Name That Park!!

Pretty easy. Paramount Kings Dominion. Volcano gives it away. I'll have to see if I can find a pic. Edit: Make it a bit tricky. Though techically it's not a real picture of a park. I've edited out the name however. Guess the park -
^ I don't really mind getting wet when it's baking hot out. Plus it's fairly unique. There's lots of top spins, but not too many of them will send you through a water curtain. The thing I keep noticing about Cliffhanger is just how much they hold you upside down for. It does basically two 180 degree passes with everyone upside down. Complete with a pretty long stop when it reverses directions. Cliffhanger doesn't really do alot of flips like other top spins, but it still runs a pretty intense program.

Looks awesome, can't wait to ride it in June. -
So I stopped by PCW for a few hours this afternoon. I stayed for about 4 hours before heading down the street to my sisters place for Mothers day. First thing I got my season pass processed. There was a good sized line, so it took me about an hour. After that I made my way across the park filming and taking pictures. The park seemed to be warming up(temps and staff). Seems most rides were cycling pretty well. The only real ride I intended on riding today was Italian Job:Stunt track. The line was 90 minutes long, though I got on in 50 minute via the single riders line. Overall I thought it was a really good ride. It's not going to blow you away, but it is a really fun ride. The first launch is pretty decent. It's actually kind of odd that it starts out gradually, and then starts to accelerate harder as you go. The helix had some decent force to it, though sitting in the back seat there wasn't too much airtime. The tunnel part was pretty cool as it was pitch black in there. Plus it takes a few good turns while in the darkness. This ride will probably end up being a bigger hit for PCW then PKI will have with theirs. Simply because PCW trully needed a decent coaster. before this most of their rides were just average. So at least now they have a coaster which deserves to be the best in the park. One interesting thing to note is that PCW's IT:ST now has all 3 trains on site. Though they were only running 2 trains. Not sure if the crew just hasn't been trained for 3, or wether the 3rd train hasn't had enough cycles to run. Though watching the ride I'm not sure the 3rd train would help. They tend to stack 2 trains quite often, so a 3rd would just make that worse. And I'm not 100% if they can fit 3 trains in the station area. If they can't then I can see a train getting held up at the chopper scene quite often. More pictures can be found here Edit: forgot to mention that even at 6"4, 190 lbs I fit into IT:ST nicely. Was pretty comfortable, even with those ankle restraints. Great ride, though personally I prefer the Huss versions. IT:ST turns the final turn into the station. Note the 3rd train sitting on the transfer tracks. Cliffhanger is currently running a dry program where you don't get wet. Come summer months that water curtain will drench the entire ride.

Cedar Point now testing with people
Carnage replied to Frade's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
That can't really happen accidentaly. Frisbee's at their higheste point are only a bit above 180 degrees. They would need an extremely large push to get it to go the extra 90ish degrees. I'd be surprised if the ride was even capable of doing that. It's not something you have to worry about. Though it would be cool if they built an inverting frisbee. -
How many coasters have you been on?
Carnage replied to Coasters 4 ever's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
144. Should be over 200 by years end(or even in about a month). -
Disaster Transport at CP

^ Actually DT closes in the rain just like any bobsled. The reason is that when it rains the water goes through vents in the ceiling and falls onto the track. -

Last time I checked Alaska wasn't part of Canada. benzo41190: Very strict camera policy. You can't film on any ride. Well almost none. You can on the train ride, sky ride, etc. But not on any thrill ride/coaster. -
^ But that's one of the things that could get the park in trouble. Assuming all your guests are going to follow rules isn't always going to work. the park's legal responsiblity is to make sure that every guest is safe regardless of what they do. Sure you can say "If she had her seatbelt on she'd be fine". But you could also say "If her lapbar was fully down she would have been fine". Just playing a bit of devils advocate as I don't fully believe that HW will come out clean on this. We need to remember that we're talking about a lawsuit. Lawsuits don't always follow "real world logic".
-
^ Yeah, I agree it was totally her fault for removing the seat belt. (Well I assume so, I don't know all the details). But the thing is that you shouldn't have to depend on the seat belt. The park allowing one click rides like that could be viewed as letting the primary restraint be made less usefull(and it did seeing as she was killed). I'm not saying the park did anything wrong. But in a civil case I think they would have a hard time defending that.
-
I do beleive that she was at fault. However, I also beleive that HW can and will be found somewhat at fault. Simply because they allowed it. I've seen quite a few pictures of lap bars that were left much higher then I ever would have guessed possible. The whole "one click" ride thing. The fact that they allowed riders to ride with lap bars not totally down could hurt them. Possibly some sort of negligence.

Italian job review
Carnage replied to thrillrider1's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'm not sure about Italian Job, but some movie themed rides start being planned before the movie is even released. So they sometimes have to guess how popular a movie will end up being while they are planning the ride. -
Steel Dragon 2000
Carnage replied to pgathriller's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
So what parks in the world would have the kind of room that SD2000 takes up? Not a whole lot of parks has that kind of room. It's a shame to see a ride like that just sitting. -
Mother's Day - which park are you going to??
Carnage replied to edboxer's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
PCW. I'm having a mothers day dinner at my sisters place which is just down the street from the park. So I'm going to stop off for the afternoon before going to my sisters house. -

^ Meh, just as long as it opens. Hell, I'm surprised enough of how early PCW is open. It's even open a full week before some of the major parks like Cedar Point. -

That's not really an accident. When I hear accident I think of something more serious involving injuries. -

^ It looks pretty decent, just nothing special. When it was actually running it seemed to be cycling pretty quickly as well. However it definety does not look like the start of the 3rd golden age of coasters like pkicentral.com is reporting. Seems their report crosses the suck up line by just a bit.
