  1. I was just trying to remember Battech, thanks. They're from my neck of the woods and I think I'm most happy that they're still making the Rotor.
  2. Ha, this is at least the third place I've seen that mentioned today. All from TPR members, but still. Anyone remember when it was SheiKra?
  3. I had a dream that was so scary, I tried to call for help by singing "Jingle Bells" using only the word "woof."
  4. ^^^That's too bad. It seems like a step backward to add them to a ride that doesn't call for that style by design. Not like I'm ever going to ride it again, though. I just hope we don't end up with 10 pages of discussion about this.
  5. Sounds like a great addition to the park and an awesome little coaster. As an enthusiast, it's hard to make this a high priority when I've ridden Wooden Warrior, but then again, how many people would even consider flying from one Portland to the other Portland for this? I feel like I should work it into my next trip to the area though!
  6. I can't think of any Batman with a setting I like better. I credit SFGAm for very good landscaping of many of their rides. I think many of us suspect that RMC would clone their rides if requested, as most companies would--they might prefer not to on principle, as suggested by their creativity, but wouldn't turn down the opportunity.
  7. ^^^Wow, those might be the most exciting non-official pics I've seen so far! Thanks for updating us!
  8. Sweet! I'm guessing this isn't necessarily consistent throughout a given season, but great to hear it's at least possible. For me, Prowler was one of the worst for that, even considering that the vast majority of Millennium Flyers do this. Maybe you were just lucky, but if it is due to some kind of adjustment, that's good news! Thanks for your report.
  9. And that was after I tried to edit it down. That's what too much coffee does to me! CoasterCounter actually has an iPhone app. It is a paid app, but I apparently found it worth buying! And Coaster-Count has a handy simplified mobile site you can save to your phone. The icon for it is quite amusing...
  10. Yup, Excel is the way to go. That way I always have a 100% accurate count according to my methods. My main list is my coasters in approximate (in many cases exact) chronological order. I also have a lot of random nerdy subpages: various rankings, park visit dates, manufacturers, coasters in the US I need, and parks I feel are worth visiting. I use both websites, too, but recently started using CoasterCounter in a different way. I use Coaster-Count for my most accurate count, even though it refuses to let anyone count relocated coasters as credits (you can track them in multiple locations without counting). Since CoasterCounter is a wiki, I could keep a 100% accurate count, but I've sacrificed that for something better! Now I only track my quality coasters there, based on the most recent Mitch Hawker ballots: all woodies except second sides of non-dueling racers, and any unique steel coaster, plus one example of any grouped ride. It's much easier to rank them there without having to wade through everything I don't rank.
  11. I'll take those two over Kings Dominion and Six Flags America any day.
  12. I am using maracas to play an invisible xylophone.
  13. I'll play along with the comparisons. FYI, I had no particular motivation to prefer BGT, and I did visit BGW first. Rides: BGT Setting: BGW Atmosphere: BGT Favorite park: BGT Cheetah Hunt >>>>> Verbolten Montu >>> Alpengeist SheiKra = Griffon Apollo's Chariot >>>> Kumba Scorpion >> Loch Ness Monster
  14. I'm still really liking all these comparisons to Montu. Both because it bodes well for my opinions on Banshee and because it reminds me of all the love out there for Montu.
  15. What an impressive level of detail; they really went above and beyond. Hope it all stands the test of time!
  16. Count me among those who really dig the Guardian sign!
  17. This--very happy about the retracking news and early reports, but I know it's infamous for deteriorating even over a few months. Hoping this work can make more of a lasting difference!
  18. Hmm...I don't seem to remember a strong preference, though I think the back may have held a slight edge for me. I do agree that you don't need to sit in either extreme row to have a great time!
  19. ^Looking forward to hearing more! I totally understand, but I wouldn't say they couldn't, either. I'm especially thinking of Gravity Group with Wooden Warrior and Roar-O-Saurus. And even B&M confused us all recently with that Vekoma Jr. Suspended knockoff in China.
  20. I didn't even think of this at first, looks like there are indeed two shades of orange if lighting isn't deceiving me. I might not have chosen those colors but now that it's been pointed out, I like that they did that.
  21. "Pay Day" - Mississippi John Hurt
  22. How has no one mentioned the best part of this whole rumor yet? It's supposed to be named Diavolo. How's that for a bad-a$$ name?! (Okay, maybe it's just a project name, but it still bodes well for the theme...)
  23. Totally agreed. With good customer service and proper upkeep, they could be another Holiday World or Silverwood. The coaster collection has so much unrealized potential--Cyclops is the only one I wouldn't necessarily trust another owner to run better (and that's not to say it's perfect). Hades would be challenging for anyone, but at least the other parks with TGG woodies have a reputation of trying to keep up with them (I know Mt. Olympus finally retracked Hades 360...a season too late). In its early years, even now-overlooked Zeus was well-reviewed. If they had preserved more trees, the coasters would still be highly praised for their settings as well--it's still pleasantly woodsy in parts.
  24. I hope this didn't come from B&M, since that would guarantee all their other hypers would get them eventually. (Unless there really is some invisible difference between the train types that would make them only necessary on the staggered ones, which obviously I highly doubt. And we already believe it's more likely a go/no-go indicator than an actual backup restraint, so it's not like the newer trains are less safe.)
  25. Remind me why we believe this won't have dual loading? I get that some aspects of the planning documents have to be accurate, but is it possible that whatever gave us that impression was a "placeholder" image that simply indicated the height or other dimensions, but was not meant as final word on the loading? Or that it's a change they would be allowed to make or announce later on versus now? It seems they were keeping things open to change.
