at this points its more SFMM wont do it (cuz $$ and what would they really get out of it?) rather than cant do it. I like everyone else would welcome the return to lap bars. I would personally ride it regularily on my visits but the trends of myself and the enthusiest community dont neccessarily reflect that of the masses

Jeez, I didnt expect there to be so much controversy around the reviews of this ride. They were what I expected. The new POV looks great and the work they did around the ride looks awesome! -

I believe removing the Animals may have been part of the overall problem. While Im not 100% familiar with the history as i dont live in the market, from what I've been told, Sea World was always very successful. When Premier bought the place, though they decided to compete directly with CP (which lets be honest, CP is THE BEST amusement park) so it was an uphill batlle to convince the consumer that GL was better value and they should skip CP. The animals gave some differentiation but without them GL was just not as good. SF management failed at their analysis the park's competitive advantage and how to stay relevant in the market. I figure if anything when CF bought GL they saw that they couldnt improve the park without canabalizing the same market they already owned. Now having KI in Southern ohio, it really didnt make sense to own a 3rd full fledged park. -

It was announced a quick google search will pull up some hits in the local media. Idk about the time frame for opening but it tends to take many weeks of testing before the governing body will approve its grand opening. -
I think that is what the height limit is because Dropzone is over 200 feet this reminds me, does anyone have the stats on the hyper (or was it a hypersonic clone?) that was originally supposed to go to this park? I think the events that transpired as a result of that fiasco was one of the reasons Paramount was very hesitant to try and build any more major projects. And CF's latest struggle with getting GR built only illustrated the park's issues that much further.

#BanSelfieSticks - Help Us Spread The Word!
Gnome replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Do you guys ever think that you're being a bunch of themepark hipsters hating on the mainstream population? I definately agree that the should be removed from areas where they're especially intrusive (like museums And shows and the rides themselves) but banning them all together is a bit absurd -
Why don't giga coasters have steeper drops?

A quality and well executed themed environment adds to the park experience. It might make waiting in lines more enjoyable. Overall though I think immersive and exotic theme experiences give guests something unique you can't obtain in real life and it helps put guests into the story. Likewise, though, I think some solid landscaping works just as well too. Most Busch parks don't have immersive themes (though they do have a little) but what sales their coasters, to me at least, is how they fit in their environment CP is another great example.

I've heard good things about this ride, too--not to mention Iron Rattler. I'm curious to see what S&S does with the "Zacspin" type ride. I really liked Insane at Grona Lund (which surprised me). Poltergeist is a don't miss too. . and the Road Runner Express at Fiesta really chuggs along fast! Do they severely trim poltergeist on the mcbr like they do on flight of fear at kd? -

I just hope it doesn't end up like the coaster at Coney Island. But hopefully it's been engineered correctly. Looks like a great ride experience. -
Best B&M and Best Intamin

Best Intamin: i305 Best B&M: Kumba Kumba is by far my favorite inverting coaster of all such rides I've been on. Perhaps that will change when I finally get on Maverick -
Considering that there is a visual element to the experience of a roller coaster, I'd argue that aesthetics do make a difference. Face it, parking lot is ugly and hard on the eyes. As somebody else said, Medusa (East) doesn't really get any flack. If the perception wasn't there that the parking lot detracts from the experience of the ride, I doubt it would get brought up. But so are patches of dirt and weeds. I agree with whoever said there wasn't much difference between the two. and overall, the new paint job is MUCH easier on the eyes. So we've got that going for us

Looks like CNN is going after zoos now.
Gnome replied to thrillrider's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The anti-Zoo/aquarium argument to me is the same argument anti-vaxxies use. There's plenty of data to support and demonstrate the positives, there's plenty of data to demonstrate the negatives that would occur without such institutions, but none of that matters because science is a lie and feelings are real.
