I appreciate the modesty, but I see nothing wrong with any of those photos. Amazing shots, and so cool that you had that opportunity! -
What is your next park?
cal1br3tto replied to onewheeled999's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
That should be Coney Island, Cincinnati on Thursday. Not much time in between for it to be something else, after all. I continue to be pleasantly surprised when I discover I have spelled "Cincinnati" right on the first try. -
What Was The Last Coaster You Rode?

A fast and furious night ride on Boardwalk Bullet. Full train, relentless speeds, airtime just about everywhere you could hope for, and nothing but a quick view of water and then a tangled mess of supports to feast my eyes upon from the back row. And it was even smooth, I mean, uh, not rough! Oh, wait. I went to SFOT for the weekend. That's right, it was actually NTAG. (I just wanted an excuse to compliment Boardwalk Bullet too.) -
Hersheypark (HP) Discussion Thread

Very interesting thoughts on Skyrush. I will never turn down a ride on Skyrush and am even willing to marathon it, yet I don't consider myself a fan. It may sound like I'm just trying to be contrary, but I'm truly willing to keep trying to "get" it. And I did find the restraints more uncomfortable than purely painful, though I totally sympathize with the continued complaints (they're still equally valid no matter when or how many times they're posted). It does seem like there's something missing amidst all the attempts at "extremeness." I am starting to feel more tempered enthusiasm for ejector airtime. A lot of people really only go for ejector, but I've found I enjoy pretty much all forms of airtime, and there's not necessarily one particular strength or interpretation that automatically does it for me. Also, I've long enjoyed the gentler forces on some coasters that can't necessarily be described as "tame," but aren't considered "extreme," which is why at times I've been a fan of Silver Bullet and other B&M rides. Fahrenheit is definitely in the category of "admittedly tame, but somehow still really fun" for me, and I rank it above Skyrush. -
Bay Area's 2 parks?
cal1br3tto replied to Vmarc1279's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Thanks, we appreciate your kind thoughts. With liberal stretching of the imagination, you could say there are something like 4 amusement park proposals in the Houston area that could at least marginally be considered 'live.' Not that I would put money on any more than two of those happening, max. -
Lake Compounce Discussion Thread
cal1br3tto replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Is it true that this is gone? Yes, there's a reason I'm asking for confirmation: I noticed that Kennywood sometimes (not currently) lacks information about their system on their website, so I wondered if they were trying to minimize awareness of it for customer service reasons. Like, they figured the "right" people would learn about it in the park and buy it, but they didn't want too many random people finding out about it and getting confused or complaining. I will be disappointed if Lake Compounce doesn't have this available. -
Thank you for mentioning this. He was a remarkable talent, and I'm sure to keep on enjoying his music. Here is an article I shared about his life and death.

Knoebels Discussion Thread

Hopefully they're just waiting on a sign. I can't think of any reason they wouldn't eventually put up signs in visible locations warning about this like other policies. Most parks seem to post visible warnings, so it's annoying when they don't (or arbitarily close earlier than a posted time). I guess they're expecting mostly locals who are used to it. -
Hersheypark (HP) Discussion Thread
cal1br3tto replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I have a definite top 2 for Hershey, and even the best of the rest are decidedly lower. Mine are Storm Runner and Lightning Racer. Still hoping I'll have some kind of breakthrough on a few others that have some potential, though. Cool, the location feature sounds like it could be really helpful for some people. I would probably mainly use it as a novelty since I have a fair idea of where everything is. -

it was WONDERFUL. . and most of the carts were selling CDs of the music they were playing. Good stuff! I have some albums, myself, though I don't think it's something I'd care to invest much more in. Having the whole authentic experience is more fun, with the records just bringing back some of the memories. -
Yes. No worries there. Side note: that actually used to confuse me a long time ago, since some parks had 2-3 levels of passes, and part of me wanted to think the cheapest one was for the home park only, though that wasn't the case. I have had that exact issue every time on Riddler's. I have no idea why it always seems to be only me, since I don't seem to be doing anything incorrectly, nor am I notably weaker than average. And the extra click up leaving the station ruins the perfect position the op was magically able to set (that sounded creepy).

I feel like this is the first time I've seen a lot of praise for Sledge Hammer--I thought it was widely viewed as underwhelming. Wasn't there a whole thread about it once where people said they didn't think much of it? I do think the original Huss Jump/Jumping is a fun quirky ride, though a bit jerky for comfort. -
