The Scariest Water Slide Ever Built
Gnome replied to silentabomb's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I don't recall ever being that scary to me as a kid. I remember we used to call them the wedge because of the massive wedgie you'd get as you hit the final drop. In addition to the wedgie, usually I get a heavy dose of water shoved up my noise. All in the name of good fun though! -
RMC single rail coaster at Silverwood?
Gnome replied to gbioryl's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
If this is true, I will most definitely be getting back out there for another haunt event. The train ride is pretty freaking cool and the night rides on timber terror, tremors, and the new RMC would be very much worth the trip out. -
A Look at Castle Park (Riverside, CA)
Gnome replied to thrillseeker4552's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
A gravity group shuttle coaster would be a perfect addition to this park. Small, but still interesting enough to attract a wider interest. Thanks for the Trip report! -
Teen Titans Go is insanely popular with children. I think that it's the most popular show on Cartoon Network right now. The show is episodic in that each episode has a completely different plot and they effectively return to status quo at the end, so they can expand the universe infinitely. Teen titans go is to narrow of a demographic and its current audience will likely outgrow it in a year or 2. I think the current Justice League dark ride appeals to a much broader demographic. If they do build it, I hope they get higher quality projections. That and the capacity are the only issues I had with it at SFOT but overall it's a great ride that I hope more six flags parks could only benefit from

What Social Media do you use the most?
Gnome replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Pariscope and Snapchat would likely be perfect platforms for you guys to use when you're out at parks. I'm sure a lot of people would tune in. The key to social media is putting out good content consistently. You guys have done a great job curating your Youtube pages, I'm sure you can achieve the same success elsewhere. -
I agree totally! I thought DCA was great. It was interesting to me because it was Disney doing Six Flags (at least the original SF concept) the right way, with a huge bank roll. With the six themed areas highlighting the best of the state in architecture and landscape, and well themed "common" rides (roller coaster, ferris wheel, rapids ride, assorted kids flat rides, etc.), DCA is Six Flags over California. It used to be "meh" but it absolutely came arouns with the $1 billion makeover.

Photo TR: A first time trip to SoCal Theme Parks
Gnome replied to tomtom's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Your review of World of Color is spot on. Its great! BUT... At the end of the day, I really would rather just sit than stand and watch the show. Also, I wish it had more of a story to tie everything together -
^ I really think it is about managing expectations for that ride. Are there things they could have done to improve the show? Absolutely. But those are things that they can always tweak in the future, and hopefully will under Matt Oimet. But between the mine train, log ride, and journey, I think you've got a good selection of famiky friendly dark rides. Any news or rumors about whats repacing screaming swings? Screamscape has nothing. Maybe there's an announcement soon for 2016 plans

Most Anticipated Coasters For 2016

^ I had to look it up but I agree! Looks like a real contender for best ride ever! The RMC's look great thjs year too. So many good coasters. -
Whats your favorite Vekoma?
Gnome replied to Neogreeneyez's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Did Vekoma fabricate the new track for Disneyland's Thunder Mountain? It's ridiculously, and almost unsettling smooth. I will also throw my hat into the "Everest is Vekoma's Best" camp -

manta really is a surprisingly good attraction. While its not in my top 10, I consider it one my notable mentions with the likes of Mummy USF and California Screaming. Not the most extreme thrills but satisfying and a lot of fun -
It wasn't that bad before, in no way did the ride make me want to kill myself. Before when? 2004? Yeah, it wasn't that bad before then. After that, though, it was terrible. So far from these photos I'm seeing that the ride just looks like it's getting a re-tracking. I really hope that does actually help it out, although I'm worried for "how long" will it stay good for? I'm worried as well. But if the rumor of new trains is true, we may have hope yet! I'm not sure what flyers will do, though, if they don't regularly maintain the track the way parks like Silverwood or Holiday World maintain their coasters. Look at how Apocalypse runs these days. My hope is that the re-tracking project is just the first sign of a long and continued effort to maintain the ride as it should have always been to begin with. Also, I feel it is my obligation to say that GR isn't THAT bad if you had rode it shortly after minor refurbishments. Wait too long after, it certainly can become push the limit of what many people would consider to be "fun".

I have to go with everyone else and say Timber Terror. The buzz bar air time is AMAZING in the front seat. There's still some strong lats in the turn around and the helix, but it shines as an airtime machine. Tremors is good too, TT just does more of what I prefer in a roller coaster. -

The little pay for haunt attraction was a lot of fun. How are the additional mazes they set up for their event in comparison?
