  1. I saw these while at swim practice, and got very over-excited when I saw the bottom picture. It looks much nicer than I ever imagined! That drop is going to be wicked! And going by the cliff at 70mph is only going to add to the experience!
  2. Oh, I am so excited for those Gerstlauer trains. The ones on NTAG are so comfortable, and the ones on Iron Rattler will be roomy too! And plus, that rattler head on the front looks awesome.
  3. This is old, I know. But to back up that 'from a dead start' argument, if I'm not mistaken there is no magnetic current until electricity is fed through the LIMs. That's why the lights in Mr. Freeze dim during the launch, and why these coasters are such electricity hoggers. One electricity is fed through, the current is 'activated' and the train is propelled. So the key is basically the electromagnetic current. The current isn't already pre-existent like in magnetic brakes which use an eddy current. I'm pretty sure that's how this works. So, yes. LIMs can propel a train from a complete stop.
  4. I just call it "the-steel-track-that-replaced-the-wood-track" because I'm the only coaster do attic in my family, and if I ever user the word I-box, they would think I was referring to a calculator, or an 'idiot box'. I've heard both ways, the official term is I-box, but the slang term I guess you could say is iron horse, and I could have sworn that I've heard it said with some interviews with RMC. As for wingrides... Um, no. Wing Coaster.
  5. I spent 3 days back to back to back one spring break my freshman year, and I neve got tired. It was incredibly crowded and the lines were upwards to 2 hours, and given Rattlers world breaking capacity record of 20 people per hour, that line was 3. It was horrible. I still had fun, but I never got to ride. The last day I got the flash pass and had to quit riding rides not by choice, but because I got a horrible headache and was only able to ride scream as it just goes up and down. I never got bored, but I didn't ride as much the first two days either.
  6. Has someone mentioned Boardwalk Bullet? I love that drop, it dives straight into the support structure and goes right through the lift hill thanks to the quick turnaround right after the lift. It's great, it twists, and seems much steeper than it actually is.
  7. It was brutal. The front row was tolerable, so that was the only row I would ever ride in. I have however had to ride a few back before, and it was brutal. Just plain brutal. I rode it with a close friend once, and of actually began to rattle the straps of her shirt off her shoulders at the bottom of the first drop. It is the roughest woodie I've been on by far.
  8. ^I thought about going with a friend because they are discounted. And I'm with you, I need my coaster fix!
  9. Regarding Gunslinger, I'm definately excited for it! However, we all know It's going to cost like $10,000 dollars to ride. Anybody know actual prices, or will it be the same as at SFMM?
  10. It's not like we already knew the layout or anything
  11. I'm getting more and more excited for this. It's looking incredible and beautiful against the landscape of the park.
  12. One word.... Aquatrax. There's your main attraction.
  13. Is this legit? Oh goodness.. there does not need to be two Six Flags parks in San Antonio. Benefits: One season pass (maybe), maybe a broader ride selection. Cons: Ummmmm... they speak for themselves. Plus, Six Flags just emerged from Chapter 11. I love Sea World and Fiesta Texas, but this... this can't be happening.
  14. To bring back the inclined loop, I really like the one on Iron Shark. It's the only one on a Eurofighter that I know of, and ends half way over the water. I'd say thats pretty unique!
  15. ^^ Everytime I go its open. Never seen it closed.
  16. I'm guessing that it's a married-on-a-ride concept, but makes me wonder which ride... How many riders will TSS hold at a time again? Forget how many riders will fit on it. That is 4 weeks away. It takes 3 weeks to build the tower, and more than one to add the finishing touches and test. I think it's safe to say it WON'T be in this ride. The only rides I can think of that seat around 12 are aqua man (too cold anyways, that's out) S:TOP, and Runaway Mountain. But again, who says this is on a coaster. They could do it anywhere. Hey, Man + Wife + Priest/Pastor/Mimister/Rabii = one awesome wedding ceremony on Dive Bomber Alley.
  17. Funny.... That's what I put on the survey Six Flags sent me; a GCI woodie!
  18. A passenger was ejected from the ride, blamed on weight, during its inaugural year.
  19. Exactly. Just something to keep that classical essence in the park. It could also benefit towards marketing the older crowds, especially parents bringing their kids to the park. "Oh, mom and dad ride this when I was your age," kind of stuff.
  20. At first i couldn't see how this could possibly work and then the possibilities hit me... that first drop is going to be incredible and the amount of airtime this coaster could potentially have could be INCREDIBLE. Not to mention it could get a nice new coat of paint. The only thing I'm worried about is Six Flags doing this to all of their Classic coasters. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE NTAG, and IRAT is 3 hours away, but I'd still like to see Six Flags either maintain some of their classics or build a new breed of wooden coasters to be considered classics 30 years from now (maybe el toro-ish or something with RMC topper track). Although this 'New Breed' could be the Iron Horse track cousins! Just my 2 cents
  21. As long as there is a coaster...there will be us.
  22. Thats better. I don't mind that at all. PLUS pockets for your phone!
  23. 16/26. NEVER traveled outside of the US NEVER been to any park outside of Texas other than Busch Gardens Tampa.
  24. He just kinda goes, "OOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHH" depending on the severity of the situation.
  25. In my opinion the train is too long for this type of loading system. For example, Ultra Twister at Astroworld did this as it only had six seats. It was just boom boom done. Texas Giant seats 24, not 6. Why seat two at a time? Knock all 24 all at once!
