  1. Confirmed by the park, but not yet officially announced: new roller coaster at Oaks Amusement Park for 2018, replacing their Pinfari ZL-42. So far, it's only been described as "extreme," plus a seeming hint from the park that it'll be better than Looping Thunder. I'm hoping the full announcement comes on August 16. My guesses... More likely: an El Loco, Eurofighter or similar ride. I'm guessing the ride will have at least one inversion, since it wouldn't seem right to replace Looping Thunder with a non-inverting ride. Possible: a first-of-its kind compact coaster. You never know what they might've seen at IAAPA... Less likely: a new-school compact wooden coaster. There's an old rumor that the park (or its owner) was not interested in a traditional woodie, but it'd be perfect for a classic amusement park that's had three wooden coasters. Less likely: a spinning mouse (seems like a good fit for the park, which had a classic wild mouse before Looping Thunder...but doesn't seem "extreme" enough and probably wouldn't invert). Very unlikely [crosses fingers]: a non-coaster flat ride marketed as a coaster. They already have a Disk'O, and I'm hoping they wouldn't do that to us...but there's still the possibility of a Larson looper or somesuch... I'm also making an educated guess that it'll take up the space of Looping Thunder, but that's not a given...
  2. One less Pinfari in the world*: one of my home parks, Oaks Amusement Park in Portland, is replacing their Pinfari ZL-42, Looping Thunder, with a new roller coaster next year! I boldly assume it will not be Pinfari (my guesses are El Loco, Eurofighter/similar, spinning mouse, or first-of-its-kind compact coaster). *Assuming they scrap it.
  3. Despite its smallness and location, this park has always been on my must-visit list, yet I've never seen a close look on it that I can recall. I'm glad Legend is riding well, and the park looks absolutely adorable. Oh wow, good catch. I was going to say that I love the look of Legend's "non-ad" train. I also missed that this is a slightly older report, but that's perfectly cool.
  4. [image copied from previous page of thread] Goodness gracious.
  5. ^Not to out you or anything, but do you mean Magic Forest the kids-only theme park? Hey, I've been there too.
  6. ^Quite a treasure you have yourself! I'm no scholar of the park's history, but that was pretty fun to watch.
  7. 92; 73%. Interestingly, in my FB post from February (which I know I was equally careful about, and which was also out of 126), I listed 93 in the post and the link says 94; I vaguely remember correcting myself in one direction or the other for some reason. Can't explain the discrepancy between then and now, though.
  8. I'm "lucky" in that I wasn't a fan of Dragon Challenge. Fireball had one moment that could pass as "standout" to me. Hornball had none, and neither side inspired me to reride, even with no wait. I'm unlucky in that I never got to ride them as Dueling Dragons.
  9. Yes. In fact, I'm surprised and a bit disappointed that I'm not drunk right now. Oh, well, there's always tomorrow...and the next day... Do you try to keep to a certain bedtime?
  10. No. In the past I've been quite a bit fonder of B&M hypers than a lot of long-time enthusiasts, but I can't see Shambhala blowing me away or stealing my heart like the coasters in my RMC-and-Intamin-heavy top 10. Did you play RCT before becoming a coaster enthusiast?
  11. ^My first thought was, "Oh, now I'll have to go back there." I quickly remembered that, in fact, I'd already wanted to do so. Very intriguing news regarding what's currently a fairly inoffensive, but ultimately middling-to-poor wooden coaster. Also, I'd forgotten all about Screamscape until earlier today when I saw them quoted in the NYT.

  14. No, I do not. Do you cut your own hair?
  15. Yes: Verbolten. Do you have a 2017 calendar on your wall?
  16. Yup... 1. Enchanted Forest - 10 miles 2. Oaks Amusement Park - 38 miles 3. Washington State Fair - 155 miles Close to a tie for 3rd: Wild Waves - 165 miles Or, like, FOUR hours...
  17. Very suspenseful report! I enjoyed it, despite the flashbacks to middle school (when everyone was obsessed with Johnny Depp and/or Orlando Bloom).
  18. I appreciate the update on Boulder Dash. I didn't know it'd been retracked, so after reading your subtitle I was glad to hear it's still amazing! I remain extremely skeptical about the possibility of the Wildcat experience being improved.
  19. I've been away from punk for quite a while (except for some niche subgenres like punk blues and glam punk: The Flesh Eaters, The Gun Club, Hanoi Rocks, etc.), but I'm surprised the only band of these I can recall hearing of is Anti Cimex. I'm not really keen on dipping back into punk at the moment, but I'll have to file away those other names just in case!
  20. I work in shipping at a commercial nursery. Mainly I gather orders, load and unload trucks, and work in the plastics area. I've also helped in production, which can either be agreeably mindless or, more often, mind-numbingly stultifying. The season peaks at Mother's Day, but we should continue to be busy into June.
  21. ^Wow, I haven't been to a punk show since high school, but Leftover Crack was my favorite band for a good stretch of time, and consequently I got into Choking Victim as well. I thought about seeing LC a year or two back, but at the same time I feel like it might've been a wise decision to back out of that one....Anyway, cool name to see in this thread!
  22. Nah, I'd rather go to a rinky-dink place over a chain... Did you participate in Record Store Day yesterday?
  23. Well, my first response was "WTF," so I think that tells you my answer is...no. Do you have a particular go-to drink at your favorite coffee shop?
  24. Yet?! As if! I did pass by Wild Waves and Great Wolf Lodge today, though... Are you a fan of Nutella?
  25. Let me just love on my latest two. Above: literary running collie from about a week ago. The artist, David Stein from Grizzly Tattoo, did a fantastic job copying the design. As it was one of my first serious ideas, it feels like I've had it way longer! Fresh. From last June, one of my favorite houses in Portland, based on a line drawing I happened to acquire. You might expect a more elaborate design and perhaps a "haunted house" look, but I like the contrast between the simplicity of the linework and the ornateness of the actual home. It also lends some mystery as often people can't pin down what it is (tattoos should generally be easily identifiable from a decent distance, but that's not the issue here--it looks pretty sharp, just a bit cryptic). Note that any imperfections are due to my skin/body or limitations of my design choice, as I saw an award-winning artist at a great shop. Placement context.
