  1. I've dismissed the idea before, but I really need to go on some kind of Internet fast or other conscious reduction in Internet use. My compulsive, mindless web surfing isn't just a poor use of my time, but is breeding unnecessary stress and negative energy that I could be channeling in more useful and constructive ways.
  2. I was just opening and throwing out random old junk mail from Southwest Airlines when I discovered one of the envelopes contains multiple unexpired, totally valid alcoholic beverage coupons!!!!! Just in time for my next trip too! Also, I am having a demented solo dance party to one of my favorite bands.
  3. Coincidence of the day: this morning, I had a flashback to an infuriating (non-theme park) experience in 2012 that I try not to think about. Later today, I was searching my old TPR posts for something else. Turns out that in 2011, I replied to a rant about almost the exact same situation happening to someone else, in the same town, involving the same terrible company. I don't even remember making that post since it was just a random remark at the time. Just thought it was funny our two bad experiences were so similar, and that I came across that today without even trying. At least now I feel a little less alone in thinking it was something totally undeserved and worth getting upset about.
  4. "Walking Blues" - Rory Block Can't wait for her new album, a tribute to Skip James!
  5. 1990. The only one worth mentioning is Thunder Run. It came reasonably close to living up to the hype this year.
  6. Some radio station is (shockingly) playing "Hotel California," and I will NEVER argue with that.
  7. "Pinebluff, Arkansas" - Bukka White I keep hearing about him, and I've heard a song or two of his live. Finally checking him out.
  8. "Nothing At All" - Minor Soul Not my style--I only know about them because they win at social media.
  9. "Runaway Dog" - Rory Block Stop talking to your dogs and come up with a real song!
  10. California Screamin'. At the time, it was terrifying.
  11. "Sunshine of Your Love" - Cream
  12. Seventeen rides last Friday on the venerable Classic Coaster (Coaster Thrill Ride) at the Washington State Fair, mostly in the extreme rows. I still haven't recovered from the ejector air in the back row, although the front is more fun overall. However, this was my most recent credit.
  13. First thought: Coaster at Playland. Apart from the seriously lacking park atmosphere, it provides one of the purest classic coaster experiences around, combined with an exceptionally great ride (I find it more extreme than Phoenix). Second thought: Giant Dipper at SCBB. Another one of the most charming classic coaster experiences, including the setting, ride aesthetics, and station. Plus, last time I rode, it was an airtime machine.
  14. I am all for appropriate sensitivity, and I realize that some things can be uninentionally offensive (with or without calling for apology or changes), but this is a ridiculous overreach. It just smacks of obnoxious political correctness.
  15. Yeah, I feel like I'm happier than I should be that it was sold (assuming it actually gets built). Wasn't expecting that.
  16. California Screamin'. Easily the best coaster I had ridden at that time, and one of my favorites for quite a while.
  17. Horrific news. I'd like to know what caused it. I know rides are generally (perhaps even overwhelmingly) safe, but it would still reassure me to understand how rare tragedies like this can be prevented.
  18. ^I bet those lions look cool! I've never visited the park, so I doubt I'll be be bothered by the changes to its appearance that the coaster will bring.
  19. "Just Another Rider" - Gregg Allman Sigh...
  20. I love some of their glam-era hard rock songs, and some of the Led Zeppelin "ripoffs," but their ballads get old fast. Especially "Here I Go Again," since that is obnoxiously overplayed. I need to check out their earlier more bluesy stuff.
  21. ^Hmm, I always figured they were still one of the most popular.
  22. More like Burning Colossus. Colossus the Fire Dragon. Oh wait, that's already taken.
  23. Roller Coaster at Country Mercantile. It's the same model as the last coaster I rode before it. In fact, I've ridden three this year.
  24. Fire. But I do rank them about the same. I think it's the famous airtime hill that made a slight difference for me.
  25. "Black Cat Bone" - Albert Collins
