  1. As long as I can remember CAnada's Wonderland has a strict no camera policy. In fact I've seen them stop trains in the middle of dispatch if they see you holding one. This happened during my last trip a couple weeks ago when I was on Wild Beast. They stopped the train when it was half way out of the station to tell someone to put their camera away.
  2. Even ignoring all the obvious reasons why this ride most likely won't be built at all ... But let alone that even if it was true it would never happen for 2006. If said ride was planned for 2006 construction would have started long ago. Seems like Cedar Point is always a source of the stupidest rumours that people can come up with. Wasn't Wicked Twiser supposed to be 400-500 feet?
  3. You mean the Rideworld West Coast Bash? There's been talk of it, however nothing is actually set in place yet. Probably won't be anything official until closer to Solace I'd imagine.
  4. I think I underestimate sometimes how much PCW has been devloped over the years. Some of those pictures look like park icons in a grassy field. Just looks like nothing around. No buidings, no rides, little to know landscaping.
  5. Because the 3rd drop has ejector air so violent you have to experience it for yourself. It seriously feels like you're going to get torn out of the car. The video really doesn't do it justice. And they do enforce that rule. There was a couple ladies that tried to bring their 10 year old daughter in that seat. The ride op grabbed the lap bar as it was half way down and told them to get out.
  6. But you'd pretty much have to be rich to get loands/donations,etc. You've got to have some sort of backing to prove that you're not going to run with their money. People won't just fork over thousands of dollars to some guy who thinks he can build an amusement park because of his RCT experience. No offense to the original poster, but this isn't a dream you should really be depending on. Because it is very unlikely you are going to be able to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars.
  7. As long as you have nice weather Dragster should run fine. When it's nice out it tends to run really good. However if it gets rainy, windy, cold(unlikely in July) then it will start to have problems. That's partly why you should get to it early. Never know when the weather at Cedar Point will worsen enough to shut it down. High winds especially can put it down. Rain of any kind will shut the ride down as well.
  8. That park was definetly ghetto. I stopped on my way home a couple weeks ago. The looping star was just as ghetto. It's kind of nerve rattling when you go to get on a coaster and the ride op specifies which seats have working restraints(only a handfull). I didn't get the mouse credit though(it wasn't yet open when I was there). Though I'm kind of curious what the GCI is that they are getting. From the layout of the footers it doesn't look too big. It could very well be a family model, and not a super intense one. But it was a bit hard to tell from the few looks I got.
  9. Yeah, sounds about right. PCW is a very average park. It's not a bad park, in fact it's run pretty good. It's just that it lacks any "wow" factor.

^ But how expensive are they? I know there is a underwater case I could get for my Canon A85 digital camera. But I checked into it and it turned out the case was just as expensive as the camera itself.
  11. Sorry if this has been asked before. But how long will voting be going on for? I've been prettyout of it since coming back from my trip across the Midwest. Not sure when I'll get the time to fill out a ballot. My video sure doesn't size up against some of the others. But I'm really looking forward to what I can do next year. Got some great footage during this trip last week.
  12. Reminds me of that one video they always play on "when animals attack". The one where a circus elephant snaps, kills the trainer, and then rampages around the city before getting taking down by cops with shotguns. But the funny thing about that video was the guy running to close the chain link fence before the elephant gets there. Because I'm really sure the elephant was going through that fence wether it was closed or open.
  13. Nice pics. I might get a chance to get to MFI this year. I drove by it last year on the way to SFDL. I'm not really that far away afterall. Plus I'm a bit of a credit whore.
  14. Awesome TR. I really didn't have the patience to follow the E3 coverage, just way too much of it. I got the quick and painless version here. That Coleco brings back some memories. That was my first video game system(we had that and an Adam, nothing like playing Buck Rogers on a cassete tape). Actually I can even remember playing mouse trap I beleive it was while the drunks across the street were stabbing people or some other mayhem. The cops came over to see if I had heard something. I just shrugged and said I was playing video games all night. 8)
  15. That pretty much is how big it is. At the peak of the swing it's about 140 feet in the air. It's an awesome ride. Just as good as Delerium.
  16. Another great batch of videos. Viewing these really helps show what makes a good coaster video. Helps me learn what to do with my videos, and what I should be trying.
