  1. Since we are here, Sea World San Antonio posted a picture of steel eel on their Facebook page and unless its an old picture it looks to have received a fresh coat of paint. Can anybody confirm or deny this?
  2. I'm pretty sure it was built around the pre existing terrain/pathways. The supports needed to be that way to go around paths and buildings and to not interfere with the lake.
  3. The last time a disabled person thought they were OK to ride a ride, he unforunately fell out and died (S:ROS), and Six Flags probably does not want another one of these stints on their records. This person in question this time has legs, so falling out isn't a possibilty, but say the forces on Aquaman are too strong for him upon impact with the water and he is unable to grasp his lap bar, he could get a serious head injury if his body is thrust forward duue to inertia. So he can shoot a gun, awesome! But he can't GRASP a lap bar. Plus, Aquaman is a water ride, so the restraint will be wet and slippery (considering the restraint is metal). I think SFOT had every right to deny him the ability to ride. It's just one of those "better safe than sorry" scenarios.
  4. SFFT did a 'Harlem Shake' video with Iron Rattler in the background! Take a closer look and it looks like the crew is back up on the lift. My guesses is that they are installing that thin sheet of steel mentioned earlier (look closer at the end of the video and it could be what's dangling from the crane).
  5. Now that i think about it there isnt much they could have done with that area. Its too small.
  6. I don't know about the top but the bottom one is at SeaWorld San Antomio.
  7. I almost fell off my stool in physics when I saw these pictures. That looks AWESOME! Progress is moving on very fast! So really the only track they have to install (minus the sheet of steel), is the second drop off the cliff into the tunnel, through the tunnel, and up to the brakes. I can't wait to see some testing!
  8. The Viper at Six Flags Astroworld! It was my first looping coaster too! My mom took me on it and I remember being scared to death (at this time I was deathly afraid of rollercoasters). I remember after it was over debating on whether I liked it or not, and saying I didn't when I really truly did. I never rode it again before it closed. I also remember how loud the lift was. You could hear it from anywhere in the park. It was an ear splitter. And the tunnel... awesome!!! I'm glad that my first Schwarzkopf was the viper! It was a great starter ride!
  9. It does. It is somewhere on the SFFT Facebook page or on RMC's. The track itself has all these holes in it and then they put on the layer of steel.
  10. I'm think for the future of RMC, they are going to stick with Gerstlauer for Ibox, and RMC trains for Topper mainly because Ibox seems like its for more of a steel coaster experience which uses the polyurethane wheels, and the topper track is for more of a wooden-coaster style coaster. I'm basing my assumptions off of NTAG and IRat being classified as steel and Outlaw Run being classified as wood. But it all depends on what the park wants.
  11. ^ It really does seem like it will be scaled down just a tad. I'm kind of surprised they are going with a yellow and black color scheme considering the dome is, well, pink. It might contrast with the dome, but it's not like paint really matters too much. I think it's going to be a great addition to the dome!
  12. I just got back from my Region VII 4A swim meet in San Antonio, however a drive-by near Fiesta Texas was not on the itinerary. I really wanted to see this monster of a coaster up close in person. I'm real happy with the way the coaster is coming out. It looks like construction is moving along quite swiftly. It won't be long until opening day! As for the train design, that rattlesnake head on the front of the front car looks awesome! I'm not big with themed coaster trains, I prefer generic, but it looks awesome! Gerstlauer has done an excellent job so far on IRat and did great on NTAG. This coaster is going to turn out great!
  13. They used to have an 'x-treme' show or something like that right at the front of the park with BMX style biking and skateboarding and rollerblading, but I only got to see it once. I'm not really a show person, but this one I liked.
  14. Great! Can't wait to see the first parts go up!
  15. I think the whole brouhaha over whether or not Iron Rattler should be considered a new ride was settled when NTAG opened, someone stated it had a different serial number, so therefore it is new. Real excited to see how it stacks up against gatekeeper and Outlaw Run. Should be interesting.
  16. Oh no, those leaning cars look terrible. If the train hits the brakes too hard, it's going to slam the seats forward and wouldn't feel right (based on inertia), unless there is some sort of system to gently bring the cars up. Plus, it will probably not feel nice in the back if the seat bangs up your knee. I'm not a fan of this idea.
  17. ^ Oh my... That's incredible! Thank you so much!
  18. Can you say HEADCHOPPERS!!!!! Honestly, the first drop only looks good from certain angles. That little twist at the top looks a little weird when your looking directly in front, but from the side it looks reall cool! It is going to be INSANE!
  19. The marketing director stated on 'In the Loop' they were pushing for a big Memorial Day unveiling.
  20. I think we are all forgeting something about the brakes being right after the tunnel...looks like we are going to get a nice pop of air at the finish! Just trying to be positive here...
