much more likely to either dine in the parks with one of the numerous deals offered or just go to McDonald's. It is a shame to see it close, but I'm honestly surprised that Arabian Nights or any of the Medieval Times locations have survived this long. -
Hollywood is weird like that. They don't focus on the stars, they focus on the franchise. I have no clue about the box office receipts from the first two Bill & Ted movies, but the fact that they're cult hits means nothing to Hollywood. They could have the dream cast of all A-list actors in the movie. If the suits don't think the name on the franchise will bring money, it won't get made. Edit - Look at Kevin Smith's latest movies (Red State and Tusk (due next year)). He moved away from the Hollywood machine and began self-funding his movies to make what he wants. Please note, not crowdfunded like Kickstarter or something. He spent his own money to make the movies he wanted to make and had complete oversight of every aspect. He didn't have to bend to a studio's will. After filming and editing he toured the movies around, again entirely self-funded. Red State was made for approximately $5 million and has made back a TON of money (in comparison) that Kevin Smith then distributed to the cast and crew. It is the only solution to get around the studio bullcrap that is everywhere nowadays. Also, I just want to add that Red State was an excellent film and I can't wait to see what insanity Tusk brings to the table.

TR: Thanksgiving in New York City 2013!
KBrylczyk replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Having grown up an hour from NY, it was nice to see these pics. I haven't been since last summer and now I live across the country, so memories are always fun. Now if you were to go outside of Manhattan, we might have a completely different report here, haha! -
Alright guys, I'm hoping on seasoned veterans' expertise here. I'm aware that the first two weeks of December tend to be lighter in crowd volume since it immediately follows the school Thanksgiving break and precedes the Christmas / New Year break. How light are we talking? I've got three days off in a row in the second week of December. The 9th, 10th, and 11th, to be precise (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday). I really want to make a trip out there to see the parks decorated for the holidays but I am also not going to be a happy camper if I pay the money and have to wait two hours to ride Dumbo. I googled a crowd calendar and it claims the park is "alright" those days, the real busy days being the following week (16th, 17th, etc) through the new year. Would it be a suicide mission if we (roomie and I) go in two weeks?

Alex Winter and Keanu Reeves have been talking about a third film for the past few years now. Nothing has ever been confirmed or cancelled and both of them always mention how much they love the characters and would do a third film at a moment's notice, regardless of paycheck. I really hope they get someone to fund it! Also, I had NO idea that next year was the 25th anniversary. I can't wait to see what the parks do for the Halloween show!