  17. So I headed down to Cedar Point with my brother and sister-in-law. Typically every year I take advantage of the Canadian May long weekend being a week before the US's. This way I've got a holiday that I can use to travel, and the crowds aren't too busy. We got the Breakers Express package which is dirt cheap at this time of the year. $170 for 2 nights stay, 2 one day passes, 2 starlight passes, and parking included. Saturday evening was really good. Was nice and warm, and the crowds weren't too bad. lines averaged about 45 minutes to an hour and a bit. Not bad for a saturday. We managed to ride most of the major rides Sat night, including Millenium Force and Dragster. Dragster seemed to be running really good all day. Sunday was pretty good. Though later in the afternoon it started to rain pretty good which pretty much ended the day. Dragster didn't really run after that due to the weather. Though it did launch once in the rain which was odd. I was standing over near Dragster hiding under some shelter trying to stay dry. At this point it was raining pretty hard. Then all of a sudden I hear the roar, and an empty dragster train comes flying past, and then obviously rolls back. I was kind of confused as to why they would launch an empty train while it was raining so hard. However I have one huge pet peeve abour Cedar Point, which i hadn't really been affected by before. This is Cedar Points no loose article policy. I figured I'd bring in my backpack so that I could carry around my camcorder and digital camera. Turns out that they won't let you into line with a backback or loose items for any of the major rides. I always knew that was the case with MF/TTD, but not the rest of the rides. I mean honestly I can understand rides like MF/TTD where you get off in a different place then where you board. But why the hell can't I bring a backpack into the line for Power Tower? It's just going to sit there until I return after the ride is open. Doesn't make sense for me to have to go get a $2 locker after every ride. That meant that I had to split up from my bro/sister-in-law on Sunday when I wanted to go around getting my pictures, etc. I would have much rather hung out with them and just taken pictures as we walked around, like I do at normal parks. I also saw multiple people getting turned away from the entrance at Magnum for this. And that was just for having a small stuffed animal or basketball. that's a great idea, pester people to play games to win small stuffed animals, then force them into putting into a paid locker. But overall it was a great weekend. But Cedar Point still surprises me from time to time. They may be voted best park year after year, but they're definetly the most anal park out there. For all the things they do geat, there's always some small thing that doesn't fit in. Raptor's cobra roll. Millenium Force Still hands down my favorite ride in the park. Sandusky salutes it's own Jackie Townsend Miss America 1963?? Maybe they don't consider Kingda Ka a coaster? Always a welcome sign. Power Tower. No longer the only non-coaster must ride. Draggin Iron. Raptor, great as always. maXair is a great addition to the park. Now there's more to do at the park then coasters.
  18. I don't have too much of a problem with this. Afterall our society is very much based off of the idea that paying more will get you more. I've taken advantage of systems to bypass a line from time to time. At SFNE we worked those q-bots as much as we could. We got many more laps in on Superman that we would have without them. However, I also think that these perks should not interfere with the GP too much. If a trickle of people bypass the line from time to time, no big deal. but I'd be pretty pissed off if I was at the front of the line and had to wait longer as entire groups of people skip in front of me. I've gotten my share of dirty looks from people while using q-bot,etc.
  19. ^ But really how many of us will have been to 4 of them? I'm guessing not that many. Considering that the 5 parks are quite a distance apart, it'd take quite the trips to make it to 4 or 5 of the parks. Even if you live in the midwest say, that would get you 3 of them. But to get another 1 park in you'd have to travel quite a distance.
  20. Not to nitpick or anything but PCW is the acronym for Canadas Wonderland. PCar is typically used for Carowinds I believe. Just thought you might have confused PCW for CArowinds seeing as you also listed PCanada. I've only been to PCW and PKi so far(will be adding PKD later this summer). Out of those 2 I'd lean towards PKI. But it's close. It's the whole quality versus quanity debate. Wonderland is about as average as they get. Though PKIs coasters are much more painful.
  21. Thanks guys. I'll be celebrating my usual way by heading down to Cedar Point for the weekend.
  22. It was a fun video. Though you might have gotten a bit out of control with the fading in and out. Made me slightly crosseyed.
  23. If it does come true that might actually get me to go down there. Kingda Ka wasn't enough, but that might do it.
  24. ^ I thought the same thing. I just assumed it was the PGA Top Gun. I was actually pleased to find I was wrong. The PGA version always seemed to short to me, and the Carowinds version is one I hadn't really seen much footage of.
  25. My favs this batch are "shut up and smile", and "bumps and bruises".
