Though realistically you can only have one or the other. Huge hill and nothing else, or smaller hill and other inversions/hills/etc. Having both would simply be far too expensive. Even adding an overbank or a couple hills would have taken up ALOT of room, and would have made the ride way too expensive. The ride was already 25 million as it is. -

That shot I took of Minebuster was taken from the fence of splash works. Right by Skyrider's helix. (that mini plaza type area where the exit of Skyrider is). Minebuster jackhammered alot. But it wasn't unrideable. I've been on far worse coasters before. -
That looks like so much fun. Funny that I've been yelled at for just spinning sideways slightly in a wave swinger. Though if you did this exact concept with a full capcity wave swinger that would be chaos, and probably painful. Probably a bit safer if you can call it that when only having a pair of riders in reach of each other.

Finally after 6ish months I get to ride some coasters. None of my freinds were able to go to opening day today, so I just decided to make the trek out there by myself for awhile. I've been itching to ride something, so I just had to go. Lineups weren't too bad considering the parking lot was packed. Plus season pass processing only took me 5 minutes. Though I think I lucked out by not having to fill out one of the forms. On my way out I stopped in to get my parking pass and noticed a supervisor telling all the photo employee's that everyone had to fill out a form. I was there for about 2.5 hours. Long enough to get rides in on Mightly Canadian Minebuster, Vortex, Shockwave, and Wild Beast. All 3 coasters were ridden in the very back seat. MCMB had some good air on the second hill, but had some serious jackhammering on the way out. As usual the lap bar was pinned down against my stomach because of this. The return run still feels like the train has plain run out of gas. Vortex was good as usual. Had a bit of vibration to it, but not too much. Probably due to being a back seat ride more then anything. The trains are back to the full 6 cars after finishing the year with 5. Though to be honest I never found much of a difference between the 5 car train and the 6 car train. Wild Beast was a bit rough, though I'd again blame that on the back seat ride. I just happen to love back seat rides. If I was off a ride with bruises I'm happy. I noticed the odd squeaking the trains were making as well. Shockwave was fun as usual. I love top scans. Overall it was a pretty good time. Didn't seem like the ops were all that green at all. Seemed like they were all pretty warmed up and working hard. though granted I was only there for a short time. If you look closely in the Italian Job picture you can just barely see the third train. Though by train I mean wheel assemblies. The base of the trains is there, but not the seats and mini's themselves. Shockwave. I love top scans. My favourite ride in the park. Vortex - Best coaster in the park. For Derek, as well as lift hill enthusiasts. Helix of doom. For Nicole. Skyrider and Jet Scream. Mighty Canadian Minebuster. Not a great ride, but not really bad either. Italian Job. No way I was waiting in that line. (and that's only half the line)

^ Just first 2 of many Wally. I'm hoping to get out there this afternoon. I'm itching to ride. -
^^ Well I'm making the assumption based on the fact that she was in Canada. So most likely he was Canadian.
-
And yet he was Canadian, and was most likely more attractive then anything you could get in Buffalo.

If you're dedicating that ride to Tom you have to look over and say in a british accent "I'm not looking forward to this" while going up the lift hill. -

Did they change the entrance plaza? The security screenings look like they're right in front of the turnstiles now? Last year there was a large gap between the screenings and the turnstiles. -
Top Thrill Dragster Question
Carnage replied to pgathriller's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
That was before the ride opened from what I understand. They had it launch at well over 100 mph. However that speed would also produce lethal amounts of g-forces. It was only to test the launch system. You can't just add 30-40 feet to the top of a ride like TTD. Increasing the speed that much would require the pull outs to be re-profiled to make the forces bearable. You'd basically be rebuilding the entire ride from scratch. -

lol I can actually remember this girl poking me. When I didn't giggle she went "Aren't you supposed to giggle?". I just replied "Yeah, well what are you going to do about it?". Then I wandered off trying not to knock over any shelves of stock(I could barely see where I was going). -

lol you read my mind. It wasn't exactly fun wearing that thing. It barely fit, the head weighed like 40 pounds, and I was sweating buckets. Plus all the kids running up and poking me. I refused to do the giggle though. for $6/hour that's all they were going to get out of me. -

I was planning on going that night, but ended up having to go to a stag and doe instead. I'll probably make it out to the park tomorow at some point. -

How'd you know? It was a long planned revenge plot after I was forced to dress up as the PDB years ago while working at a grocery store. Poke me and die. -

If they were getting the ball coaster it's footprint would most likely put it where Demon Drop curently is(which wasn't removed afterall). I can't see them putting a small footprint coaster over where WWL was. This construction is starting much ealier then even MF and TTD. So I'm kind of puzzled. -

I'm really confused now as well. I really didn't expect them to go Intamin this time. Especially considering they have just about every existing product Intamin builds already in the park. So either they're going to trump an existing ride, or this is indeed a prototype. Wouldn't that ball coaster prototype take up a much smaller area? And definetly wouldn't require starting construction so early? -

I'm going to be in Ottawa in a couple weeks. I'm hoping to run over to La Ronde quickly for a ride no Goliath. But we'll have to see if I can fit in it. I'd love to ride it in that fog. -

The park isn't even open yet. And even when it opens I don't think there's going to be alot to see. You guys are reading too much into this, just enjoy the season and wait for the announcement. The 2 and 2 comment could refer to 1 B&M just as much as it could be hinting at dueling. -

This sounds more like a PR move then anything doesn't it? I mean if someone with a health condition gets in line and misses all the warning signs, then what's keeping this same person from getting into line and missing the sign that says "less intense version". So even if there is a non moving option, someone could still get on the intense version when they shouldn't. -

Most longer coasters in the US would have block brakes. Though that in itself isn't a negative. You'd have to look at spefic examples to determine that. Block brakes are more used to enable the running of more trains, which in turn creates more capacity. -
Locking in 3..2..1..

We definetly don't have that word in Canada, as I just heard it for the first time. -
I think my work would have a problem with that.
